I saw that, it's actually what prompted me to consider making an introduction thread.

DO EEET!

We play Axis and Allies yesterday. Was pretty fun, especially the part where I annihilated the entire combined UK/US pacific fleet. Twice. We lost pretty badly in Europe, maybe because our stand in for Hitler was hungover, and Mussolini was, well, mad as always.

I've never played that, but it looks like fun based on the Wikipedia article.

I played chess yesterday against this dude, and my friend's dad was watching. He kept being like "why aren't you taking his pieces? Man you guys suck, you could easily just take all these pieces" and stuff like that. I ended up losing the game, but I played my friend's dad afterwards because he was talking so much shit and I destroyed him twice. I didn't learn anything about chess from it, but it felt pretty good.

There was this bandwagon a while ago where a bunch of users who had been here for a long time but never made an introduction thread went to the grotto and made introduction threads. I think I might do that.

That was actually over a year ago. Might even have been two years. Unless people decided to that again in the meantime.

Professor Layton still didn't arrive today. If it arrives tomorrow before my classes I'm afraid I'll have to skip said classes.

He was worried about VMing it to you due to one of his episodic fears.

Episodic fear?

Yup, it was pretty fun. If you're not rolling with about 20 dices in a land invasion, you're doing something wrong.

Besides, it was one of the first times I have played a board game of that magnitude that didn't involve extreme anger/irrational hatred against the other players. I mean, we all sat there and laughed when suddenly an invasion went totally shit when the luck ran out. Like when the allies tried for an early D-day, and all their bombardment missed. Good times.

It's been a long time since I last played any chess, actually.

What article about consoles dying? Some article that says they'll lose to mobile gaming? Because while statistics seemed to point towards that, there is actually a decline right now in mobile and app gaming. Meaning the staticians who predicted consoles to go obsolete in favour of appgaming are most likely wrong.

I honestly would rather play on a real console than a phone/iPad, and Im sure there are lots of others that feel the same. Consoles arent going anywhere anytime soon, I wouldnt worry about it.

What's the airport game? Then again, I guess I could try to find what it is for myself.

Generate a random Google map position and try to find the nearest airport. Currently on New Zealand, as Hong Kong's elevated highways was too annoying to traverse.

Or just get lost in some mountains. Many nice views actually.

You go on mapcrunch, get placed in a random area and try see how long it takes to get to the mist local airport. I think.

Lol. Funny if you end up in that one streetviewable coral reef.

Social gaming, that was the term. It's in decline. Turns out people generally just play games on their cellphone out of boredom on like the bus, not actually at home for entertainment.

Well ... yeah.

You know it's good when the streetsign says Whatawhata though. Turns out it wasn't so far after all.

Those first words sound pretty horrible. Not that gaming can't be something social (i.e. multiplayer), but when I hear social gaming, I think things like Facebook games and mobile games. The latter can be good for boredom as you mentioned, but I'm skeptical to the claim of (many) people buying and playing large games on their phone. There has to be a consumer base, I don't think it even exists. For smaller games, sure. But who wants things like Angry Birds to replace major games? Fuck that.

Of course, I think a lot the problems with sales can be related to
a) The PS2
b) People buying Wii and never playing it.

Also, I say let it die.

Yeah that's what social gaming means.

Also I think you mis-interpreted my sentence. I said those social games were in decline because people only play them on the bus, I wasn't talking about any other kind of games.

I've determined that I'm going to be a Wynaut fan. I think it's pretty self explanatory...
