Hm. Looking at my textbook list for next semester. I need the second Genki series for Japanese 102 as well as Genki 1? Huh. I know I'll get Genki 2 anyways, since I'm going to go as far as I can with Japanese, but still. Huh. For my computer-related math class, I might be jumping to conclusions but "JT'S CONVERSAT.ON TRUE BASIC-W/FLASH DR" makes it seem like I'll be getting Flash... And I don't think they just mean the stuff to load flash, but to make flash stuff... oooh~ ♥

And while my East Asian Religions course has a piiile of books it needs, they're all on the inexpensive side. :3 Astronomy Part 2 on the other hand... >_> *looks at a 90$ list price, and 70$ as a used book* At least I have some of the books already (expos, and Genki 1 for Japanese), and I'll be selling back the books I don't need, Read; Algebra books (which, funny, I barely used the entire semester).

A bit late for this, but:

You take Japanese/Asian classes? What's it like? How are you doing with them?

And yep, those books sure are expensive all right.

Yeah, books for sciency shit are really expensive. I paid $185 for a thermodynamics textbook last year, which I was able to sell back for around $90, and this year I got a ~$200 engineering mathematics textbook. It is an excellent book though, they use it in quite a few high level math courses. I don't think I'll be selling it. It covers an extremely wide range of topics, and I'll probably need it again in the future.

aaaaah~ ♥ I found another reason to love the Google IME. Beginning to type in Japanese Pokémon Character and Location names, and it suggests them. Example: typing in Fu-ta-ba-ta suggests フタバタウン! ♥ Cynthia's JP name showed up (in two versions, one with and one without "-san") when I was typing in a sentence for fun (カンナギタウンにシロナさんの おばあさんに合いに行きますよ~) along with Kannagi/Celestic Town (? I honestly forget it's english name) and I was like OMG ILU GOOGLE IME. ♥

and for those who don't understand Japanese, that sentence says what I'm doing now in my JP Pearl, going to Kannagi (Celestic?) town to meet Shirona's (Cynthia's) Grandmother. (I don't know how to gramtically write "to give something to Shirona's Grandmother" so I just used "to meet Shirona's Grandmother") \o/ Progress~

am I the only one who prefers English names over Japanese names?
there's nothing wrong with the Japanese names, but they just don't sound as distinctive as the English ones for me.

... same can be said about me preferring English over Japanese. I think Japanese sounds so stupid when spoken... it only really sounds good in music imo.

I like certain english names better than their JP names, but in the case of Sinnoh stuff 9 times out of 10 I'll remember the JP name unless the US name is similar (read: Rs replaced with Ls, Spelt the same, just pronounced with a more english sound). However, some of their names I like better in Japanese, examples:

Akane > Whitney, Suzuna > Candace, Pochama > Piplup, Hikari > Dawn, Korinku > Shinx (barely though, both are good), Subomi > Budew.

However, there are some I like the english name better or they're equal (not counting identical names). examples:

Nanakamudo < Rowan (Too many syllables @_@), Kouki < Lucas, Mimiroru = Buneary, Pi < Clefa, Pippi < Clefairy, Mukkuru < Starly, Mikan = Jasmine.

And for Sinnoh, Kanto, and Johto now I'm used to seeing their JP names, so out of habit I call them such. :p and obviously writing a Japanese sentence I'd use JP names. When it comes to Sinnoh stuff though, I mostly prefer their JP names because I learned them first, and that's how I remember them. The exceptions being the english names I like better.

makes sense, everyone learned the Japanese names before the English... except I never spoiled myself and didn't look online, just played the English games when they came out and had nice surprises. it was nice, but I don't think I'll be able to do that again...

haha, if someone's wondering why, it's because they both do the voice of Kite from .hack so.

Trying to create those uber thin lines that I see in some awesome fanarts. I'm not sure if I'm doing it well though >_>; Some parts are thick because they are supposed to be, but everything else I'm trying to thin out a lot...

hand... hurts... *takes break from drawing*

The twitter bot/account "call_juiz" amuses me, though I wish there was less kanji (or that I knew more)... Otherwise I would be able to read more of it... Dx

I just remembered Messa on dA once said she(?) just draws lineart on ginormous thousandsofpixels big canvases and resizes it when she's done. if you're fairly smooth with your lines, then you'll get really smooth if you downsize a lot. actually, I think everything looks better when partially resized, coloring included...

that could be what at least some of them do.

That's actually pretty good, NyaChan. I like it. What inspired you to make it? Did you make a sketch beforehand?

Nya will be the only one to understand this but I'll post it anyway because crossdressing is always funny.
