I wish I was Dutch...cool accent, cool language, cool place. :( /loves foreign culture

Dutch people have an accent? Well maybe the ones that aren't that good at English. It sounds funny when those people try to talk English xD (usually it results in the 'th' sound being changed into either a 't' sound or an 'f' sound (usually the latter).

Yesss. At least the singers that I know from the Netherlands do. "Th" usually sounds like a "d" to me...it's a slight inflection but I adore it! :)

Well, Eli, you probably have a Boston accent, yes?

Nope. :) I've moved four times. Never long enough to acquire an accent! (I lived in Los Angeles and Israel!)

Well, I'm originally from Ontario, so people sometimes tell me I speak different. So I guess I'm a generic Canadianophone.

UMMMM I'd kill for a British accent. <3 You don't want an American accent, believe me!

I can fake a British accent. And a snobby accent, but only when speaking Dutch. It's funny to use that one.

Yesss. At least the singers that I know from the Netherlands do. "Th" usually sounds like a "d" to me...it's a slight inflection but I adore it! :)

Well, the 'th' in 'the' sounds a bit like a 'd'. That and the Dutch word for the is 'de' (prenounced about the same).

TheMissingno.: Accent free since 1989.

There is no such thing as being accent free. Everyone has an accent. Just when everyone around you has the same accent, it's not called an accent anymore. In the UK you would be the one with the accent.

No, I'd be normal and it would be all those British people with weird accents. Why? Because I pronounce syllables and shit correctly.

How do you deal with being so cool?

It really isn't easy.

1) Yesyesyes. I'm not sure if you know the band Within Temptation, but the singer often says "dere" and it makes me all fuzzy.

2) Exactly. I'll rephrase what I said in that case: I'd like to have an inflection that sounds cool to me. American accent does not equal cool, at least not to me.

3) Missingno. transcends vocal capabilities and therefore does not have an accent.
