Most likely just either trying to make it more specific, or just re wording it.

The pony thing was awful, and I think I messed up when posting it. I like MLP, but not humanoid ponies.

These challenges seem popular, though.

Re: The Bulbagarden Conversational Chat, Vol. 3 (NEW RULES, READ BEFORE POSTING)

Due to the new Forum Rules, posts that comment about a thread's inactivity will count as Pointless Post.

(...)

This is a place to relax and enjoy for everyone.

How can we enjoy it if before every post we make we have to go through a washboard of qualifications our posts must meet? Aren't rules supposed to make something a better place? I don't think posts about thread-inactivity were exactly bothering anyone.

I don't even see under which new "pointless post" rules this would fall, considering the conversational thread doesn't exactly have a topic.

One of my points right there.

But due to the rule, I can't stop at just saying that.

The like button is only clicked for people who make a clever, yet suitable post that appeals to me. Not when I just agree with them.

Another thing I could say something about would be the "don't interrupt"-rule. Let's say two people have a discussion about something. A person not knowing/caring about a subject couldn't then really join without changing the topic, when that topic could probably be done best through VMs. I mostly don't care to post whenever people start talking about Fire Emblem or anything that I really don't care about, but asking to change the topic is not the best solution.

Besides, I can see more than one discussion going on at a time.

When people are talking about something I don't care about I often just ignore it and post something else.

I think the previous rules covered everything just fine. But staff knows better. I guess.

So I can't say, "Sup all my broskis how's it shakin'," if there's a discussion underway?

Please don't randomly interject into other people's conversations. You can join their conversation, but don't derail it. Feel free to join the chat and suggest a new topic to talk about anytime, but if the topic isn't acknowledged, do not take offense. Your fellow members simply want to discuss the topic currently at hand, or it's possible they have nothing to contribute to the topic you have suggested. Please don't disturb the current chat by repeatedly bringing up your topic more than a couple of times.

It seems we can still bring up new topics at any time.

@Mijzelffan
6. Pointless Post (3 points, 1 month)

  • All posts have to say something useful and be relevant to the thread topic or the discussion.
  • With the advent of the “like” button, just saying “I agree,” or any equivalent, to a post is a pointless post. Please add more thought to your posts.
  • Posting to say “we already have this thread” is pointless, as is pointing out that someone else is breaking the rules (unless a moderator is doing one of these things). Use the report function instead of pointing it out in-thread.
  • Posts that are not relevant to the topic or to the discussion fall under pointless post: make sure your post is relevant.
  • Furthermore, if a thread is user-specific (for fanfic, art, or for trades), it is for that user (and interactions concerning that user) only. Do not talk about other artists’ work, they have their own threads.
  • Making a post about a banned topic is also considered a pointless post.
  • Don’t post to say a thread is useless or boring -- instead of making one of these posts, just don’t post at all.
  • Finally, repeatedly reporting rule-abiding posts is considered Pointless Post.
It was this new part that concerned the thread more than anything, but saying "Commenting about inactivity will count as Pointless Post" was too long to add to the thread title. I understand that it's confusing, but the notice will be in the thread title for a couple of days so that everyone can be aware of it.

@AvarusCantus ; About "I agree" posts, if there is more content to them than just saying "I agree", then it'll be fine.
And about Like button, you're free to use it for appealing posts, not just for agreeing. There isn't any limit to that.

@H-con @Kyumorph ; you're free to suggest a topic, or post something at anytime (like atm, I'm posting this because I want to try to make things clear). Two conversations can happen at once if both of the topics are being discussed. It's just that if the topic isn't being followed, there isn't any need to feel bad about it because the users want to talk about something else at the moment.

@Mintaka thank you for addressing these points. In my opinion looking at that exact rule it just seems it was written in an incredibly vague way.

So does this means if the thread is inactive can we bring up a new topic to make it active again?
