Does anyone ever not open links in new tabs when someone posts a link on the forums?
I wish links would normally open in new tabs, it's really annoying sometimes.

I almost always open links in new tabs. But I do like having the choice not to have them automatically opened in new tabs, if that's what your talking about.

I KNOW RIGHT?
Unfortunately Archaic does not agree =/
I dont, when I click on a link, it leads me away from the forums to the site it links too, kind of annoying IMO.
Why?
GIMP's transparency is a lie.
@Mijzelffan. I cant right click, my Mac dosent do that.
Of course he doesn't. Most of the internet users use chrome. Chrome only has a right-click open in new tab option, no "open". There'd be no easy way to open links on the current tab in chrome.

It doesn't matter if there's no reason ever to do it =/
If it were implemented, then people could just open a link in a new tab and close the old tab if they really wanted. Like you said, only one extra click, not that hard.

What about people using older IE versions? They don't support tabs, everything'd pop-up into a new window.
It's something we can do with an inbuilt feature of vBulletin. Having said that however, I don't really have any plans to implement it. It's possible to do this by using a keyboard shortcut or an option on a right click. It's *not* as easy to do the opposite, forcing a link to open in the same tab or window when the site is set to do that by default. It'd likely annoy a number of users.
Holy shit, appearently Archaic used the exact same reasoning as me.

Seriously, there's nothing much to add besides this. And I already said it. Letting links open in new tabs can cause harder-to-solve annoyances to many people, while only slightly improving it for others, who could easily open stuff in new tabs regardless.

I know what he said. I disagree, but I'd rather argue with you then argue with him. He also didn't say anything about people using old versions of IE that don't support tabbed browsing. IE has supported tabs for a really long time, and I think anyone still using a version that old probably shouldn't be using the internet at all.

IE6. Some companies/schools still use it. I remember being forced to use it somewhere recently (like in the past year). Maybe it was on some pc on my old school. Also IE7-8 pop-up blockers might block it when it's automatically opened in a new tab, as I remember my old IE pop-up blocker was quite pesky with stuff like that (I would have to test it to be sure though).

IE7 came out in October 2006. That's five and a half years ago. If you haven't updated your browser on your PC for that long, then you probably aren't the type of person who posts on Bulbagarden Forums. Sounds like all the places where you were forced to use it are places where you shouldn't be browsing the forums anyway.
Schools. From what I've heard in the conversational threads over the years a lot of members browse the site from their schools actually.
But you know, tabs not opening in a new tab automatically actually shouldn't be an issue, as it's the standard everywhere. Google doesn't open stuff in new tabs. Youtube doesn't, Facebook doesn't. Unless you mean to say you never open stuff in new tabs on those sites? Because in that case I withdraw the following argument before even using it. But if you do, then it's kinda weird to expect the same here, and be bothered by it when it doesn't do it. You could just use the same automatism you use on those sites when you open new tabs on this site. Easy.
Plus really, if you are so bothered by making the mistake of directly clicking a link directly so many times, you'd think you would've thaught yourself to right-click a link first by now.
Hello all. (Or am I not cool enough to just say that?)
