Gou fits the "Team Mom" trope?
I'm surprised that they are consistently designing Ash's character to almost always be with a "Team Mom" every region. Didn't he say he didn't want his own Mom babying him? So why would they give him a friend that could also be like a "Mom" to him?

That's the weird thing. Ash got a lot more mature as the series went on (compare the bratty OS Ash to even his AG counterpart, let alone DP or XY), but after XY it feels like they undid it to some extent as part of playing up his comic relief status.

It's weird, but after XY I'm perfectly fine with Ash being closer to his OS self. I just miss his snark.
