There could be a Celebi event. If it's typechanged I bet it would be Psychic/Fairy.

Celebi's a nature spirit though. Not to mention its close ties to the forest. Why would Psychic make more sense than Grass?

I don't know if the double types will change or not, we'll have to find out. I doubt they'll tell us before release, though.

The theme song for these games should be "X & Y" by Coldplay.

I was thinking about just getting X version and listening to the XX continuously, since I kind of do that anyway.

But but Mawile will be Fairy! It must :C

I still hold onto the hope that we'll have malicious Fairies.

I think we're going to see a majority of the fairies as the cutesy kind. It's already the case that quite a lot of pokémon of just about every type are more cute than badass. We haven't seen any fully evolved fairies besides Gardevoir, so that figures into things. And pairings with dark and ghost will offer opportunities for the more monstrous stuff. I think dark/fairy in particular is a good combination because of a potential shared trickery component.

Also, I kind of miss your old signature, FairyGaga. :<

Celebi is Psychic/Grass.

So it's because Grass is the subtype? Huh. I don't see why they can't just change it to Fairy/Grass. It has little to no connection to the Psychic type and very heavy ties to both Grass and Fairy.

I feel I should also clarify, just because I would like Celebi to be Fairy/Grass, and because I think it's very much doable without causing problems to either the players or the developers, that doesn't mean I think it's probable. Odds are we're only getting two or three more retypes, if that, and I doubt Celebi will be among them. I just think it makes more sense for them to retype Celebi than it does for Gyarados (as Water/Dragon,) which was my original point.

No, you asked why Psychic makes more sense than Grass even though Celebi was already a Grass type. I don't know why Dakhem Uaid replaced Grass with Fairy.

That being said, I definitely don't think Fairies will change anything Dragon wise because honestly. All the Fairies so far suck competitively in OU when faced against a Dragon-type, Wigglytuff, Azumarill, Mawile and Gardevoir would get killed by bulky EV-invested MultiScale Dragonite after throwing out their futile attacks. It's nothing wrong, they just suck and are too slow or too weak and slow to actually do anything to OU Dragon monsters. The likes of Hydreigon, Flygon, Garchomp, Salamence and Haxorus will kill them before they even know it, Salamence runs Iron Head and would knock Wigglytuff into the dirt before it could do anything. Haxorus/Garchomp could easily exploit all of their mundane speed stats and end things quickly with Poison Jab. I'm not even touching Mawile, she would get beaten to death by the metagame's token move, Earthquake or get roasted by Flamethrower/Fire Blast from a Dragon anyway. It's really a speed showdown with Fairies, most Dragon-types are speedy Pokemon and have Dragon Dance in their arsenal and could likely more than survive a SE hit from a Fairy. All fairies so far are horribly slow Pokemon.

Azumarill might have a chance if it's part Fairy-type with it's Huge Power ability.

I don't see them changing the type of what is essentially the mascot of Pokemon. That, and it'd make just as much sense as Marill being part Fairy...none :u

Anybody thinks Pikachu family should be Electric/Fairy? This could make sense in X and Y.

Pikachu is an iconic character, so I don't think that its type will change.

Considering Pikachu family are in Fairy egg group, their type could be altered anydays, with Fairy being their secondary type.

Shroomish and Breloom are in the Fairy egg group, so I guess that their type will change too. No.

I don't think they are changing the types of every Pokémon in the Fairy egg group. By the way, I am really hoping for a Fairy/Dark or Fairy/Ghost Pokémon, since Game Freak seem to be going with the "fairies are cute little beings" approach for Fairy-type Pokémon (which is okay to me, as long as fairy isn't a pseudo-Light-type). I wonder how a Fairy Pokémon paired with Dark or Ghost would look like.

It's not all that implausible that we could see pikachu's movepool expanded to include fairy moves. Every single non-dragon type in the dragon egg group can learn a dragon move or evolves into a pokémon that is dragon type or can learn a dragon move. Gaining the fairy type is less likely but not impossible. I do like the idea of a fairy forme or fairy split evolution for pikachu, though. If so, I don't think we would see that this generation. I think we're not going to have more than four new evolutionary lines with the fairy type, and probably less than ten pokémon retconned to be fairy type.

Having Fairy-type moves might work, but not retconning Pikachu's type. How will the anime explain this?
