The First Starter You've Picked For Each Generation?

It's been an even spread through all three types for me.

Gen IV: Piplup (Diamond - 2007)

Gen VI: Froakie (X - 2013)

Other than Piplup and Oshawott (who have been replaced by the Chimchar and Tepig lines respectively), these remain my favorite starters for each generation.

I've almost always gone for the grass starter, sometimes because I think it's the coolest and sometimes because I feel like grass is kind of an "underdog" choice.

Gen I - Venusaur
Gen II - Meganium (My favorite is probably Feraligatr though)
Gen V - Serperior (I picked Emboar in White 2, and honestly I like all three of the GV starters about equally.)
Gen VI - Delphox (I usually go for reptiles over mammals but in this case I liked the fox more than the other two.)

I wasn't playing Pokemon during the third and fourth generations, but if I were to go back and play them, I'd probably pick Sceptile and Torterra.
Overall I think Unova has my favorite starters.

I have picked all starters through my replays of the games, or through playing all of the versions, but these were my choices when first starting a new Generation. Well, all except Froakie, who I plan on picking in the next Kalos games, or in a replay of Y.

Gen 5: Black 1: Snivy (Yeah, that mustache with a cane and a top hat...) Black 2: Haven't played yet. Will soon.
Gen 6: Froakie (great for competitive battling)/Bulbasaur (nostalgia)

I have always picked the water starters. I think it was a random choice I made in my first playthrough of Red. I discovered that it worked really well for me so I never changed. lol

I prefer Treecko to Mudkip and Turtwig to Piplup now. I've always preferred Snivy to Oshawott, but I picked up Oshawott in BW since I thought I'd get BW2 later. If I ever get XY I'll probably get Froakie.
