Except they have. IMO, Dawn has been treated more or less like May. Sure, she had that 'poor self-esteem' subplot, but that was quickly dropped.

Well, that your opinion. But by watching DP, to me they have given Dawn much more focus then did either May or Misty.

You keep saying that, but you fail t provide examples. Please do so.

The bottom line is Dawn and her Piplup represent Generation IV and Sinnoh in its entirety. Yes I am mad that Dawn doesn't get to beat her main rival in my opinion its also a bunch of bull that she doesn't get to have a second chance at a Grand Festival. But with BW and the adventure in Isshu she simply would be irrelevant in marketing the region. On the other hand, the reason May was replaced was because a new heroine in a new generation came. This same thing will happen to Dawn.

In terms of focus, Dawn got a lot more. Outside of contests, May barely did anything, while Dawn participated in the Hearthome TT tournament, the Twinleaf Festival, etc. She got more training episodes and had a more active role in an episode to episode basis...

That being said, May did have some things like the ninth movie (I think she did the first pokéringer too) and pokémon orienteering. And May clearly got more focus than Misty did during her five years.

It is intresting isn't it?
I figure they must have had a reason for it.
They could have just left it Ash adventures like normal.
They'll either change it back to the old ways or just change it to include Ash and 5th Generation Girl Adventures.

That's like an official christening for Dawn as equal and complimentary to Ash. In other words, permanent girl partner.

*sigh* I want to go away, put it seems I have the urge to clarify something again. Well, maybe two things.

Yes, Dawn was treated differently, we get it, no one is arguing that. You don't seem to grasp the difference between different and special, though. What you're implying is she's special, which I don't think there is a reason to believe that. The fans of Misty and May should be coming to maul you to bits for even suggesting it. She has had no more importance than the other two heroines at all. The relationship was closer, yes, but that doesn't mean she has more importance than any of them. Now for the second thing. You're comparing a plot that has already finished (May's) to a plot that has yet to finish. Yes, we are aware we don't know what Dawn's fate is. We would not be here if we did know, but don't throw the fact we know what May's fate was since that is just unfair. There is no comparison because it doesn't exist yet.

Just because they put Dawn's name with Ash it means that she is currently having an adventure in Sinnoh with him. THis will change the moment she leaves the cast to go by herself.

I gave theory's on what could be done with this.
Just have Dawn wear the fifth Generations girls clothes.
She could just do what Ash does every Generation.
I mean Ash is from the first series but he's here every generation, wearing each generation boy type clothes and gets other region Pokemon.
Same thing can happen to Dawn, they could just replace Brock this time with the fifth Generation Boy to advertize that Generation.
I mean, yah her storyline is more left opean here. Like you said, she never got to beat her rival. At least May got to beat Drew before she left.
At least let her beat her rival before leaving LOL.
Just kind of leaves an empty feeling.

She's likely to follow her rivals, Kenny or Zoey. Though she could travel by herself too. We just have to wait and see.

Funny, he said Dawn was treated differantly, something you have been arguing against.

First off, you're spelling 'different' wrong. Second off, by 'different' I meant 'special' in my sleepy pre-medicative state (sorry about that). Dawn has not been treated any more special than May or Misty.

I do feel sooooo empty inside that Dawn never beat Zoey. I also feel soooo empty that we won't see Ash conquer the Platinum Battle Frontier. But I don't see Dawn traveling with Ash in the next region because she was the player character for DP. BW has a different female player character and why would the writers sacrifice a clean slate for someone who wouldn't bring anything new dynamic-wise. Don't forget the reason why Dawn was introduced in the first place: to advertise the new games not become a permanent member of the cast.

I actually agree mostly with Sceptile726. Dawn's different and more important to the DP saga's plot than May was to the Advance generation's plot whom in turn was more important than Misty was to the original series' plot.

That being said, their importance is restricted to their respective sagas. As of now, there's nothing that indicates that Dawn is special enough to crosses over as the anime's second protagonist and join Ash forever. She's super important in DP, just like Misty was important in the OS (albeit a lot... lot less involved in the plot) and like May was important to AG's plot. So Dawn isn't more special or more important.

She might become that if she stays, but as of now, there's nothing that can lead to confirm that her "importance" and her "specialness" will last beyond DP.

Well yah I mean, if we wouldn't started fresh again we wouldn't have Dawn in the first place I suppose. Still, they could have a better fresh start by replacing Brock. Than we'd have characters from different generations advertizing each. Well except AG but May can come back some time like she did in D/P. Brock doesn't really advertize any thing these days, he's not in any thing. He's just in the background =/

Thanks for correcting me.

I never argued that Dawn was more "special" then Misty or May, that fanboys opinion. Might point is the amount of effort they put in her is quite differant and more significant then they did for the other girls, which may mean they may be keeping her. And that is no insult at the other girls or their fans.

Rinse and repeat...Zoey Kenny Zoey Kenny....

One of the blandest characters ever, one of them already past her expiration point, the other making a fool of himself.

Will Dawn really follow them?

As of yet she still hasnt defeated Zoey so she might follow her to beat her in the next GF
