They gave us a decade plus of Ash's style of training. I don't think it would be any different for Dawn. They can always keep it fresh in different ways.

Kind of how they always found ways to keep Brock interesting. Ash and his Pikachu are really boring and stale too. The only interesting part about him is that they give him a new set of pokemon every generation and its fun to see all the gym leaders in action against him too. I enjoy watching Ash because everything around him is changing with new evolutions and pokemon if he brought the same six pokemon it would be really bad. It sucks enough to have to watch Pikachu as a mascot all the time.

Brock's not intresting, he has no compettion to be in yet.
Same old four Pokemon every region he's in.
Goes gaga over girls every where each region.
Has no fun rivals to keep him intresting.
Respect your opinions and all, but err um yahXD
Can any one tell me where its been confirmed that Dawn's going to Johto?
Some one in the Kenny thread said it was and I'd like a link please.

You find Brock interesting?

I was being sarcastic when I said that. But I haven't completely given up on Brock yet. He COULD be interesting if the writers invented a series of breeding contests or even became a coordinator because contests and breeding can go hand-in-hand. But as of right now Brock is the most dull character imaginable.

In that case Dawn shouldn't be any problem if she stays for Isshu. She is more versatile, and they can give her other "cute" outfits. Eye candy, and all that.

Is White-chan going to get different colored laces for her work boots?

Ugh but why. If it was the same generation but its not. The writers should put in a female character who will have a gen V poke for Gen V not Dawn and her Gen IV Piplup.

Ash, Dawn and BW character can have a BW starter each. Problem solved.

Having the face of Sinnoh, the face of Generation IV continue on to the next generation is just wrong regardless of how amazing her character is (Which is really amazing). Even if the writers could make her interesting its been good having Dawn she was a far better representation of her generation than May. But its now time to pass the torch to the girl from BW and let her take over because in Generation V Dawn no longer serves her original purpose.

^ I don't see what's wrong with changing Dawn's purpose to make it bigger.

But Piplup is a fourth gen starter pokemon making it a pokemon that represents that generation because its one of the defining pokemon of the generation.

And if it stays, I don't see how it wouldn't represent more than the fourth gen.

Wobbuffet isn't at the same mascot status as Piplup or Pikachu.

I know, and it doesn't have to be. But in any case, it's still around. They could've replaced it with something from the newer gens, but they kept it around. Even though keeping Piplup means keeping a Pokemon with more importance, it's not impossible for them to still keep it.

And Pikachu isn't a starter and he is the pokemon that represents the pokemon franchise. Otherwise they most likely would have replaced it every generation with a new character and a new mascot.

And if Piplup stayed, it'd be treated the same as Pikachu except of lesser importance.

Difference being Piplup is a starter, intrinsically representing Gen IV. Pikachu is the overall mascot of pokemon, so it makes more sense for it to stay throughout generations. No matter what, Piplup promotes the fourth generation.

It's still not impossible for the writers to use Piplup to promote more than the fifth gen. This isn't a likely chance, but I just disagree with the idea that Piplup is "doomed from the start" to advertise only 4th gen, making it unable to advertise anything else.

Meh... I guess this comes down to the "once a mere starter, always a mere starter" belief. I'm not saying it means being a starter isn't important at all, but anyway... this is something I don't believe. I think it can be more than a starter advertising it's own gym, but you guys don't think so.

Contests would have gotten incredibly stale if it was the same girl generation after generation.

Personally I don't see how gym battles can last 14+ years with the same person and still be refreshing, yet contests can't last more than a couple of years before having to replace the girl in order for it not to be stale.

I don't see what's wrong with bringing up Ash. If we were to have a girl to stick around through the generations doing the same task, she'd be a counterpart to Ash- the guy who does the same thing throughout the generations.

She has become the face of pokemon along with Ash. How could you not see that after all the promotions they did based on her?

Someone temporary is like May. She was in her "own world" fairly distant from Ash besides some tips and such.

You're oblivious to the fact that was plenty of old AG adverts with May and Ash similar to Dawn and Ash now.

In the same level as Brock. Compared to Dawn, its literally the difference between black and white.

You can google search the Japanese AG adverts, like the Spurt CD or so forth. Even some of those old AG posters had May in the front with Max/Brock shoved behind.

Facing away from each other...

Any advert with Ash and May physically touching each other?

Another problem with having Dawn stay is eliminating the possibility of another female coordinator that can be just as good of a character as her. Think about the choice the writers had to make when introducing Dawn. It was either go with an established character or go with a new one. They went with a new one because the new one was the player character of the new games the anime represented. Dawn SHOULDN'T be in the next generation because she doesn't represent the generation at hand which is what her character's purpose is.

Why do they have to be touching each other? You're clearly relating everything to Pearlshipping with Ash/Dawn.

I'm relating it to the current series. Showing Ash and Dawn side to side in tons of promotion, what more do you need to take a hint that Dawn is more than a "flavor of the generation" and an actual permanent companion? Jessie and James want to talk to you.
