I think Ash could win this one. In the past winning the Pokemon League seemed to make your dream of Pokemon Master come true in the anime, but this Saga Cynthia and members of the E4 have been focused on more than ever. This gives Ash the opportunity to beat the League and still have a long way to go before becoming the champion. It's not as all or nothing, so I think he could win this one. We've yet to see an aftermath of the GF elaborated on so I'm not surprised Dawn lost in that respect, because had she of won, that would pretty much mark the end of her quest.

Interesting enough Movie 13 only has Ash's Sinnoh team on it, so he clearly isn't keeping the Johto Pokes on his roster.

Dp182 takes place before the league, he must leave them at the ranch.

I would love to see Ritchies comeback in BW, and all the other rivals like Harisson!
They have nade a big improvment in this DP arc, they showed us so much moe about the rivals so we can like or dislike them! And I think Paul going to Isshu.

I think the article written in http://www.toonzone.net/blog/blogs/192/huge-pokmon-announcement-piplup-to-be-the-new-mascot/ is fake. I mean, I love Dawn, but Pokemon wouldn't be Pokemon without Ash.

Look at the date. It was posted on April 1st: April Fool's Day.

Anyway, I'm really excited to see all of Ash's old pokemon. I really am guessing that Oak has a ranch in Sinnoh and if so, hopefully we'll see all of Ash's Oak'd pokemon. I'd like to see Sceptile, Swellow, and some others even if they may or may not be battling in the league.

You know, I think I'd like that. Give Ritchie an appealing personality compared to his robotic one back in Kanto. Also have another rematch between Ash and Ritchie.

And I'd like to see Morrison again, he was awesome. XD

That'd be my dream come trueAs much as I'd like Dawn to take the lead, Pokemon would never be the same without Ash.

And I had a wacky thought. What if Conway was the owner of said legendary? It'd make partial sense. He has the knowledge, he might be able to capture one. Plus, it'd give him something to remember him by. I personally loved his character as well as HeatTagShipping.

I think that's a fake one. I think it was for April Fools. It says April 1, Toon Zone is known for its pranks on that day, trust me I've gone there many times and its a crazy house during that time.
Besides Serebii.Net would have reported some that big. Even that website gets big facts like that right.
They wouldn't dare get rid of Ash and Pikachu.
I think Pikachu is still more popular than Pipulp.
However, Pipulp being popular might be a good reason for her staying. Guess will see.

Alright, I think we've established that article is fake enough times already...

Actually by the looks of things, M13 doesn't seem to fit in with the plot like the other movies did. If DP183 is the start of the league, that pretty much confirms the movie fits somewhere else.

I bet the league doesn't start until DP184. I can't see the movies suddenly not fitting in now. He probably just takes a look at his old team for an episode, then Oaks them again until he needs them in the league. He certainly wouldn't start the league without his Shinou team.

I guess this Legendary trainer will only show up in the league. I'm surprised he/she hasn't appeared yet.

Can't short, early battles be memorable too? I loved that battle between Jessie and Harley where he used an Ariados on her Wobbufett. I understand that you think Paul's attention is largely undeserved, and under exposed characters like Conway should have a chance to shine, but really...The tension between Ash and Paul has been building up since the third episode. I'm sure the fans would want some kind of complete resolution.

Yes, it really is all about perception, and I don't want to already know Ash beats a certain someone, I want it to be a surprise. Like Dawn vs Zoey, it was really up in the air all along, it should be that way for the League. Knowing Ash wins every battle isn't going to be fun, make it edgier and unpredictable, mind you I want Ash to win the League.

Let's not sell Ash too short now. I'm sure that he'll give Paul quite a run for his money, it's not gonna be like that crushing 6v6 loss. I'm pretty sure that the writers want to make this battle turn in Ash's favor to keep the status quo. Even if he loses (which is highly unlikely), he's going to lose with a shred of respect.

I'm not selling Ash short, I want him to beat Paul, and I know he can. If Ash were to by some odd reason lose to Paul, then the writers clearly have a purpose for making Dawn and Ash lose to their main rivals 2wice.

Actually...maybe. I've been leaning towards "yes" recently, because Dawn lost the GF. But that might be more reason to say "no." Since he's going on to Isshu (99.9% sure) he's not gonna become champion. And has it been confirmed that Ash will fight a legendary pokemon in the FINALS? I always thought it was somewhere earlier on, like top 8 or top 4.

I see where your comming from, and while I have faith in Ash myself, I realized to not link the success of another character to another one.

My final thought on the poor 8th gym match we will receive in Sinnoh....

Hopefully the writers will fix this in the 5th gen region. I honestly don't care what happens in the 5th gen region land (right now) but at the very least they should make it so the final gym gets two episodes and even possibly even possibly making it a full battle (if not that then a 5 on 5). It really wouldn't be too hard, they could have a small outline, and make it so the gym receives 2 episodes devoted to the gym battle, and possibly work backwards.

And if need be they could always add some filler episode in case their original assessment of how it works doesn't. Since the only problem they could ever possibly encounter is not enough episodes. They could never have too many episodes if they make the last gym 2 episodes, and do a rough draft backwards. Since after all a main region could never be around 30 episodes unless they condensed it, and since the region will likely last 3-4 years, they could never run into trouble with "too many episodes" if they simply made the the 5th gen region's last gym be a two parter.

Oh man, if Ash lost to Paul again...I think he would lose it, and become a cliche brooding angry person.

My only problem is the pacing of the evolutions in DP.

It really was sad they saved Infernape/Torterra for the tail-end where they hardly got any screentime.

Monferno being rushed through was sad.

I kinda wish DP was longer, and there was some sort of Elite 4, or BF arc. Oh well, I suppose the best we can hope for is some sort of Exhibition match with Cynthia. But, there doesn't even seem to be time for that.

There has been more focus on Sinnoh's E4 than any other region, not to mention that it was revealed in this arc that you can challenge the League Champion after winning the regional tournament. DP has definitely been more story-driven, & I'd be surprised if we didn't get something out of Cynthia & the E4 before the BW arc starts.

I will admit the Dawn vs. Zoey battle left a nasty sting in my mouth as to the fate of Ash vs. Paul, but then I realized that if they let Paul win, then the writers would contradict countless years of morality being shoved down our throats. There is far more than the tension in the show at stake, it's the integrity of the writers themselves. I do not believe they would do that, they have to make Ash win, although like many here, I expect it to be through some lame excuse deus ex machina. If it were up to me, Ash would've had to change the way he thinks entirely to win, because Paul not only overpowered Ash, he found his most fatal weakness: his recklessness. But the writers went on like always, which means this means absolutely nothing to them. Whether it's through his improved Sinnoh pokes, or the sheer power of his reserves, they will find some excuse for him to win, not only to prove the power of friendship, but to prove his fighting spirit.

The games are coming out in September. There's no time for either of those things unfortunately.

Well, we know Ash's old Pokemon are coming back. It could be that Ash uses Paul's strategy from their last battle: forming a team based on previous battle experience. That's the only reason, that I can think of anyway, that they would have Ash use his old Pokemon after trying to start fresh in Sinnoh.

I hope they at least give us an episode with all the E4 together and maybe a Cynthia battle to wrap up the season. I wonder if they ever planned to have Ash battle the E4.
