Slowking, Aggron, Heracross, Magnezone, Dusknoir/Tangrowth, 5th gen Pokémon.

Anyways, I hope we get an episode for rest of Dawn's rivals, because I'm biased like that.

Even if Contests aren't in BW, Musashi will just do whatever new thing there is.

Personally I'm bored of the Rockets usual antics. Contests helped keep them interesting.

I hope next Generation we get to see James in the spotlight doing something.

No, I wouldn't.

Going back to do the Frontier challenge is a rehash, and it wouldn't even make sense storywise, since Ash turned down the offer to become a brain, and there has been no indication that he would change his mind.

What would be Ash's motivation for doing this again?

I actually agree with you. I would be quite bored if they did another BF arc. But I think when they decided to spread DP out longer , they could have done it better. But I guess that was because I wanted an E4 arc and more league episodes.

They should have just let him battle the Elite 4 this season and get to Cynthia.

Haha I just wanted him to get to the E4, I'd even be satisfied with him getting pancaked in the first match, as long as he freaking made it.

Have him challenge other regions and get more badges and the like...

He wouldn't become this unbeatable trainer just by beating the Elite Four.

True. But it'd be very unsatisfying if he is a challenger of the E4 and then all the sudden he gets to another region and COTD trainers are a match for him and league trainers give him a hard time.

I myself think a reboot would be terrible. But if Pokemon wants to go for another 10 or so Generations, it might be inevitable after awhile *sadly*. Even if he spends the next 5 Regions trying to beat the E4 and become champion, it'll have to happen eventually. I wonder what will happen when that time comes. Fuck, it'll probably end up like Yu-gi-oh :(

If Ash is to end up in a next region with 8 gyms I'm probably not going to bother.

DP has exhausted the limit of unpredictability. If the new saga is based on the same formula it won't have anything more to offer.

Well, thanks to the new info we're not get a reboot, but that was obvious. Ash is still going to be there, and a anime exclusive girl that's most likley doing conest. Brock better not show up randomly in like EP 05 of B/W. New sidekick please..

Now, I have a feeling that the only reason they've chosen not to stick with Dawn Is because they want to drop contests, and it would be to difficult to do so and still leave Dawn's character with credibility.

If they're not going to bring in Gen V protagonist then they might as well have stuck with Dawn who's already popular.

I'm thinking they want to drop contests so they had no choice but to switch her out.

Well, if going by his description. "She's cute, and her hair is amazing." It sounds just like another girly contest character. Besides Dawn will probably cameo next season, and battle the new heroine in some kind of battle. Kenny will probably unfortunalty be there too, since she's probably traveling with him

Sounds like all the DP rivals will be leaving too, as expected.

Looks like the writers are "cleaning house" of everyone except Ash and TR.

In the other thread on the main page.

"CLEANING HOUSE." "MASSIVE SEVERING OF TIES."

LOL, every new DP character + Brock is being written out.

Too bad they couldn't get rid of Ash too and reboot the whole show, but this is the next best thing.

Since this is the Gen V thread, I'll address Piplup's post here instead of the thread that it came from.

Piplup said:
I wonder if this girl might become the permament star together with Ash forever, and not an equal star to him for one series only...
If this is true, she won't be based on any game heroine so she won't be too associated with a certain game/generation...

If this girl is an anime-exclusive character that replaces Dawn (which that's what will seem to be the case- would they really give us suspense when it comes to whether or not Dawn will stay?), I think it'd be cool for her to be a main girl. Especially if her first Pokemon's not one of the three starters.

Although I still think that they should've main Dawn the main girl since, in my opinion, it'd be easy to do with all the hype and all that. If they want a permanent girl, why start from scratch and not use Dawn? Because some of the people in forums like these look at her and only think "Sinnoh 4th gen outdatedness"? But anyway, it looks like Dawn's not going to stay. Based on more than past tradition.

But also, even if this new anime girl does a non-traditional starter Pokemon, I still have doubts she'll stay past Gen V. They can give her all the screentime and hype they want, but how will we know it won't be temporary unless those who make the show tell us it won't?

And for all the people celebrating the departure of Piplup- for all we know this new girl will have a Pokemon similar to Piplup.

But then... should he beat everyone he battles? Ash wouldn't be the only strong trainer around. Other strong trainers are around, including possibly COTD trainers.

Or they could "have Pikachu's level fall back to 0" at the beginning of Isshu, which would be unsatisfying to many, but to me I wonder if having Pikachu do that is that much more justifiable if it and the others lost the Sinnoh league. I mean, even if Ash ultimately loses he's gonna make it far in the league, so to some extent, he'll already be strong.

Also, if he does win the whole league, his last match could be a win that he barely got to have. And that would still show that Ash is flawed, because barely getting by doesn't automatically turn one into an unstoppable trainer.

Maybe the next region could be where all the trainers who have been really successful in the other regions and are looking for a challenge go. Everyone's already on a high level, the wild pokemon are stronger, and Ash could bring along some of his old pokemon and switch them in and out with the new ones he catches along the way. I think this would be really cool and a way to retain the momentum of the last season (I mean the Sinnoh battles got bigger and better as the series continued and I'd hate for that to just go down th drain and go back to everyone using first stages and basic attacks like tackle.)

I think its more likely they'll keep things the way they always are. Having said that, a tougher environment with stronger Pokemon would explain why the new game characters are older.

If Brock leaves, what should be the reason? I don't think he'll be a Gym leader again like what happened to Misty, simply because his brother took it over and Brock doesn't want to do that.

I strongly believe Holly will re-appear in the final DP eps and Brock will want to stay with her as a tag battle partner and take up his breeding skills on the side.

Likeliest scenario for Brock leaving would be Holly. They threw a whole lot of personality and CD at her for a character of the arc. I think they mean to bring her back.

I don't know. She only appeared once (OK, it was two episodes, but it was only one arc), and that was like 3 years ago, so I think she's too faraway to be remembered by the cast (and the writers) and give her such a big role like being the one who pulls Brock out of the main cast is.

Characters have re-appeared from ages ago. Who the hell remembers Jasmine's eps from Johto, for example?

Likewise a quick flashback to Holly would bring people up to speed.

I'd be fine with Brock leaving with Holly.
At least he'd get a happy ending, but didn't they say some thing about his dream? Maybe the girl is his dreamXD
A nearly fresh new reboot is a nice change. I'm glad we got a bit of info on the new series. I'm personally glad Ash is staying, I knew he wouldn't LOL. Maybe they could use my idea and just replace Brock with fifth Generation boy instead. He'd be older right? Kind of like Brock bit different, with personality since he's new hopefully with some thing to do.
Or anime boy like the girl, Ash will probaly wear some thing like the fifth Generation boy.

Brock leaving with Holly would be quite a simple and logical way to get rid of him. After all, Brock changing career seems a bit odd after 12 years, and the only thing Brock cares about more is girls, so..
Having said that, I'd still be a tad surprised if Brock finally got a girl :p
