The In-Game Team Advice Thread

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Just SRed a pretty sweet Kabuto in my FR version: Adamant, Swift Swim, perfect Attack IV, and not a single other IV under 20 (22 / 31 / 20 - 24 / 25 / 21 / 28). I'm thinking of either using it as a lead or Swords Dancer, but it's definitely getting used to take down Blaine.

Here's the rest of my current team (all at level 45, except Dragonair (50) and Venusaur (46))

Venusaur
-- Tackle
-- Sleep Powder
-- Leech Seed
-- Razor Leaf

Pikachu
-- Thunderbolt
-- Thunder
-- Quick Attack
-- Thunder Wave

Gyarados
-- Strength
-- Bite
-- Hydro Pump
-- Dragon Rage

Fearow
-- Fly
-- Aerial Ace
-- Drill Peck
-- Pursuit

Arbok
-- Screech
-- Acid
-- Poison Sting
-- Bite

Dragonair
-- Twister
-- Surf
-- Thunder Wave
-- Outrage

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Well, I've knocked Platinum around for awhile now, love the Battleground. I'm currently training up a team to go back to the E4, post National Dex and wallop them. Here's what I got....

Drake (Dragonite)
Lv. 75
Outrage
Thunder
Aqua Tail
Fly

Titan (Salamence)
Lv. 74
Draco Meteor
Heat Wave
Earthquake
Double Edge (Hate this, want something else)

Beast (Tyranitar)
Lv. 74
Earthquake
Stone Edge
Crunch
Strength (Hate this too)

Torch (Infernape)
Lv. 77
Blast Burn
Close Combat
Ghost Claw
Thunderpunch

Lex (Alakazam)
Lv. 76
Psychic
Recover
Charge Beam
Energy Ball

Finally, I just replaced Blade, my Lv. 72 Weavile, with...

Angel (Milotic)
Lv. 55
Hydro Pump
Surf
Ice Beam
Aqua Ring

I'll get my Milotic into the 70's then go destroy the E4, lol it'll be fun. Anybody got an ideas for improvements? New moves I could throw in?

for your salamence, how about giga impact? same for your tyranitar

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

@Veritas
Maybe Dragon Pulse on Milotic? But then again, you'd have to waste a TM...

When is the best time to evolve a Clefairy and Nidorino in FireRed. I'm thinking maybe something like this

Clefable
Cute Charm, quirky (difficult enough to find a Clefairy)
Brick Break/Meteor Mash/Calm Mind?
Ice Beam
Thunderbolt/Flamethrower
Return

It depends if I want to keep it as a Clefairy till level 45 to get Meteor Mash though. But it needs something to combat rocks and steel, so maybe Brick Break? But I would have been proud of my achievement if I had Meteor Mash though.

As for Nidorino, maybe something like this:

Nidoking
Poison Point, careful
Brick Break
Megahorn
Thunderbolt/Surf?/Dig/Shadow Ball
Ice Beam/Fire Blast/Dig/Shadow Ball

I'm probably going to save the TM for Earthquake and Sludge Bomb for Platinum. Maybe Brick Break + Shadow Ball and Megahorn and some special attack or Dig (just for STAB)?

I really like Dragon Dance on Dragonite. If you choose to do that, you should replace Thunder with it since it's a special attack.

You won't have much trouble beating the elite 4.

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

hey everyone, for now, I've been going hard at the battle frontier on my emerald version. I only use three pokemon. here they are:

Electrode lv. 61
thunder
thunderbolt
explosion
mirror coat

Glalie lv. 61
blizzard
ice-beam
sheer cold
protect

Hariyama lv. 60
vital throw
earthquake
dynamicpunch
mega kick

I can beat any thing at least once or twice guaranteed, but after that I cannever win. I'm thinking of switching out a pokemon, but I have to make sure that it won't affect my "triangle" too much. any suggestions of a good pokemon?

Anybody, anything??

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Anybody, anything??

I suggest not switching dig with moonlight. or at least switching dig with earthquake. thought about facing an electric type?

PS. if you could read my message above yours it would be appreciated

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

@acefighter
Your Glalie likes it's ice-attacks. Maybe switching something like Sheer Cold for Crunch, or Shadow Ball?
Oh and I don't think Umbreon can learn Earthquake, so stick with Moonlight.

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

In Celadon City in FireRed, and I just got a good Eevee and Growlithe.

Eevee lvl 25, Modest (Gonna make it a Jolteon when after it learns Bite)
Dig
Sand-Attack
Growl
Quick Attack

Nidoqueen lvl 25, Quiet (Spent forever trying to find Nido F)
Double Kick
Cut
Body Slam
Bite

Pidgeotto Lvl 24, Hardy
Quick Attack
Gust
Sand-Attack
Tackle

Gyarados Lvl 25, Serious
Secret Power (Hey, its better than Tackle..)
Dragon Rage
Bite
Water Pulse

Growlithe Lvl 20, Lonely
Dig
Ember
Leer
Odor Sleuth

Butterfree Lvl 25, Jolly
Confusion
Poison Powder
Sleep Powder (Compound Eyes raises accuracy, making this hit 90% of the time, at least whenever I use it)
Supersonic

I replaced Pikachu with Eevee/Jolteon and Mankey with Growlithe and gonna replace Butterfree with Cubone after I beat Erika, and Pidgeotto with Aerodactyl, Gyarados with Lapras, and NidoQueen with Dratini (Dragonite) when I can get them.

Thanks for reply!! Your team sounds awesome, especially electrode. Though for Glalie Id suggest swapping blizzard for maybe earthquake? Glalie is weak to fire, rock and steel so a ground move could be helpful if you cant switch for Hariyama.

Hariyama seems quite good too, though I had one before that knew ice punch and that worked quite well.

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

At Elite four in Platinum, been leveling up but still underlevled,

Aquatus (Prinplup)Lv.61 (Serious)
Return
Surf
Ice Beam
Hydro Pump
My starter done just about every gym alone, good Pokémon for me.

Rotarius (Roserade)Lv.49 (Bashful)
HP:136,Attack:88,Defense:74
Shadow Ball
Toxic
Giga Drain
Sludge Bomb
Been with me since the begining, great on Maylene.

Facaria (Machoke)Lv.55 (Guts)
Flamethrower
DynamicPunch
Revenge
Fire Punch
Good little Macoke, met at Lv.6, great

Giratina, Lv.59 (Mild)
Fly
AncientPower
Dragon Claw
Shadow Force

any thoughts, terrible at Ev/Iv training, help appreciated

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

I'm not sure if this is the place to post, but yeah... any better options for my friend's Gardevoir? Don't know about its EV/IV though.

Gardevoir
Level 35
Thunderbolt
Shadow Ball
Psychic
Double Team

C&C appreciated.

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

i would ditch double team for Energy ball. double team almost never helps anyone except the AI. Energy ball Power:80 will help even out your team

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Okay, after restarting FireRed, my team looks like this. I'm about to fight Koga.

Venusaur, level 38
Lax
Tackle
Sleep Powder
Poisonpowder
Razor Leaf

Does need replacement for tackle though

Muk, level 39
Stench, Impish
Sludge
Minimize
Screech
Acid Armor

Needs some better moves. Like Fire Blast or something

Nidoking, level 45
Careful
Megahorn
Rock Slide
Strength
Brick Break

Strength for moving misc. rocks. Plus it beats Horn Attack. Tutored Rock Slide onto him

Clefable, leve 46
Quirky
Pound (thinking Return here)
Brick Break
Moonlight (thinking Softboiled)
Meteor Mash

After grinding my Clefairy to lv. 45, I finally got Meteor Mash, and I'm definately keeping that. I'm thinking Boltbeam plus Meteor Mash and Return, though this leaves me with problems against Magneton

Flareon, level 42
Hasty
Fire Spin (soon Flamethrower)
Shadow Ball
Quick Attack
Bite

I'm thinking of replacing Bite with something...

And the last slot is occupied by Ch'Ding, my HM-slave, but I'll replace it with Dewgong when I'm able.
