Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Hey guys, Umm can you guys help me get ready for the Battle Frontier in Platinum.

Well heres my Team:

Pokemon: Charizard
Special Ability: Blaze
Nature: Quiet
Moves: Heat Wave, Blast Burn, Fly, Outrage

Well this is my favorite Pokemon out of my bunch, I hatched it from an egg in platinum and I am wondering what moves might make him better, can anyone recomend some new Moves.

Pokemon: Garchomp
Special Ability: Sand Veil
Nature: Lax Nature
Moves: Dragon Rush, Earthquake, Dragon Pulse, Giga Impact

This is Garchomp, he is basically the Dragon of my bunch and I use him mainly against other Dragon types because can really take a hit and he is also good against fire and other types.

Pokemon: Torterra
Special Ability: Overgrow
Nature: Gentle
Moves: Frenzy Plant, Earthquake, Wood Hammer, Synthesis

This is Torterra, my starter in Platinum (yes some people do like grass starters) and he is mainly used against Rock and Electric types and things like that. I am thinking of removing Synthesis since Torterra isn't very speedy but I don't know what to put over it.

Pokemon: Gyarados
Special Ability: Intimidate
Nature: Bashful
Moves: Surf, Dragon Pulse, Ice Beam, Thunderbolt

Well now for Gyarados, every good team needs a water type and I was struggling with Gyarados, Blastoise or one of the other Water starters (save for Swampert since I have two ground types already). Anyway can anyone recomend any other good moves for him, thats basically what I need.

Pokemon: Electivire
Special Ability: Motor Drive
Nature: Careful Nature
Moves: Thunderbolt, Brick Break, Psychic, Earthquake

Well this is one of my faves from my team, the right balance of special attack and attack. He can take a hit too. Same again I am just struggling for moves as of now with everything. I mainly took to offence and I was wondering if anyone could recommend something else instead.

Pokemon: Tyranitar
Special Ability: Sand Stream
Nature: Naive
Moves: Crunch, Hyper Beam, Stone Edge, Earthquake

I know I have a thing about earthquake but Tyranitar I really struggled with on if or not to use him instead of Metagross since I like them both and they can take a hit. Anyway again, moves appreciated.

Other Pokemon I thought of using for my team were: Ryhperior, Lucario, Hitmonlee, Spiritomb, Gengar, Gallade, Steelix, Aggron, The Water type starters, Snorlax, Luxray, Metagross and Scizor.

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Rate my Pearl team--

1. Lv 60 Gyarados (Foppa)
Nature: Mild / Ability: Intimidate
Moves: Surf, Ice Beam, Waterfall, Flamethrower
Items: Mystic Water (sometimes switched with Charcoal)
Notes: I trained this Poke since 1) I wanted to see if I could get the German for "Gyarados" on my Pokédex (it being Meister's and all) and 2) because I like training traded Pokes.

2. Lv 61 Drifblim
Nature: Sassy / Ability: Unburden
Moves: Hyper Beam, Ominous Wind, Shadow Ball, Fly
Items: Spell Tag
Notes: Yeah, Aftermath is a better ability. Too bad that by the time I caught this Drifblim I was getting annoyed at most of them being female (I want to breed for moves with it, and for that, I need a male).

3. Lv 61 Pachirisu
Nature: Quirky / Ability: Pickup
Moves: Rain Dance, Thunder, Discharge, Cut
Items: None (due to ability)

4. Lv 61 Torterra
Nature: Naughty / Ability: Overgrow
Moves: Earthquake, Crunch, Leech Seed, Frenzy Plant
Items: Miracle Seed
Notes: My Sinnoh starter and pride and joy. He's a tank and with the help of Leech Seed can take tons of punishment. Crunches to start battles and uses Frenzy Plant to finish them off.

5. Lv 61 Drapion
Nature: Calm / Ability: Battle Armor
Moves: Crunch, Rock Climb, Sludge Bomb, Rock Smash
Items: Poison Barb
Notes: I got sick and tired of waiting for it to learn a good Poison-type move so I eventually taught it Sludge Bomb. It then proceeded to try learning Cross Poison like three levels later, which I'm thinking about teaching to it instead of Sludge Bomb since its Sp. At. is like way higher...

6. Lv 61 Bronzong
Nature: Adamant / Ability: Heatproof
Moves: Strength, Earthquake, Extrasensory, Flash Cannon
Items: Quick Claw
Notes: I think Heatproof is as good an ability as Levitate on Bronzong. It's gotten roasted a few times and pulled through, and if the opponent knows Earthquake, Gyarados and Drifblim are there.

So what do you guys think?

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Due to length, I'm sending my rating of your team by PM, Venusaur.

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

This doesn't seem like an in-game team. This looks competitive. You could post this in its own thread!

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Here's my current Platinum Team. Note that this team is a bit different than my orginal team, as I'm now at the Battleground. I've defeated four of the five Battle Frontier facilities (silver stamp), and I'm currently training to take on the Elite Four again. I try to keep my team about the same level, so it's easier to keep track. Anyway.

Torterra (Razor)(Starter)
Gender: Male
Level: 73*
Ability: Overgrow
Nature: Hasty
Personality: Somewhat Stubborn
Attacks:
Crunch (15 PP)
Earthquake (12 PP)
Wood Hammer (15 PP)
Leaf Storm (7 PP)
Held Item: Razor Claw*

Blaziken (Blazer)
Gender: Male
Level: 72*
Ability: Blaze
Nature: Lax
Personality: Often Dozes Off
Attacks:
Sky Uppercut (15 PP)
Blaze Kick (12 PP)
Earthquake (12 PP)*
Bulk Up (20 PP)
Held Item: Leftovers*

Empoleon (Jet)
Gender: Male
Level: 72*
Ability: Torrent
Nature: Gentle
Personality: Quick to Flee
Attacks:
Steel Wing (25 PP)
Brick Break (15 PP)
Surf (15 PP)
Ice Beam (10 PP)
Held Item: Lax Incense*

Gardevoir (Lora)
Gender: Female
Level: 72*
Ability: Trace
Nature: Relaxed
Personality: Often Scatters Things
Attacks:
Psychic (12 PP)
Thunderbolt (15 PP)
Dream Eater (15 PP)
Hypnosis (20 PP)
Held Item: Wise Glasses

Garchomp (Jetfang)
Gender: Male
Level: 72*
Ability: Sand Veil
Nature: Lonely
Personality: Hates to Lose
Attacks:
Dig (10 PP)
Dragon Claw (15 PP)
Flamethrower (15 PP)
Draco Meteor (6 PP)
Held Item: Shell Bell*

Lucario (Aura)
Gender: Male
Level: 72*
Ability: Steadfast
Nature: Modest
Personality: Good Perseverance
Attacks:
Flash Cannon (10 PP)*
Water Pulse (20 PP)
Dark Pulse (15 PP)
Aura Sphere (20 PP)
Held Item: Scope Lens

There. I'm still learning about the whole Personalities and Nature stuff, so this is what I've managed to get. I also listed the PP of each one, since I've used a few PP Ups before and after the Elite Four (mostly before). What do you think? This is probably my best team so far, better than my Emerald team. I would list the stats, but that would take too long. So, that's my team. Any suggestions on new moves or whatever?

EDIT: Got a hold of a few new items and such, as well as leveled up a little bit. What do you think? Still working on them, but this is what I've managed to gather for now.

This team is actualy pretty good, but you should replace lucario's force palm with flash cannon, garchomp's draco meteor with crunch, garchomp's dig with earthquake and his flamethrower with fire fang or aerial ace. Also consider replacing blaziken's blaze kick with flare blitz. You should also consider replacing the held items with items such as life orb, muscle band, left overs, lum berry, choice items, or something.

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Is Blastoise bulky enought to be a spcial wall without any stat boosts for NU/UU?

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

I'm debating between playing Diamond with a Dragon theme team or a Grass one.

Dragon will look like (at Lv. 60 pre-E4):
Charizard: Heat Wave, Shadow Claw, Air Slash, Brick Break
Kingdra: Surf, Waterfall, Ice Beam, Dragon Pulse
Sceptile: Leaf Blade, Iron Tail, Leech Seed, Crunch
Garchomp: Earthquake, Dragon Rush, Fire Fang, Stealth Rock
Salamence: Crunch, Fly, Zen Headbutt, Thunder Fang
Dialga: Roar of Time, Metal Claw, Earth Power, Heal Block
+ Bibarel HM Slave

Grass (also at hypothetical Lv. 60 pre-E4):
Torterra: Crunch, Earthquake, Leech Seed, Leaf Storm
Abomasnow: Blizzard, Wood Hammer, Brick Break, Rock Climb
Ludicolo: Surf, Waterfall, Solarbeam, Fake Out
Tropius: Fly, Cut, Rock Smash, Synthesis (entry hazard instead?)
Exeggutor: Hypnosis, Dream Eater, Strength, Sunny Day
Venusaur: Toxic, Synthesis, Sludge Bomb, Leaf Storm (Petal Dance? Solarbeam?)

As mentioned, these are designed to be theme groups (meaning they vary within the constraints of sticking to one type or breeding group) and I spent most the last evening working the theory out and starting breeding work for both groups, which will be assembled and TM'd and HM'd up in tandem on Pearl before one goes to Diamond, once I restart the game...but I'm not sure which I actually want to do...

You should've put this in the simple questions thread. But yes, I think he is if you EV train him a bit

I think I like the dragon one better, but that's just personal preference XD. Anyway you should just get an HM slave instead of teaching good pokemon the weaker HM moves(cut, rock smash, strength, rock climb, defog, fly) also you should go with a grass team focusing on ONE weather effect because it may get difficult having to switch between weather effects every now and then.

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Utterly awful levels going into the Elite Four in Platinum. Any quick tweaks would be appreciated. The items suck because I don't know where they all are (that and some of the good ones are held back until Battle Frontier). I think I can win with this group and eventually build something decent, but I want to get out of this part first.

Staraptor (Lv. 51)

Brave Bird
Return
Close Combat
Double Team

Self-explanatory. Actually has a Lonely nature, something I don't even look at when in-game playing. Designed to try and sweep immediately; if it looks like I can set up I'll spam Double Team. Will eventually be named Clarice - I wasn't feeling clever the first hour of play.

Empoleon (Lv. 47, Nevermeltice)

Surf
Ice Beam
Growl
Aerial Ace

A special sponge about halfway completed. Gentle nature is not what I was looking for but I work with it.

Gyarados (Lv. 47, Ice Plate)

Dragon Dance
Waterfall
Return
Ice Fang

A second water type, which concerns me. Bad nature but I figure the moveset is pretty good in lieu of Earthquake, which I can get when I find an actual good Magikarp. Maybe the German one won't suck?

Rapidash (Lv. 48)

Flame Wheel
Take Down
Agility
Bounce

REALLY needs work. Took a while to find one with Flash Fire. Naive nature is a help but probably overkill.

Giratina (Lv. 51, Dragon Claw)

Ominous Wind
Ancientpower
Dragon Claw
Heal Block

I know, I know. But with these levels I think I need the help (wasted a lot of time raising a Togetic and a Lucario who couldn't quite catch up). Heal Block was put in to help win the type of endurance matches this guy gets into, like with Barry's Snorlax or possibly an Alakazam. Sassy nature. Wanted Leftovers but it's not easily come by.

Azelf (Lv. 50)

Default moveset

It's that or said Lucario, at level 36 and in desperate need of move tutors I can't yet afford. I have no depth to my team at the moment. Lucked into a Mild nature. Nicknamed X, for the Mega Man character (what, like you didn't think it?).

I'm just trying to get through the Elite Four right now and want to know if there are any quick changes I should make. Keep in mind the stage of the game I'm at - the best TMs are not easy to come by yet, so I can't throw Thunder Wave where it needs to go.

I recommend giving Empoleon Aqua Jet instead of Growl. Having a priority move helps in many situations. Other than that, you should probably try leveling up your pokemon a bit more. I realize you don't want to spend too much time doing this, but beating the Elite Four with such low-level pokemon can be quite difficult.

Mismagius Lv 100 (Mismagius)

EVs: 255 SpAtt, 255 Spd.

Moves
Shadow Ball
Thunder Bolt
Psychic
Energy Ball

Spr_4d_286_s.png

Breloom Lv 100 (Redcap)

EVs: 255 Att, 255 Spd.

Moves
Thunder Punch
Seed Bomb
Mach Punch
Superpower

Clearly these aren't my only pokemon but these are the only two that I'm going to put in this post. I'll add the rest when I'm done training them.

Yeah, for Vanity, all of my pokemon are Shiny, and Legit.(Can't stand Hackies.) I have issues. Lol.

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Those guys are pretty good AmazingMagnezone I can only suggest that you replace either mach punch or super power with spore. Also you should have posted their abilities, natures and held items. Breloom should have poison heal and be holding a toxic orb. You may also want to consider calm mind, pain split or nasty plot on mismagius.

PS shroomish learns spore but I dont think breloom does

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Hi. I'm relisting my team since there have been some changes (mostly levels and moves). I'll also include my stats so you can see my move choices. Not sure if posting stats will me competative, but I thought it might be ideal to show you my reasons for my moves. Just as a side note, I hate items like Life Orb or the Power items, which is why I don't use them. I don't like sacrificing strength for power. That's my reason behind not using them. Anyway. Here they are.

You can obviously see where all my EV training went. I'm still open to recomendations, but I will point this out. 1: No Life Orbs or Power Items, I really don't like them. 2: Limit recoil moves; I'll use them, but I don't like them. And 3: If listing my stats makes it competative, don't bash me, I'm new around here. You can probably see my battling style is to either outlast the foe or take them out quickly, depending on who I use. Well, let me know what you think.

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Here are some of my reccomendations to CynthiaLover's team:
Torterra:
1-Replace leaf storm with stone edge
2-Make him hold the leftovers

Blaziken
1-Replace blast burn with shadow claw so he can deal with psychic types better
2-Replace his held item with Muscle band

Empoleon
1-Consider flash cannon over steel wing
2-Consider teaching it grass knot instead of brick break
3-I think perhaps if you focused training it on a single offensive stat it would be more effective

Gardevoir
1-Would be a MUCH better defender with:
Hold:Light clay
Reflect/Light screen
Protect
Psychic
Wish

Garchomp
1-Consider crunch over Draco Meteor
2-Again, perhaps focusing on a single offensive stat could prove more effective

Lucario
1-If he's a special sweeper why not make him hold th wise glasses?

Some of your pokemon's natures dont really help much.
(Also I edited my team its on page 14!)<-sorta rhymes
