The In-Game Team Advice Thread

SS team

That's my in-game team in SS.
It's a sandstorm team,but i think a few advises won't hurt.
The three i'm not going to change.

Tyranitar(a.k.a the Sandstreamer)
Impish,@Choice Scarf
Crunch
EarthQuake
Dark Pulse
Stone Edge
Magnezone(a.k.a the Spacial Sweeper)
Calm,@Magnet
Magnet Rise
Zap Cannon
Lock-On
Discahrge

Skarmory(a.k.a the Wall)
Jolly,@Sharp Beak
Slash
Fly
Night Slash
Steel Wing

Now,the hard part.

Cardily(a.k.a. the Fossil)
Relaxed,@exp. share(for now)
Confuse Ray
Recover
Amnesia
Ingrain
Pros:sand storm gives his special defense a 50% boost, making hi a very good wall and supporter, also thanks to recover.
Cons:right now,it can't attack.Also,i don't know what moves to teach him

Steelix(a.k.a Acciarock,a.k.a Rusty)
Brave,@ nothing
Iron Tail
Crunch
Earth Quake
Stone Edge
Pros:eek:btained from a trade with Jasmine, few weakness, high defense and high attack, incredible STAB erthquake.
Cons:don't know.

Last,but not the least:
Fortress(a.k.a Fort,a.k.a "that freaking bug can block anything!)
Sassy,@Leftovers
Spikes
Bug Bite
Gyro Ball
Iron Defense
Pros:caught it at lv 7 as a pineco,incredible longevity,just a great pokémon
Cons:none really,however,i could trade it for a beldum,getting a Metagross who,i think,is better.

Pokémon i'd like to use:

Ninjask(a.k.a. the Speedo Baton Passer)
Baton Pass(capitan obvious)
Night Slash/Fury cutter(Don't know)
Protect
Sword Dance
Cons:need to get the TMs for portect and Sword Dance

I also have a Numel and a Slugma,to counter the dangerous fire weakness of the team.
Numel,once evolved,it's a great pokémon.
On the other hand,Magcargo would get a sp. def. boost in the sand storm.
I just ask you to help me out, please.
Also,i'd like some advises on the moves.

First of all, there is never a need to restart your game. You can always get different pokemon if you don't like the ones you have. That being said... Shadow Claw and Sucker punch HAVE TO GO. Gengar has crappy attack. Replace it with Shadow Ball and some other special move, some good ideas are Focus Blast or Energy Ball.
Another thing, it'd be a good idea to replace Thunder with Light Screen once Ampharos learns it, and get rid of Charge as well, and possibly replace it with Flash (which can help you set up on the opponent.)
Other than that, there's not that much wrong with it except for slam and water gun, which are pretty much useless.

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Here's my current Battle Frontier team for SS/Plat (doesn't matter really):

Infernape [Focus Sash]
:Nature : Naughty
:EVs : 252 ATK, 252 SPD, 6 HP
:Moves :
::Flame Wheel (considering replacing with Flare Blitz)
::Close Combat
::Swords Dance (I think)
::Earthquake

Floatzel [Expert Belt]
:Nature : Adamant
:EVs : 252 ATK, 252 SPD, 6 HP
:Moves :
::Waterfall
::Ice Punch
::Brick Break
::Giga Impact

Luxray [Brightpowder]
:Nature : Brave
:EVs : 252 ATK, 252 HP
:Moves :
::Thunder Fang
::Crunch
::Return
::Double Team

So? Is there anything to replace Floatzel's Giga Impact or Infernape's Swords Dance, because those two are the ones I have doubts with. Quite confident with Luxray's Evasion Hax. :B

Well, since your Infernape's Naughty, you could go for Flamethrower/Fire Blast. You might have to give up some of your Attack or Speed EVs, though.

You can also ditch Floatzel's Giga Impact for Return (which is a bit weaker than Giga Impact, but its base power will be high, assuming Floatzel likes you a lot).

As for Luxray, you can replace Thunder Fang with Spark. Both moves have the same Base Power, but Spark is more accurate, and has a better paralysis chance. Luxray could use the paralysis support and has little use for Thunder Fang's flinch side-effect (which is rather low, anyway).

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Umm could someone rate my team?
I go for an all out attack aproach and rarely use moves without damage
but ill listen if it needs changing.
Also i dont know wtf EV'S and IV'S are...lawls

HP 196/ATTACK 152/DEFENCE 138/SP.ATTACK 163/SP.DEFENCE 130/SPEED 185
MOVES//Flamethrower//Earthquake//Rocktomb//Eruption

Eruption is really unecessary, anything supportive like Sunny Day would help out a lot more

Lucario-Nickname Aura
LV 66
Ability-Steadfast
Serious Nature
HP 190/ATTACK 170/DEFENCE 120/SP.ATTACK 177/SP.DEFENCE 119/SPEED 156
MOVES//Bone Rush//Extremespeed//Aura Sphere//Dragon Pulse

Lucario is an attacker, so you have the right idea with some off moves. Aura sphere is good considering his Sp At stat, but I would throw in Substitute to help eat some damage. A Swords Dance and Focus Punch combio would also go well with the Substitute

Flygon
LV 46
Ability-Levitate
Serious Nature
HP 139//ATTACK 109//DEFENCE 94//SP.ATTACK 93//SP.DEFENCE 86//113
MOVES//Crunch//DragonBreath//Dragon Claw//Fly

Dragonbreath is pointless with dragon claw, this could also be replaced with something better, most recommended would be a STAB attack in Earthquake.

Electivire
LV 47
Ability-Motor Drive
Lonely Nature
HP 141/ATTACK 147/DEFENCE 67/SP.ATTACK 113/SP.DEFENCE 96/SPEED 112
MOVES//Discharge//Thunderbolt//Thunderpunch//Low Kick//

Another kind of redundant moveset. Keep the thunderpunch, replace low kick with focus punch or some other powerful fighting move, give him an ice punch to fight the ground weakness, then throw on a powerful physical move of your choice

Lapras
LV 45
Ability-Shell Armor
Jolly Nature
HP 178/ATTACK 88/DEFENCE 84/SP.ATTACK 81/SP.DEFENCE 101/SPEED 84
MOVES//Sing//Body Slam//Surf//Ice Beam

Pretty good setup already. Would be better with water absorb than shell armor, but its fine. Surf and ice beam are perfect, sing will probably help, but I would throw a thunderbolt in there instead of body slam for type coverage

Umbreon
LV 40
Ability-Synchronise
Adamant Nature
HP 129/ATTACK 78/DEFENCE 97/SP.ATTACK 60/SP.DEFENCE 122/SPEED 67
MOVES//Pursuit//Quick Attack//Confuse Ray//Cut
(Its moves are horrible yes, i need TM'S)
Umbreon is kind of a wall pokemon, so it will want to actually have more defensive moves than offensive. Moonlight is a must, pretty much a recover move. Crunch would probly be the best attacking move, Curse would be a good defensive booster whle boosting crunch, and toxic would help with all the types resistant to crunch

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

(quoting above post)
-Typhlosion is way too frail for supportive sets. Stick with Eruption; Typhlosion could use it for the early game.
-Lucario may not have time to pull off the Sub-punch combo, so stick with that set.
-I agree; Dragonbreath is weak in base power, so you can replace that with EQ
-Electivire might need Low Kick to deal with heavy opponents, but something like Brick Break is fine as well. A good filler physical move would be Earthquake or Fire Punch
-I agree; Lapras could use the BoltBeam combo
-Breed that Umbreon. Umbreon can't learn Crunch. It also learns Curse as an Egg move.

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Kay thanks for clearing that up!

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Hey guys ^^ just asking what you'd think of this team:

-Nidoking@Leftovers
Earth Power
Megahorn
Flamethrower
Brick Break

-Aggron@Shell Bell
Metal Burst
Aerial Ace
Avalanche
Protect

-Rhydon@Wide Lens
Fire Punch
Earthquake
Iron Tail
Giga Impact

-Swampert@Damp Rock
Hydro Canon
Earthquake
Hammer Arm
Rain Dance

-Donphan@Scope Lens
Thunder Fang
Fire Fang
Earthquake
Giga Impact

-Torterra@Miracle Seed
Earthquake
Giga Drain
Seed Bomb
Wood Hammer

Just before you say anything, it is GROUND based, so Im aware of the Grass/Water/Ice problem, and thats why I added Fire/Electric/Fighting attacks. You can see that I have guys like Nidoking, but not Garchomp, thats just to say, that I like one not the other. I just chose pokemo I liked and did the best I could with them. Let me know how I could perhaps improve the movesets or perhaps some pokemon (keeping ground in mind):)

PS: Nidoking and Aggron arent going anywhere, they re my two favourite pokemon ^^

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Steelix-Metal Coat
Rock Climb
Stone Edge
Rock Polish
Flash Cannon

Seadra-Lax Incense

Brine
Agility
Surf
Twister

Jolteon-Magnet

Charge Beam
Light Screen
Thunder
Iron Tail

Golbat-Razor Fang

Sludge Bomb
Fly
Mean Look
Air Cutter

I dont have my last 2 pokemon but, im going to put a tangela in one spot.

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Hey guys currently I'm doing a Ruby walkthrough with only Normal type pokemons. This is also the first time I've played Ruby. So far it hasn't been too hard minus for Wattson but I'm worried about E4 since I get a hard time beating Ghost and Steel Types. I wonder what pokemons in game I could use, or catch to make things easier.

My team currently is:

Exploud level 40 @ Soothe Bell with Mild Nature

Stomp
Pound
Hyper Beam
Supersonic

Zangoone Level 39 @ Quick Claw Docile Nature

Swords Dance
Quick Attack
Crush Claw
Slash

Pidgeotto level 32 @ Amulet Coin Bashful Nature

Wing Attack
Quick Attack
Gust
Fly

Linoone Level 37 Bold Nature

Headbutt
Surf
Fury Swipes
Dig

Slathking Level 37 @ Macho Brace Jolly Nature

Slack Off
Endure
Slash
Counter

Swellow level 35 @ Silk Scarf Naive

Endeavour
Steel Wing
Quick Attack
Aerial Ace

In my PC i have a Castform, a Kecleon and a Swablu (which I can't evolve) and a Delcatty. What could I do to round my team against Steel Types and be able to easily hit Ghost Types?

Swap out swellow for keckleon, teach it flamethrower, teach your slaking flamethrower. And give your other pokemon with all normals moves other types in order to easily KO ghost pokemon.
