The In-Game Team Advice Thread

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Using some previously garnered advice, this is my current team:

Pignite Level 31
499.gif

Heat Crash
Flame Charge (soon to be replaced)
Arm Thrust
Rollout

Herdier Level 30
507.gif

Return
Work Up
Crunch
Dig

Darumaka Lvl 30
554.gif

Fire Punch
Thrash
Headbutt
Work Up

Yamask Level 27 (EXP Share)
562.gif

Ominous Wind
Hex
Will'o'wisp
Haze

Now, though, i'm not sure what to add. I'm considering maybe a water type? Virizion would also work sicne it would balance my water and ground weakness... welcome any advice for what Pokémon to add!

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Heres a basic team I have on my game. I am in desperate need of advise.

500.gif

Flameheart
Level 76,236 ATK, 131 DEF, 185 SPATK, 116 SPDEF, 143 SPD, 269 HP
Attacks:
Heat Crash
Strength
Flare Blitz
Hyper Beam
My fully-evolved starter Pokemon which I use as a Sweeper. As you can see, its use of Blunt attacks as well as its high attack makes it so it generally just tries to OHKO its foes.

644.gif

Zekrom
Level 56,180 ATK, 167 DEF, 148 SPATK, 120 SPDEF, 116 SPD, 189 HP
Attacks:
Dragon Claw
Cut
Zen Headbutt
Fusion Bolt
I... dont really know what Im trying to accomplish with this Pokemon. It's Fusion Bolt is really effective against water Pokemon, which Flameheart is deathly weak too. I also keep it handy when I want to cut down small trees- which I find are a lot more uncommon then in past generations.

357.gif

Tropius
Level 49,87 ATK, 97 DEF, 80 SPATK, 99 SPDEF, 60 SPD
Attacks:
Magical Leaf
Body Slam
Fly
Flash
Another Pokemon I use mainly to fix Flameheart's Water-weakness. This one proves it can destroy Water-type Pokemon of pretty much every level. Its effectiveness against Pokemon 28 Levels above it is note-worthy.

594.gif

Cocamola
Level 12,23 ATK, 29 DEF, 17 SPATK, 16 SPDEF, 23 SPD
Attacks:
Pound
Surf
Dive
Waterfall
A HM Slave used solely for a aquatic transportation. I'm not sure if I should level it up or not. Other then that, their isn't a substantial amount of things to say about this Pokemon...

55.gif

Psygold
Level 57,101 ATK, 99 DEF, 102 SPATK, 110 SPDEF, 111 SPD, 171 HP
Attacks:
Soak
Psych Up
Zen Headbutt
Amnesia
A good sweeper against weaker teams, and it is also useful for catching wild Pokemon. Other then that, I only have it because I like Golducks.

437.gif

BRONZONG
Level 42,84 ATK, 115 DEF, 72 SPATK, 128 SPDEF, 41 SPD, 118 HP
Attacks:
Flash Cannon
Safeguard
Protect
Gyro Ball
My attempt at some sort of Wall. Bassically, I EV trained, raising its Defense, its Special Defense, and its HP. Then I added moves like "Safeguard" and "Protect", just in case.

I know Im a suckish strategist, but the NPC's have such bad AI and Pokemon that their is really no need to become a veteran strategist offline.

Virizion does seem like a good idea, but if you want an early-game Pokemon, Sewaddle might help here, it gets 2 dependable STAB Moves in Bug Bite and Razor Leaf, very early and it's final evolution, Leavanny boasts a 103 Attack and 92 Speed stat, it might be helpful against Caitlin and other users of Water/Psychic types. A powerful and bulky Special Attacker like Reuniclus might help in the long run, as well. Also, if this isn't a competitive team, you may want to get rid of Haze for moves that offer more coverage, since NPCs rarely stat boost.

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Haze is merely filler until I get some decent TMs or Yamask gets some decent moves. Hmm...Sewaddle might be worth looking at...do you know if it works well?

From the top:

1.) I suggest replacing Strength with Hammer Arm as it has a 150 base power with STAB.
2.) I suggest getting rid of Cut and replacing it with Wild Charge for a good STAB move. Alternatively, Stone Edge or Rock Slide could be used to cover the ice weakness.
3.) Give it Energy Ball to replace Flash
4.) Um, replace Pound with Return?
5.) Unable to comment.
6.) Replacing Flash Cannon with Toxic would probably make it a better wall.

Rhydon

That gives you the most types.

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Samurott (Monterey)
Lv. 73
False Swipe
Ice Beam
Brick Break
Surf

Get a Heart Scale and teach Samurott Megahorn, it hits hard. Then, replace Brick Break with Revenge.

Typhlosion (Flare)
Lv. 91
Earthquake
Eruption
Brick Break
Double Edge

Typhlosion isn't the greatest Physical attacker, but EQ and Double-Edge are powerful enough to make it usable. Brick Break, on the other hand, isn't. So replace that with either Focus Blast (for power) or SolarBeam (for coverage).

Meganium (Grace)
Lv. 89
Toxic
Earthquake
Body Slam
Razor Leaf

Razor Leaf? That's the best you can do? Why not Petal Dance, or Giga Drain, or SolarBeam? Oh, and Return is stronger if Mega's at full happiness, so use that instead of Body Slam.

Empoleon (Tacky)
Lv. 100
Surf
Ice Beam
Brick Break
Earthquake

Flash Cannon is strong enough to be a secondary STAB move, so use it over Brick Break.

Staraptor (Focus)
Lv. 93
Fly
Brave Bird
Close Combat
Secret Power

You already have Brave Bird, so ditch Fly for Return or Take Down. U-Turn can be used if the bird's in trouble.

Victini
Lv. 63
Thunder
Flame Charge
Zen Headbutt
Brick Break

I would go for a Special-based set. For that, use a Heart Scale to re-teach it Searing Shot. The, use a TM on it for Psychic, Thunderbolt over Thunder, and either Shadow Ball or Energy Ball. If you're going for Power, then keep Thunder and teach it Fire Blast/Overheat, SolarBeam, and Focus Blast.

I notice that a lot of your 'Mons have Brick Break. DO you have a problem with Dark-Types or something?

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Thanks for the help. The overuse of Brick Break is mostly because I've been getting lots of Dark-types in my battles.

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

I'm usually one to say "Good trainers don't use legendaries," but I'm sort of a hypocrite, because I use Victini.

Victini - Lv83 - Gentle Nature - Victory Star
-Fire Blast (8 PP)
-Flare Blitz (15 PP)
-Hyper Beam (5 PP)
-Psychic (10 PP)

Cinccino - ♂ Lv82 - Serious Nature - Technician
-Thunder (10 PP)
-Sing (15 PP)
-Tail Slap (16 PP)
-Hyper Beam (5 PP)

Sigilyph - Lv87 - Bashful Nature - Magic Gaurd
-Sky Attack (8 PP)
-Psychic (10 PP)
-Ice Beam (10 PP)
-Fly (15 PP)

Serperior - ♂ Lv82 - Lax Nature - Overgrow
-Frenzy Plant (5 PP)
-SolarBeam (10 PP)
-Aerial Ace (20 PP)
-Energy Ball (10 PP)

Zoroark - ♂ Lv87 - Lax Nature - Illusion
-Giga Impact (5 PP)
-Night Daze (10 PP)
-Shadow Ball (15 PP)
-Hyper Beam (5 PP)

Eeks (Rotom) - Lv81 - Gentle Nature - Levitate
-Discharge (15 PP)
-Thunder (12 PP)
-Thunderbolt (15 PP)
-Shadow Ball (15 PP) - Also move for when it switches formes

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

I'm usually one to say "Good trainers don't use legendaries," but I'm sort of a hypocrite, because I use Victini.

Victini - Lv83 - Gentle Nature - Victory Star
-Fire Blast (8 PP)
-Flare Blitz (15 PP)
-Hyper Beam (5 PP)
-Psychic (10 PP)

Two Fire-Type moves on a single PKMN? Take out Flare Blitz & Hyper Beam, and replace it with Thunder{bolt} & Shadow/Energy Ball or SolarBeam.

Cinccino - ♂ Lv82 - Serious Nature - Technician
-Thunder (10 PP)
-Sing (15 PP)
-Tail Slap (16 PP)
-Hyper Beam (5 PP)

You've got Tail Slap already, so replace Thunder & Hyper Beam with Bullet Seed and Rock Blast. I guess Sing can stay.

Sigilyph - Lv87 - Bashful Nature - Magic Gaurd
-Sky Attack (8 PP)
-Psychic (10 PP)
-Ice Beam (10 PP)
-Fly (15 PP)

Sky Attack is powerful, but it takes two turns to use, and on top of that, Sigilyph's Attackk isn't all that high. Instead, replace it with Air Slash. Same deal with Fly, but with Energy/Shadow Ball or Charge Beam. Also, it may be a bad idea to have two Psychic-Types on your team. Just sayin'.

Serperior - ♂ Lv82 - Lax Nature - Overgrow
-Frenzy Plant (5 PP)
-SolarBeam (10 PP)
-Aerial Ace (20 PP)
-Energy Ball (10 PP)

In this case, I would ditch all of those Grass-Type moves and replace them with Leaf Blade. Then put Dragon Tail amd Swords Dance there to boost his Attack.

Zoroark - ♂ Lv87 - Lax Nature - Illusion
-Giga Impact (5 PP)
-Night Daze (10 PP)
-Shadow Ball (15 PP)
-Hyper Beam (5 PP)

It looks pretty good. All I would suggest is replacing Giga Impact with Flamethrower.

Eeks (Rotom) - Lv81 - Gentle Nature - Levitate
-Discharge (15 PP)
-Thunder (12 PP)
-Thunderbolt (15 PP)
-Shadow Ball (15 PP) - Also move for when it switches formes

Ahuh. Thunderbolt is stringer than Discharge and more accurate than Thunder, so remove thise two. In their place, use Hex and Will-o-Wisp. I think Uproar would be OK for the filler-move-that-gets-replaced-whenever-Rotom-ghanges-forms slot.

You wanted a comment, right? They're in bold.

Also, I noticed that this team is pretty similar to the first one you posted, with one exception:

Haxorus (F) Lv55 - In training
Gentle nature
-Dragon Dance
-Surf
-Giga Impact
-Dragon Claw

Dragon Claw is good enough, but replace it with Outrage when he gets to that level. Surf on him is kinda meh, since his Sp.Atk ain't that high. Replace it with Earthquake. Now, Giga Impact is cool, but it needs t a recharge turn. So, you could replace it for another move, but that's your call.

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

So, I'm getting ready to take on the E4 for the second time in Black and I want to level up my team a bit more before doing so. I'll post what it looks like so far. :]

497.gif

Serperior (Female) lv. 69 (yes, my starter is female rather than the more common male)
- Giga Drain
- Leaf Blade
- Leaf Storm
- Cut

523.gif

Zebstrika (Female) lv. 69
- Spark
- Flame Charge
- Wild Charge
- Thrash

620.gif

Meinshao (Female) lv. 68
- Drain Punch
- Hi Jump Kick
- U-Turn
- Bounce

643.gif

Reshiram lv. 69
- Fusion Flare
- Extrasensory
- Strength
- Dragon Pulse

553.gif

Krookodile (Male) lv. 68
- Bulldoze
- Earthquake
- Crunch
- Outrage

581.gif

Swanna (Male) lv. 68
- Water Pulse
- Surf
- Fly
- Brave Bird

I haven't decided on held items yet. By the way, my Swanna's nature turned it into a fast, heavy hitter. I'm lovin it. ^^

From the top:

1.) Looks fine to me.
2.) Might wanna swap out Stun Spore for Sludge Bomb
3.) Looks fine to me.
4.) Dump Defog with extreme prejudice and replace with Air Slash. Fly can be replaced with a special filler attack.
5.) I'd go with Ice Beam over Blizzard. Last two... Rain Dance and Scald perhaps?
6.) Give it Hail and maybe another physical filler move.

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Hey, what about my team?

Sure, it's now lv. 70-72 and I just beat Alder, but... xP

From top:

1.) Replace Cut with Toxic.
2.) Wild Charge and Spark is redundant. Replace Spark with Thunderbolt for a STAB non-contact move.
3.) I'd go for Aura Sphere instead of Bounce once you reach the right level to learn it.
4.) Replace Strength with Draco Meteor.
5.) I'd replace Bulldoze with Stone Edge.
6.) Replace Fly with Hurricane.

1: Not a bad idea.
2. No way. Zebstrika has way better attack than sp. attack. Thunderbolt would be terrible on it.
3. Again, no way. Mienshao has much better attack.
4. Seriously? Reshiram has way WAY better sp. attack than attack. The only reason I have Strength is so I can get to certain places, but I do plan to replace it.
5. Not a bad idea.
6. Um, no. I need Fly to get around and it's a pretty strong move anyway. Plus, my Swanna's attack is higher than its sp. attack.

Thanks for the input, I'll look for Stone Edge and Toxic. :]

2.) I did fairly well with a Zebstrika running a similar set to yours (Thudnerbolt instead of Spark), despite the nearly 90 point difference in Attack and Sp. Attack. I guess the 143 STAB base power won out. Either way, Return or Giga Impact could work as substitutes
3.) An always hitting attack with a STAB total of 135 sounds quite useful to me. Alternately, give it Stone Edge to cover for its flying type weakness.
4.) Draco Meteor is a special attack. Which is why I suggested dumping Strength (physical) for it.
6.) Unable to comment.
