The In-Game Team Advice Thread

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

i usually go with physical, and I would like beartic, since it is 5th gen. I also have oshawott that I could teach an ice move down the road

How about this set for Beartic:

- Icicle Crash
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide/Stone Edge
- Hail

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

FYI, I swapped out Darumaka for a Tirtouga. It has proven extremely useful, both in countering my weaknesses and being all around awesome.
Thus, I'm thinking now that that's taken care of, maybe I should just get a Mienshao and end it at that? Of course, that would replace Yamask...

tbh, u dont need mienshao at all.
If you want a sweeper, try this:
Krookodile
adamant
moxie
earthquake
crunch
brick break
rock slide.

I have defeated everyone except marshall using this guy.He is very powerful.

If you have problems with marshal, then go for braviary(white)/renuclaus(white) or gothitelle(black).

@wundrwhat

Alright a team i used:
Samurott-naughty-torrent-any item will do.
Ice beam/fang,surf,revenge and megahorn/aqua jet.

krookodile-adamant-
moxie
earthquake
crunch
brick break
rock slide.

SIMISAGE(yes its simisage)-adamant
seed bomb
brick break
shadow claw
acrobatics/any other coverage move will do.

If you want a pokemon to deal with marshall, then you can use the braviary set as suggested by drakon(just replace fly with something else.)Or you can use sigilyph.
Sigilyph-modest-
psychic
ice beam
air slash
shadow ball/charge beam/energy ball,etc.

The reamiaing 2 slots should be used for hm slaves,to make the journey as smooth as possible.

This is a very powerfull team.If you want some more advice, feel free to contact me.:)

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

I focus on stab alot and save my pokemon from super affective hits as so:

Swampert
Surf+earthquake+dig= stab
ice beam for annoying grass types.

Rayquaza
Fly+dragon claw=stab
Flamethrower for ice types
Thunderbolt for water types who know ice type attacks
Dragon claw for dragon types

Castform
Hail+sunny day+rain dance=weather balls power going to 100+stab=150 pwr!
weather ball for stab+ super affective

Breloom
Sky uppercut+giga drain+ solerbeam+stab= extreme damage
streangth because I don't know what else to teach him

Sableye (not super affected by anything, look it up+ not affected by normal/fighting)
Shadow ball+feint attack=stab
Psycic (because I said so)
Arial ace (figting types absolute worst nightmare)

Raichu (incomplete)
Thunder+thunderbolt=stab
Slam
(soon to replace quick attack with iron tail, sadly not too soon)

As you can see my pokemon dont know growl or any stat changing move. When someone is beating my pokemon into comas I dont care about stats. I also dont have hm slaves.

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

I just started a new game, but I am stuck on Clay.

Vanira (Vanilite)
-Male Lv 22
Uproar
Icy Wind
Mist
Avalanche

Mantle (Dwebble)
-Male Lv30
Rock Slide
Faint Attack
Smack Down
Bug Bite

Kroc (Krokorok)
-Female Lv29
Retaliate
Swagger
Sand Tomb
Crunch

Osh (Dewott)
-Male Lv30
Revenge
Fury Cutter
Water Pulse
Razor Shell

Quill (Tranquill)
-Male Lv29
Roost
Air Cutter
Leer
Quick Attack

For my sixth member, I'm thinking Joltik (-> Galvantula).

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

I just started a new game, but I am stuck on Clay.

Vanira (Vanilite)
-Male Lv 22
Uproar
Icy Wind
Mist
Avalanche

Doesn't seem like there's a lot that can be done right now. All I can think of is Flash Cannon, and that'll come much later.

Mantle (Dwebble)
-Male Lv30
Rock Slide
Faint Attack
Smack Down
Bug Bite

Get Dig for now, and replace Smack Down with it. If you want, you can replace on of those moves with Stealth Rock (though I wouldn't).

Kroc (Krokorok)
-Female Lv29
Retaliate
Swagger
Sand Tomb
Crunch

Sand Tomb? Naw, Dig is better. As for Retaliate, it's OK, but the PP is a letdown. I'd go with a filler for now.

Osh (Dewott)
-Male Lv30
Revenge
Fury Cutter
Water Pulse
Razor Shell

Uh, I don't think Water Pulse is necessary, since you have the stronger (and better) Razor Shell. Since all your moves are Physical, I'd put WorkUp on him.

Quill (Tranquill)
-Male Lv29
Roost
Air Cutter
Leer
Quick Attack

Eh, Tranquill's not that great. If you want to use him, ditch Air Cutter for something else.

For my sixth member, I'm thinking Joltik (-> Galvantula).

Oh yes, a Galvantula with both Thunder and Compundeyes would be deadly.
To be honest, I think maybe you should ditch Tranquill for someone else. Maybe a Litwick or Elgeym or somethin'.

Now, for Clay, you'll wanna use Oshawott's Razor Shell and/or Revenge. Though, in all likelyhood, he won't be strong enoough. If so, evolve him into Dewott*.
*Make sure you have an Eviolite on him!

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

I imported some pokemon into my white. Right now I have:

Persian
Level 45
Pay Day
Toxic
Slash
Hone Claws

Primeape
Level 35
Brick Break
Focus Energy
Rock Slide
Seismic Toss

Fearow
Level 48
Agility
Fly
Roost
Drill Peck

Spheal
Level 49
Surf
Frost Breath
Blizzard
Shear Cold

Aggron
Level 43
Rock Slide
Dragon Tail
Iron Head
Metal Sound

I know to level my Spheal up twice to evolve it into Walrein. But I need help with my move sets, and what last Pokemon to add to my party.

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Erm, my team on the second to last page has not been rated.

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Physical or special based?

For the physical, you've got Mamoswine, Beartic and Weavile. Special, Jynx or Glaceon.

Though, teaching Ice Beam to a non-ice type with high SP attack seems like a better option. If only because ice has five weaknesses, three of which are common types used in attacking.

------------------------------------

Well, here's my team:

Scolipede (Lv 56) - Serious - Poison Point - Black Sludge
- Megahorn
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
- Poison Jab

Volcarona (Lv 82) - Modest - Flame Body - Shell Bell
- Heat Wave
- Quiver Dance
- Bug Buzz
- Fire Blast

Samurott (Lv 91) - Quirky - Torrent - Mystic Water
- Waterfall
- Hydro Pump
- Surf
- Ice Beam

Zebstrika (Lv 91 - Brave - Motor Drive - Magnet
- Thrash
- Thunderbolt
- Flame Charge
- Wild Charge

Braviary (Lv 82) - Impish - Sheer Force - Leftovers
- Superpower
- Brave Bird
- Rock Slide
- Fly

Liepart (Lv 66) - Quiet -Limber - None
- Thief
- Grass Knot
- Night Slash
- Echoed Voice
The only problem about your team is that the levels are too far apart.

Now, the last part irks me. Growl sucks. But generalization is bad. You can't compare Growl to stuff like Sunny Day, which would be vital for saving Swampert from Grass-types, giving Breloom an invincible SolarBeam, and giving Rayquaza extra power on Flamethrower. And remember; never give a Pokémon moves that contradict it's general stats. Think of Rampardos-best physical attacker in the metagame aside from Deoxys-A, and awful Sp-Atk. So ya don't give it Surf, right? Because while it has higher base power than Waterfall, due to stats it only does half damage. Also, don't forget stats in general. I would drop Castform, really all it can get with stab Weather Ball is, like, 65, maybe 75. You can't have Hail, Rain, and Sunny Day all on at once, you can't have Castform as three types at once. Stats matter more than they seem, and always balance teams.

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Samurott Lv. 81
Hydro Cannon
Swords Dance
Ice Beam
Surf

Zekrom Lv. 81
Dragon Claw
Psychic
Fusion Bolt
Thunder Bolt

Fly
Air Slash
Razor Wind
Sky Attack

Victini Lv. 81
Thunderbolt
Shadow Ball
Psychic
Searing Shot

Darmanitan Lv. 81
Fire Punch
Flare Blitz
Thrash
Hammer Arm

Cobalion Lv. 80
Swords Dance
Retaliate
Iron Head
Sacred Sword

Alright so this is my team for my White Version. Basically I just want some opinions on it. I know that Unfezant's an awful pokemon but it was my little cousins favorite new pokemon so I promised her i'd have it on my team :p This is from my first run through the game and i'm pretty happy with what i've accomplished and the other pokemon i've caught so i'm not planning on restarting this one. I'll probably just trade some newly hatched pokemon over to my Black version once it arrives.

^Thanks for the advice. I haven't even looked at this game in months so i'm not sure what I was thinking with the movepools. I was pretty confident when I looked at it the other day that it didn't matter since this team is in-game and they're at such a high level. I was originally gonna have Pansear on the team, but I discovered how much it sucked so I chucked it. Since it was a fire type I wanted to replace it with another fire type. Did some research and found that Darmanitan had a lot of potential so I threw him in there.

Blue, just so you know, Zekrom has much higher attack than sp. attack. With that in mind, have you considered Wild Charge instead of Thunderbolt?

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Sorry about the mistake, I'll post here.

Darmanitan does do well, but if he gets hit super effetively, he's down. Be careful.
And like you say, you're right, in-game at high levels, your team could be all bidoof and it wouldn't matter. THe only thing i'd still say is to replace Samurott's Swords Dance iwth Megahorn for coverage.

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

^^No I hadn't thought of that at all, but thanks i'll switch it out

^Yeah i'll get rid of Megahorn whenever I start playing White again. Just restarted my LeagGreen so i'm gonna work on that for a while.

I have serperior and swoobat on my elite 4 (first time) team which I am training now. I can't say much about the other 4 though.

serperior- if you are going to put slam/leaf tornado in its moveset you should replace something (not leaf blade) with coil because it kind of helps with accuracy. Slam especially has an accuracy problem!

Swoobat- Love that you have psychic and air slash on it, even fly (for conveniants and its a better move in gen 5). Air cutter though could be replacable with a strong special attack move (shadow ball maybe or one of similar strength). Once I got air slash I got rid of air cutter, because it looked like an upgrade to the move. Just one guy's opinion, great pokemon team.

This is a very solid team.
Serperior: Replace Mega train with coil and you might want to replace leaf tornado with something like aerial ace.
Excadrill: Replace dig with X-scizor.
Ferrothorn: Remove mirror shot and self destruct and put in curse and payback.
Escavalier:Remove bug buzz and replace it with something like poison jab or aerial ace.
Chandelure:Good set.
Swoobat:Remove air cutter and put in something like charge beam.

Why would you put a special attack on a physical attacker? Other than that, unless you want physical/special coverage, pretty useless

Pupitar: not bad replace torment with some other coverage move, dark pulse can be replaced with crunch once it learns it.
Ursaring: Replace arial ace with brick break or dig or hammer arm.
Victreebel:Good
Lapras:Remove perish song. Its not useful in-game.Thunderbolt,body slam all are better.
Hypno:Not bad
Togekiss:Excellent.but you might want to consider t-wave.Twave + serene grace + air slash=mass murderer.

@Jack of Blades
No,dragon types don't wall ursaring.
Dream eater is psychic and he can use drain punch to dent dark types.
Only three of his pokes are weak to fighting and fighting pokes stand no chance against hypno and togekiss.

Thanks, And I've replaced drain punch on my hypno to focus blast with 7pp, a much more effective defense.

Pupitar also just learned crunch, so that's pretty cool.

As for perish song, I went with t-bolt. :p

Thanks for your advice!
