The In-Game Team Advice Thread

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

This is my planned team to use for B2/W2 this October:

Samurott (Torrent) – Rain Dance, Surf, Waterfall, 4th move undecided
Lucario – Force Palm/Close Combat, Swords Dance, Ice Punch, Bone Rush/Earthquake
Espeon (Synchronize) – Psybeam/Psychic, Shadow Ball, Calm Mind, 4th move undecided
Arcanine – Flare Blitz/Heat Wave, Extreme Speed, 3rd move undecided, 4th move undecided
Flygon (Levitate) – Earthquake/Dig, Stone Edge, Outrage, Iron Tail
Galvantula – Giga Drain, Signal Beam, Thunder Wave, Electro Ball
Seviper (Shed Skin) – Toxic, Venoshock, Giga Drain, Dark Pulse
Skarmory (Sturdy) – Fly, Steel Wing, Rock Slide, Swords Dance/Roost
Beartic (Swift Swim) – Icicle Crash, Super Power, Dive, Swords Dance
HM Slave: Watchog - Cut and Strength (Will not train past Lv. 20)

You probably noticed that there are ten pokemon instead of six. I'm probably going to rotate them in and out of my team when needed and will make up for the slight difficulty of getting under leveled by using a Lucky Egg/Exp. Share. I haven't quite decided on a few moves, but other than that, it's pretty complete. I put the abilities next to the pokemon (the abilities that I'm sure of) Any opinions or suggestions?

I would suggest a Psychic type probably. And it would need a ghost type move like shadowball because your team has 3 weaknesses to psychic. Here's a team builder to make it easier: Pokemon.Marriland.com - Diamond / Pearl Team Builder

Eh...this is Gen I, there are only 3 Ghost-Types (Gastly, Haunter, Gengar) and two damaging Ghost type moves and that's Night Shade and Lick, so no Shadow Ball. Just sayin'.

You do lack something to Fly on. You could go get a Pidgeot or a Fearow, or wait until you can get Aerodactyl at Cinnabar. Or get a Psychic type. Both Kadabra/Alakazam and Hypno are very good in Gen I.

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Actually facepalm warning, read it at your own risk :D

Im now beating Pokemon Platinum, didnt loose a fight before Elite Four, but then the fist Bug Type guy screwed me twice, so Im in trouble :)
Can you suggest who I shoud change in my team, which moves I should change or If Im underlevelled where best to train pkmn that needs to level up.

Items: Plenty of Hyper Potions, Few Max ones and Full Restores, Plenty Revives and Fex Max Revives

Main PKMN:
Scyther lvl51 (Adamant) (False Swipe, Wing Attack, X-Scissor, Night Slash)
Giratina lvl50 (Bold) (Ominous Wind, Ancient Power, Dragon Claw, Shadow Force)
Infernape lvl47 (Hasty) (Close Combat, Flame Wheel, Cut, Rock Climb) //I know HM are bad
Machamp lvl45 (Lax) (Cross Chop, Seismic Toss, Revenge, Scary Face)
Alakazam lvl50 (Serious) (Shadow Ball, Psyhic, Calm Mind, Recover)

Although Got those low lvled guys
Luxray lvl41 (Quirky) (Bite, Thunder Fang, Charge, Spark)
Electabuzz lvl39 (Docile) (Shock Wave, Light Screen, Thunder Punch, Discharge)
Porygon lvl 25 (Relaxed) (Psybeam, Agility, Recover, Magnet Rise) //If necessary got both evolve items
Yanmega lvl34 (Adamant) (Ancient Power, Supersonic, Uproar, Pursuit)
Blissey lvl 36 (Brave) (Sing, Softboiled, Light Screen, Defence Curl)

And If it matters HM Slaves:
Gyarados lvl29 (Timid) (Twister, Tackle, Surf, Waterfall)
Tropius lvl32 (Jolly) (Razor Leaf, Strength, Rock Smash, Fly)

Please dont injure yourself with facepalms

Copied that from mine closed by moderator thread, but if noone suggested anything there, I dont think that any hope left in me:spin:

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

Does your Scyther have Technician or Swarm?

I'd recommend getting rid of Infernape's HM moves and teaching it something like Fire Punch / Close Combat / Rock Slide / Thunder Punch. Personally I would do something similar with Machamp, just for the sake of coverage (Cross Chop / Rock Slide / Ice Punch Thunder Punch) but to be honest you've already got a Fighting-type there that (in my opinion) far outclasses Machamp, your Infernape.

With Fire Punch and Rock Slide alone, Infernape can handle Aaron's team almost single-handedly. The only threat would be Drapion, with Drapion's only weakness being Ground-type.

I'd recommend training up a Water-type Pokémon for Bertha, one that can use Ice Beam. A fast Water-type with Ice Beam could sweep her whole team aside from Whishcash, and a quick Grass-type attack (teach your Giratina Energy Ball for that, problem solved) will put an end to Wishcash.

Flint, again, sweept by a fast enough Water-type and a little help from Infernape's Rock-type moves.

Lucian's team you will simply tear right through. Alakazam's Shadow Ball will be useful, and Scyther's X-Scissor and Night Slash (use Night Slash on Lucian's Gallade and it'll drop like a sack of bricks.) will smash through his team. And, of course, you have your Giratina there. The real issue is his Bronzong. To be absolutely honest with you, I would just use Giratina's Earth Power and hammer Bronzong until it drops.

Cynthia won't be a problem for you really, either, if you choose your moves right and get an Ice Beam in at her Garchomp. I'd say ditch Machamp, get yourself a solid Water Pokémon and give it Ice Beam (Golduck or Tentacruel for example). And sling that Electabuzz back into your team for good measure. :p

All you need are shards for the Punch moves (which are all over the place in Platinum, as well as fairly commonly dug up in the Underground). Click here for the location of the move tutor and how many of each shard you'll need for each move. You'll also need TM80 (Rock Slide), TM13 (Ice Beam) and TM53 (Energy Ball) if you plan to go with my suggestions. Click each TM for their locations.

I hope this is helpful, and good luck, future Sinnoh Champion!

Re: TAKE NOTE: All in-game teams go here.

quick question. a slightly competitive PBR team for Colosseum research counts as in-game right?

if it does then here:
so i'm making a team for PBR (that counts as a in-game team right?) i'm mostly using it to get info for the PBR walkthrough and articles on bulbapedia, but i want to see how far i can get without throwing Gator or Burner in their, so i want to make the team decent. so far i have :

Spr_4h_132.png

Imagine @something (haven't figured out items yet)
something that lowers speed (i haven't actually breed/caught these yet)
Limber
- Transform

(Ditto, so he can only have that)

Spr_4p_473_m.png

Giant Pig @something
i have no idea
Hoping for Oblivious
-Earthquake
-Ice Fang
-Toxic
-Stealth Rock

(This is the only guy who doesn't have to keep a move on his set, as he's just gonna be used to KO things once i steal their item and copy their moves. i am very flexible with his set, but would like to keep EQ. if i don't get Oblivious, i'm going to keep breeding till i do, as i don't plan on having snow on this team.)

Spr_4d_352.png

Now You Can't @something
Sp./Defense
Color Change
-Secret Power
-Trick Room
-Aqua Tail
-Flash

(Secret power stays on, Trick room makes it so that i'm going to try for all 00 speed IVs, along with natures that decrease speed, so i'll be practicly certain to strike first)

Spr_4h_121.png

Star Me @something
Sp Atk. boosting
Natural Cure
-Camouflage
-Surf
-Thunderbolt
-Recover

( she's probs going to end up kinda like Mamoswine, KOing everything, but Camouflage stays)

Spr_4d_272_f.png

Allema (don't ask) @something
*shrug*
Swift swim if no trick room, rain dish if yes trick room
-Nature Power
-Rain Dance
-Grass Knot
-Ice Beam

(*shrug* i have no comment. this guy is really just there for nature power.if i go with this guy instead of shriftry, i'm probs going to have Luxray on instead of Absol )

Spr_4p_359.png

Disaster @something
something boosting, might go with neutral
Super Luck
-Thief
-Night Slash
-Psycho Cut
-Will-O-Wisp

(this guys my "item finder", so if he has a item, it needs to be something that is USED UP, preferably at the beginning. willing to switch with a Luxray)

Spr_4d_275_f.png

Leaf Wind @something

Early Bird
-Nature Power
-Dig
-Silver Wind
-Brick Break

here's the Shiftry that i might switch the ludicolo with

Spr_4p_405_f.png

RentingRoar @something

Rivalry
-Thief
-Thunder Fang
-Spark
-Thunder Wave

here's the Luxray i might switch Absol with this guys my "item finder", so if he has a item, it needs to be something that is USED UP, preferably at the beginning

All of these are going to be breed on SS, but i have access to DPPt too, help flushing out move sets, deciding natures, and items would be greatly appreciated

Gardivor looks good. (DON'T TWIST MY WORDS)

Zekrom should get more phyical oriented moves, so I recomend that you get rid of Dragon Breath and Thunderbolt

Rotom looks good. By the way, what fourm is it?

In my opinion, I say Darkrai should have Dream Eater and Dark Pulse instead of Shadow Ball and Faint Attack.

I hear that moves like Frenzey Plant suck, but I dissagree. Anyway, it looks good.

Kyurem looks good.

If you Google *Insert Pokemon Here* Sprites, there is this site called PLDH.net, and it usually shows up as one of the first ones. Click on the sprite you want to use, copy the one thats next to the thing that says BBCode, or has in the thing, and paste it here and...

Cool. Zekrom looks better. When it reaches Lv. 100, I recomend that you teach it Bolt Strike.

hmmm... most of them look good, but I recommend that you teach serperior frenzy plant, get rid of empoleon's hydro pump/cannon and replace it with fly, freeing up a space for salamence to learn crunch. also, switch salamence with golurk to make zoroark's illusion to be golurk's.
