The New Weekly Prompt Thread

Smash bros. ultimate. Honestly because of the returning characters such as Young Link, Pichu and Solid Snake now that Im into the Metal gear series. Second would be Mania + because OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOSH! ANGEL ISLAND ZONE MUSIC! Sonic mania += maximum hype train with what it has.

I meant for you to try and come up with an in-universe game, but that fits the prompt.

Here's this week's prompt:

Imagine Pokemon was a completely different genre than what it is--what kind of genre do you wish it was? A pure shonen adventure with power levels and all? An epic fantasy? A space opera? Be creative!

Pokémon as high fantasy: Imagine a D&D-like world where one adventures through lands filled with monsters and bonds with those that can be tamed to have wild and free adventure and to fight evil. Pokéballs are magic items, abilities are magic, and 'tamers' are the only defence against a magical wilderness.

Pokémon as speculative scifi: Strange creatures created through technology, intentionally or not, have rapidly integrated themselves into the biosphere. Their study in the wild and in captivity is of utmost important, as is the investigation of the science behind their creation. Abilities are produced through adaptive mutations.

Pokémon as a war story: It is the Sengoku Jidai, and Japan is at war. Feuding Daimyo strive to be the next Shogun, and their samurai soldiers will use every weapon at their disposal to achieve victory or to die in service to their cause. Those weapons have long included everything from swords, to bows, to fists, and even guns from gaijin traders. Now, with the creation of capture balls, the very kami themselves can be used as tools of war. Only those with true respect and love for their pokémon can unlock their greatest potential, however...

Pokémon as magical realism: Pokémon are animals with strange powers, intelligence, and independent hearts. They may become our companions, and we should feel honoured at the privilege. Yet, our lives are what they were, and this companionship is more like that of one's soul walking alongside one's body than it is one of master and subject.

Pokémon as horror: Pokémon will kill vulnerable humans. Ghosts are real and you can become such a cursed being. Pollution is creating toxic monsters that will soon render our cities uninhabitable. We cannot make sense of their powers. We are but specks on a mote of dust and we are the weakest of the specks.

Pokémon as soft scifi: Pokémon are aliens from another dimension, with biology entirely unlike our own! We must seek out their origins and- wait actually this is just the canon setting since Ultra SUMO. Whoops!

Your prompt this week:

Your characters stay up late--are they doing it for fun (such as a slumber party or a night on the town) or is there a reason (such as late night maintenance, noisy neighbors, a medical emergency, or plain old insomnia?)

Your prompt this week:

"I didn't count on this..."

You had something all planned out, and then a wrench got thrown in your plan!

What unexpected complication are your characters dealing with? Or is it an unexpected stroke of fortune that forced a change in plans?
