I'm now on the 4th island. Additionally, my Festival area is at level 10, and have been checking for facilities other people have that I could buy. One I really liked could Dye my clothing Navy Blue...

The Price: 400 FC.

Looks like I'll have to grind a lot there. -_-

Wheeelpp, this game is FOR SURE giving me much more of a challenge! The woman with the Carbink almost swept my entire team, I just barely pulled through. For the first time I lost a battle to Totem Wishiwashi (that Alomomola support is insane) and Totem Salazzle with the Poison Venoshock combo literally almost destroyed me if not for one of my then party mons~ Well, I'm complaining but I'm also NOT complaining. This is the challenge I wanted to see! I'm enjoing this to the fullest! Even if it's pissing me off, I'm glad it's not just a sweep fest like in Y and I had to challenge myself to not just run through a whole Gym with one mon. If there's one thing I'm praising the games for already, it's the difficulty spike.

Up till now, I've only had three real party members, one of which won't be permanent, but it doing wonders for the team. Today, though, I was able to snatch up and additional 3 team members, leaving one final one to go. For now, the focus will bit grinding the new members up to be able to stand up on their own.

The plot itself is getting better and better. The characters are getting more entertaining and I'm loving the bits and pieces of background info we're learning about certain characters like Lillie and Gladion~ It feels like so much is happening and yet there's still so much more to go! Next of my challenges is to meet with Olivia, which I plan on taking on tomorrow.

Team:
Torracat = Jongdae, Cutiefly = Kyungsoo, Formantis = Se Hun, Comfey =Yixing, Bounsweet = Minseok (You see now how we almost got swept by a Carbink with just Torracat, Cutiefly, and Oricorio XP + some mons not even strong enough to fight. Jongdae's blessed in that he seems to always get the burns when he needs them; he saved the team once again :'3 )

In Party Mons:
Pom-Pom Oricorio (I'll be sad to see her go 3': ) = Oh

Hella lucked out and fished a Corsola which lead to a Mareanie. All I really did was fish in the rippling areas whenever I passed them and now I have a female Mareanie in a nice looking Dive Ball. As soon as I find a Ditto I'm gonna make so much trade fodder!

Oh as long as I'm here I guess I'll talk a little bit about my journey with my Brionne. Modest male that I originally name Il Divo but latter switched to Prince since I wasn't really feeling the first name. He has been doing very good so far that he is consistently been overleveled. I've actually boxed him a few times just because I don't want him to get way stronger than anything else I have. Despite his stated nature I would imagine that Prince has gained somewhat of a conceited and prideful attitude as he can defeat most foes with less effort and less battle experience than any of the other Pokemon in my possession. But, that's not to say that every battle with him as been a breeze.

The Wishiwashi Totem battle really took me by surprise with how much trouble it gave me. I started by paralyzing Wishiwashi with Cutiefly and then sent in Brionne. I had gotten it to around half health with two moves and decided to go for Breakneck Blitz off of Round the next turn because around this point Wishiwashi had called in a Alomomola. Brionne fires off the Z-move and to my dismay Wishiwashi survives with a fat little sliver. And of course on this same turn Alomomola heals Wishiwashi back up to over half and at the end of the turn cures the paralysis with its Healer ability. I was in complete disbelief and very worried because I had just wasted my Z-move! The rest of the battle was not going well as I kept losing key members for this very battle like Cutiefly and Fomantis. Finally after getting rid of the Alomomola and some lucky do-nothing turns from Wishiwashi I was able to defeat it repeated Charge Beams from my Magnemite.

I guess I should also talk about my experience with the Fire trial which I'd say was easier than the Water trial but also very funny. That's not to say though that the Water trial didn't have it's share of amusing moments. For a Water-type specialist Lana sure is thirsty! Anyway against Totem Salazzle I knew I could probably one-shot it with Mudbray but I decided I would let Rockruff do some damage before bringing Mudbray in for a double kill. Turns out that was not gonna happen! While it is pretty frail Salazzle is also very fast and has a pretty good special attack stat. That means that when I brought in Mudbray it was two-shot before it could even make a move! After also losing Rockruff to it I eventually had Brionne come in and finish the battle just before succumbing to Salandit's Venoshock.

At this point I'm starting to get a bit worried about the Grass trial considering what people have been saying about how rough it was for them.

I'm on route 2 at the moment, just before taking on Ilima's trial. Really loving the game so far. (I went with Moon) My team at the moment is:

Rowlet lv 15
Makuhita lv 13
Cutiefly lv 9

I hadn't really planned on using Makuhita or Cutiefly for my main team, but they're what I have at the moment. (and they seem like good picks for the trial) I'm not sure if I'll keep them or not. I like Ribombee but I also really like Wimpod and it's evolution. (and Mimikyu!) The thing is I ended up catching a modest Cutiefly which seems like a really good nature for it.

The gap between getting the Pokeballs from Kukui to gaining access to a PC to buy some more is ridiculous. Although its a temp, I want a modest or timid pichu, and I already used the bulk of em on getting a hardy Pikipek with Skill Link. I loathe the day I started caring so much about my in game team.

Just finished the first trial, it wasn't so hard but it was fun. I liked how it seems like we still get to battle the trial captains, even though it's not as important now. Cutiefly really pulled it's weight in this trial though, I was ready to switch to Makuhita when the Raticate overpowered Cutiefly but she kept trucking along. I might keep Cutiefly on the team...

Team:

Cutiefly lv 13
Makuhita lv 14
Rowlet lv 15

Well actually I bought Moon yesterday and started it last night, but I only got up to the first battle with Hau before going to bed.

I started this morning in Iki Town, and have been steadily progressing through the plot while also taking my time to explore. Verdant Cavern was pretty great imo, the Makuhita I caught specifically for this trial pulled its weight and KO'd it. Easily defeated Hala thanks to 3/4 of entire party knowing super-effective moves.
Currently at Paniola Ranch.

Party:
Dartrix lv.19
Cutiefly lv.19
Trumbeak lv.18 (temporary)
Makuhita lv.17 (probably temporary, but I could change my mind)

Finally collected all cells of Zygarde and gave mine the Power Constrict ability. Went on to catch guardians. One gave me a bit of trouble. Signature move is so OP in my opinion. Next target is level 75 legendary.

Defeated the first Grand Trial, arrived at the second island and bought some clothes... though only the glasses interested me enough to wear. Also caught Rockruff, who will be an addition into my team.

Rockruff level 14
Magnemite (Shiny) level 16
Trumbeak level 16
Rowlet level 16
Butterfree level 15
Slowpoke level 15

The latter two are filler.

Defeated Hala and I'm on Akala island now. Route 4 to be exact. I added a Vullaby to my team since I last posted but I removed it again. It evolves so late AND it's a really defensive Pokemon (and I'm already thinking about getting a Mareanie which is also really defensive) I just caught a Mudbray, I do really like Mudsdale so I might add it to the team permanently.

Current team:

Dartrix lv 17
Cutiefly lv 17 (seriously thinking about ditching Wimpod for this guy)
Mudbray lv 14 (I just checked and it's Adamant which seems good for it, I've been getting pretty lucky with the natures)

I'm a bit overleveled, probably because I haven't been travelling with a full team but I'm not worrying too much about that right now. Since the leveling system is based on the 5th gen one I'm guessing it'll balance out eventually when I have a bigger team.

Been making some decent headway. Wasn't planning on playing as much as I have been but I'm done in the 3rd island and am finding Lillie on the Aether Paradise. So far so good, not too many surprises along the way but I can say it's been thoroughly enjoyable. The team:

  • Stickers the Muk (since her multied-color scheme reminded me of stickers)
  • Captain the Ribombee (since he's the unofficial captain)
  • Lilo the Crabrawler (since her evolved form reminded me of Stitch, but she wasn't a Stitch)
  • Melon the Mudsdale (it just felt fitting)
  • Vertigo the Bruxish (idek)
Bruxish took a while to find but I'm glad I was able to find a special fishing spot. 1% is absolutely ridiculous, especially for Bruxish. I love it, but it's not that great. I'm finding though that most Alolan Pokémon have a lowered appear-rate compared to Kanto mons, which is really annoying to say the least. Mimikyu, Passimian, and Comfey are only 5%, and there's a lot of others too which is just frusterating.

Anyway, that's really it. Nothing exciting has happened otherwise.

Going Ultra Breast hunting, already caught Nihilego and the two Buzzwole are next. My current team is Primarina, Toucannon, Solgaleo, Hariyama, Magnezone, and Mudsdale.

Well, me and my team of misfits (Felicia, Heathcliff, Petra, and Bronk) made it to Aether Foundation to fight the big bads. Man, I saw this plot coming a million miles away. Just looking at the character designs and color palettes, you know what I mean. Also, the creepiness of the whole "artificial paradise" thing was kind of a giveaway, as well.

Kind of tempted to add Passimian to my team. I managed to catch one and fell in love with the design! I'm guessing it and Oranguru are version exclusives, which I don't mind. I love lemurs so I love this thing! Maybe when I'm finished with the game, I'll breed it and use it in online matches. =D

Got a lot done today so this is going to be a really long one.

First off, I started in Heahea City and got the most important stuff out of the way first...shopping:) And thank goodness the shop had skirts, finally. Since I'm playing Sun, I couldn't get a green one like in my avatar, so I went with the Yellow-Print Flared Skirt. I also got a pink Polka-Dot Ruffled Tank and white Horn-Rimmed Glasses.

I finally used the Breakneck Blitz Z-Move against Dexio with my Rockruff, Helios. Leveling him up was the major task that had to get done. And in that time period I probably used Breakneck Blitz more times than I can count. I also used Z-Howl a lot to get a nice double attack boost. I did like how the one Sightseer trainer had a normal Rattata.

I caught a Mudbray who I called Bree who stuck around with me for a bit. I used her in the battle against Hau where she weakened his Pikachu a bit for Helios to finish off with Breakneck Blitz. Abysunnyan evolved into a Torracat after the battle by defeating Dartix. I was surprised to see Hau with a Z-Ring. I thought this would be something like ORAS where he gets it at the end of the storyline or something. I just want to know where it went after the battle...

I then battled Gladion and beat him fairly easily. I'm really interested in his relationship with Team Skull, as the grunts don't even seem to consider him a member. I increased Helios and Soleanna's (Cutiefly) affection another level in PokeRefresh after the battle. It's funny because Soleanna's dialogues will often mention her looking tired and she tends to be sleeping when I try to interact with her in Refresh:p I also caught a Fomantis to help me out for the trial since I knew what was coming.

Then I took on Lana's trail. And my gosh could this girl be a bigger troll. She's going on and on about hoping these rowdy Wishiwashi are helpless, hunky swimmers when she knows good and well that she's testing us. And then her comments about Kyogre and catching a shiny Gyarados which have some questionable truth behind them... So yeah, she's a major troll.

Moving on to the actual trail, Totem Wishiwashi was a monster. The thing gets a rainstorm to boost its water-type moves, it holds a Sitrus Berry to heal itself, and partners in the form of a Brine using Solo Wishiwashi and a Alomomola with Heal Pulse and Healer. My Pokemon were all level 19 at the highest which wasn't too bad considering that Totem Wishiwashi was level 20, which I kinda predicted it would be. But all those factors I mentioned added to the fact that I had a Fire, Rock, and Ground-type on my team made for quite a long fight. I actually thought I'd lose. One major benefiting factor to our win was the fact that he kept using Soak to make my team water-type, thus allowing them to resist his Water Gun.

Basically, my strategy was to have Soleanna use Stun Spore to paralyze him. Then use Stuggle Bug to lower his Sp. Attack as much as possible. Then send out Bree to lower his and his allies' speed with Bulldoze. Then just hammer him with attacks until the end. It took a while, so much so that he reverted into his solo form, but I ended up winning.

I then made it to the Battle Royal dome where I lost after being hit with a Rock Throw from Masked Professor's Rockruff:p Poor Soleanna. I did however upgrade my Poke Finder to level 3 after taking an amazing close up shot of a Butterfree in the air.

I'm now going to train a bit before taking on Kiawe's trial. I've caught a Pa'u Oricorio that I hope to have for some backup. But overall things are going great. I really hope to get my Akala capture by tomorrow, along with some other mon's capable of using Z-Moves with the crystals I have.

Day 2
Went to Pokémon School and discover that they are particularly nasty when it comes to one-on-one, especially the Electric Type ones. Fortunately, I can switch out Pokémon in that time period. Caterpie evolved very quickly and I got a lot of new Pokémon. First Alola Form is Meowth at school. After school, took a break until hours later. Then did some character customization at the city. And got a female Alola Ratatta, male Pichu, some fighting Pokémon, and much more.

Island Trial is nice and Team Skull is pretty funny. Like these people are trying so hard to be like Team Rocket grunts, and fail miserably. Jessie and James were more intimidating than them. Island Trial is interesting, though I wonder if it's worth two gyms considering how fast Rowlet was reaching Level 17. Must be the Experience Share, and I worry that it might make Dartrix overpowered before we get to the second island.

The Refresh after is a nice aspect, though why is at only certain occasions or Pokémon?

Did the Grand Trial and it wasn't that hard. Mainly because the Pokémon I sent out were Flying Types. Got the Fighting Z-crystals and now I wonder if I should sail to the next island or try to get that Tapu-Koko. Additionally, how do I get more beans?

Various set ups like berry collecting, festival square, cafes and Lillie's story. Too much to talk about.

Current Team:

Dartrix (Artemis. Female, Lv. 19)
Trumbeak (Pearl. Female, Lv. 16)
Butterfree (Bugsy. Male, Lv 14)
Alola Meowth (Regal. Male, Lv. 16)
Alola Rattata (Freedom. Female, Lv. 15)
Pichu (Pihau. Male, Lv. 15)

The story so far...

Playing Moon. Drake arrives in Kalos, chooses Rowlet. I'm going slowly (over 7 hour mark and just beat the first trial) since I'm capturing and leveling a lot of things and spending plenty of time in the festival.

Hau was easy both times. School was easy enough; the teacher's Magnemite may have been tricky if Grubbin wasn't there, but Mud Slap put the magnet in it's place.

Team Skull are...well, they're just as competent as every other team grunt but people acknowledge it. I love them.
Rotomdex is hit or miss so far. We'll see how it develops.

Ilmia was tougher than most first "bosses" but still far from bad; Smeargle had me worried for a bit after it busted out a critical ember and one-shotted Magnemite. Alola Meowth managed to finish him though.

Takes me a while to get through Route 2 since I keep capturing and then having to level things, plus running back to report my Drifloon capture, but I reach the cave. In a stunning display of brilliance I box my Makuhita before going into the trial. The trial from the normal type captain, because I am an experience strategist who finds nought but victory in a hundred battles.

Edit: The Ikue Pikachu trainer in the cemetary was depressing in a meta way.

I was going in with a plan, though, and a plan is half of victory; Magnemite was reasonably tanky (no Sturdy ability sadly) and should easily survive long enough to Thunderwave the boss ( was hoping Totem Pokémon wouldn't have Arbitrary Status Immunity like many RPG bosses), then Pikachu can use Electro Ball to blast it to pieces, proving my faith in her and validating going to all the trouble to get that move.

Raticate gets flinch hax with Bite twice in a row, but with a Super Potion Magnemite holds on just long enough to Thunderwave him, then goes down, duty complete. Pikachu comes out to finish off Mr. Corleone.

I was slightly worried when my electro ball still did less than half damage despite being a critical.

Despite this unpleasant surprise, a lucky paralysis trigger allows Pikachu to win; after a second Electro Ball I decide to resort to hand-to-hand combat with Brick Break, which works. An oran berry saves Pikachu from a revenge KO by the summoned Rattata and she chops it for a one-shot finish. I claim my Z-crystal which I'll probably forget about by tomorrow. Pikachu and Magnemite get bonuses cuddles and snacks in Refresh.

Pokémon seeing usage so far (others are sitting unused in the reserve):
*Rowlet (not a ton, actually, since Grass isn't a great type so far. But he's done Okay!)
*Pikachu (was annoying to get--needed her to evolve at exactly level 13 to get both Nasty plot and Electro Ball. Pulled it off though by buying her happiness meals in the festival plaza, and she did her job. Has a bright future with psychic powers).
*Grubbin (did his job early on by beating Magnemite. Probably redundant with other electric type Pokémon but I keep 'em for now)
*Pikipik (done very little. Now has Brick Break so that will be nice)
*Yungoos (done verry little except take time to level up. I'll give him a chance to wow me with the new Z-move)
*Growlithe (done okay. Still low level)
*Gastly (boxed until a decent attack TM arrives)
*Alola Meowth (has technician so bite's okay. Has rather better special attack than regular so TMs will be needed soon.)
*Slowpoke (meh so far. Unlikely to get much traction once I'm high enough level to unleash Greninja)
*Magnemite (won't become Magnezone for a very long time so it'll see less use once Pikachu evolves)
*Butterfree (here for capturing once they learn the right skills)
*Munchlax (Hold Back means he captures well! Will eventually become True Power)
*Makuhita (used one in ORAS so he won't see much past Machop's capture).

Future capture plans:
*Machop. I need someone that punch people really hard and also confuse them. Nobody is better at this. Downside is trade evo. Plus side is that No Guard Machamp always outperforms my expectations, even when it should have lost according to all the math.
*Bewear. I have no idea how long it'll take to set up a tradeback, and in the meantime Bewear can do the "punching people really hard" thing pretty well, too.
*Metang. I always have a Metagross. ALWAYS.
*Mimikyu. Because Mimikyu. <3
*Rockruff. As a wolf themed Pokémon that failed every one of the expectations I had when it was first revealed, I feel I must capture one, and name him Yamcha, and make him a winner. In the name of justice.

Oh boy... And I thought finding Bruxish was bad, but Dhelmise only has a 10% appear rating in a special fishing spot. Spent nearly an hour to finding one, and of course I accidentally killed it. Thankfully I found another one within 10 minutes and was able to catch it.... but of course it has a Timid (+Speed, -Attack) nature. Great. And I'm pretty sure the first one had a +Attack nature too. Not that natures matter too much in-game, but it's still nice to have, plus Timid is the absolute worst nature it could have possibly gotten... Not really pleased, and I actually kind of hate my Dhelmise for it. Especially considering it was a last minute choice, and I had been waiting the entire game just to pick it up at the very end. It's my least favorite team member now, so thanks a lot Eugene (which is what I named it, since it anchor > Mr. Krabs is where my mind went).

Here we come Poni Island...

First Trial complete, and good lord. From the trainer school, to Route 2 and the entire ordeal, that was amazing. Totem Gumshoos rocked my world, in a good way. At some point while trying to use some sort of Strategem, Nasty plot+thunder shock on Pichu would have worked but its defense stat is complete horse shit its been stuck at 8 for 5 levels now so it can be OHKOd by a simple tackle, I said screw it and tried to brute force(Rock Smash Trumbeak is a heaven sent force of god)my way through it, and for the first time since B2W2, I was playing a juggling game of revive potions and moves, oh my. Thankfully static Paralysed Totem Gumshoos, so no ally Pokemon to ruin things further after I knocked out the yungoos. That entire thing took me 15-20 minutes, and its been so long to feel that winning rush that comes from some good ol fashion battling. Welcome back Pokemon, its been some years since we last met.
I then almost whited out at one of the den encounters on the way out, 2 yungooses sweeped me with sand attack+leer, everyone was down 6 points and I struggled to get out alive with only 3 HP on Litten. Oof, if this is what the main game is goona be like now on, god help me.
I love how the region has Trial sucession areas only, but please tell me the Trial Complete routes start showing up in the middle of the islands, and they force you to loop around, instead of being so far off the beaten path that its like Unova post game sprinkled into the main game. Cause it kinda sucks if so, then its a straight line mostly with a new loop around to enjoy. Bah.
Team Pile o Crap(hopefully gonna be Team Slay soon, hopefully, oh god why did I choose litten, thankfully I have a Dartrix from wonder trade if things go wrong)
Litten Level 14
Trumbeak Level 16
Pichu Level 15

Sooo, did end up challenging Olivia and was severely unprepared~ I didn't even wait to get swept by her Nosepass, I just restarted and went to grinding. This game really keeps you on your heels. Literally spent the whole day grinding up for her and was able to snatch the win after a decently challenging battle and getting some lucky hax.

Another thing I love is that Moon and Sun are just SO story driven. It really feels like they're putting everything into it and trying to go somewhere, whereas X and Y just felt like a whole lot of nothing (as much as I enjoyed them). Seeing the short cute cutscene of Hau and me on the way to Ula'ula Island is really making this feel like a real story and give more life to these characters.

On that note, Finally saw UB-01 at the Aether Foundation and I'm just getting some weird vibes from Lusamine. Her expressions sometimes...yikes!

Team:
Torracat = Jongdae, Rimbombee = Kyungsoo (FINALLY EVOLVED!), Stinee = Minseok, Formantis = Se Hun, Comfey = Yixing

Party Mons: Same

Day 2.5 Akala Island
After doing some Pokémon catching, particularly a good Rockruff, and getting some customizations, I was all ready and packed up to go to Akala Island. It only took a few resets due to high clothing costs and Sino being unexpectedly hard due to me lacking a good Ice-Resistance Pokémon. Anyways, got the Zygarde Cube and went on my merry way of buying a new hat, renaming a few Pokémon, before traveling up the route. It was a long journey and made only longer by Pichu's slow happiness growth (had to double the affection attention just to make sure). By Lv. 21, it still didn't despite having a Soothe Bell and four hearts of happiness. So I decided to level up it by a Rare Candy and then it finally evolved into Pikachu.

Some of these trainers are brutal when it comes to attacks. And I'm starting to have a bit of trouble making sure my team doesn't knock potentially good Pokémon out. Gladion shows up, and I start to wonder if the pace to fast or too slow. I couldn't really tell given that encounter Hau so many times already. Manage to reach the Lana Captain Trial. Fairly easy with Pikachu around, though I wish I got one of those fish.

Current Team:
Artemis (Dartrix, female. Lv. 24)
Pearl (Trumbeak, female. Lv. 22)
Biff Tannen (Yungoos, male. Lv. 17)
Pihau (Pikachu, male. Lv. 23)
Hala (Makuhita, male. Lv 22)
Rebeka (Rockruff, female Lv. 20)
