The Official Travelog + Let's Play Thread

Status
Not open for further replies.
Haven't had much time to play, but I did take some time to finish up with the Shady House and battled Guzma and then Gladion. I'll try to do the Grand Trial against Nanu tomorrow.

I probably should grind a bit since my team is literally around level 35 max and I know the upcoming Aether Battles are going to be reaching the 40s. But we'll see. I really like the challenge that comes with being super under leveled.

1/7/17-1/11/17
So I spent these four days wasting a great deal of my free time in between jobs attempting to catch as many SOS battle allies as I could.
Due to all this time spent that I wish I could get back, but never will, I can now say with much certainty that I loathe & despise SOS battling to the point where my feelings on this mechanic vacillate anywhere between intense hatred & deep-seated rage.
For all my troubles I have only these pokes to show for my efforts: Mareanie, Shelgon, Slowbro, Espeon. Yep, four. Four.
*side-eyes Adrenaline Orbs with a great deal of suspicion*

Moving on.... I finally caught a Kangaskhan at Wela Volcano so I was very happy about that.
I worked a lot on Poke Pelago, depriving my darling Pokes of their PokeBeans and got all the islands leveled up to Phase 3. So now that that's done, I can just concentrate on collecting beans and feeding them to my Pokies; and dumping them in those little crates on the islands to serve whatever in the heck purpose they are supposed to serve by doing that.

I made up my mind in the last two days that the Global Mission Island Scan was going on, to get over my fear of whatever the heck Global Missions were about and jumped in. I figured with only two days left I couldn't do too much damage. To my surprise, it wasn't something that was really difficult, or terribly involved as far as time is concerned. So I scanned in a bunch of QR codes and I nabbed a Cyndaquil & named him Tylos, and the next day nabbed a Spheal. So that actually was a pretty fun thing to do.
To that end, I decided to try my hand participating in the mini missions that are available for individual players to do. They aren't that involved either, really. You just run around the FP clicking on the correct player character people to fulfill the criteria of the mission. I got my FP leveled up to 18 doing that. And I've been asking player characters if they know any good facilities. Got a few nice 4 and 5 star facilities added.

I was also concentrating on hitting the PokeFinder spots during daytime & nighttime hours, and leveled up to Vers 4. So now I have max zoom. I am going to work on getting that 'mythical' Vers 5 as well.

Finally 100%'d my dex. Cero the Type: Null was fittingly the last one I registered as a Silvally. <3 Cero. I'll probably change his name though since he's not a Type: Null anymore. Maybe Infinito, although trying to add the -ito Spanish suffix to Infinito would be Infinitito, which is just silly (I'd been mentally calling him "Cerito" on occasion. Often, adding -ito to names in Spanish is a term of endearment).

Anyway, after that I went to Kukui to try to get the Shiny Charm. Got annoyed at him that he wouldn't give it to me, then Bulbapedia informed me that it's some guy in the GameFreak building who gives it to you. ^<__<^;; my bad~

I sort of completely forgot about collecting Zygarde cells, catching the Tapus, and doing the UB stuff until literally as I was typing this so I should probably do that at some point. I've been trying to Masuda breed a shiny Vulpix with HA and good IVs in a Moon ball but it's pretty slow going, so I think I'll take a break from that and try to SOS-chain some shinies. Also, apparently GTS-trading away random stuff I got over WT for legendaries has become my new hobby. I put up a Haunter and someone gave me a shiny Silvally! ^o__o^ Thanks, random guy~!

I think my first attempt will be a shiny Pikipek, just for shits n giggles. I mean, it's a Pikipek, so if I screw up by murdering the caller on accident or something, I'm not that invested in it (this will be my first attempt at any sort of chaining for shinies in any game).

1/12/17
Finally went to Malie Garden to rescue the Prof. Lillie was standing in the middle of the road & she actually says to me "It's been awhile since I've seen you around!" ha
Traipsed around in the garden & met up with the Prof & Hau. Walked back out to see Lillie & ran into Cousin Oak. Hapu came up with her Mudsdale & scared Lillie. Spent some time in the library & met Acerola.
After leaving the library, checked out all the shops/restaurants. Found a red halter top with black inset which really favors Haruka's tank top in ORAS so bought that & changed. Also got the yellow sporty sneakers for her.
Traipsed down Rte 10 & found all the Stuffuls that got away from that lady. Explored the Outer Cape & battled the plant manager & his son Chase. If Chase gave up on the island trials then how the heck can he be an Ace Trainer?
Ran into Team Numskull trying to steal the *actual* bus stop sign (idiots) and Achuri beat the crap out of both of them. He knows Brick Break. Too bad for that Raticate.
Went up to Mt Hokulani. Here's where I took some time to try & catch a Beldum. The most frustrating non-SOS battles I've engaged in yet. Could not catch one because they absolutely refuse to stay in the Pokeballs. Paralyzed them. Put them to sleep. Confused them. Paralyzed and confused them. Threw luxury, ultra & timer balls at them. Threw my only level ball that I got from Cousin Oak at them. Nope. Won't stay in the ball. Screw you, Beldum that live in Alola. The only good thing that came of all this was that Areana evolved into Tsareena.
So along the way, I battled all the trainers and then fought the veteran route trainer. My darling Parmin evolved into Primarina during the battle.
Headed up to the top to take on Sophocles & the trial. I like Molayne. A nice guy & had a good sense of humor. His pokes were no pushover either, but the battle wasn't too hard to win. So Sophocles' trial wasn't too hard, although Amallon did faint twice, poor thing.
So went back to Malie Garden & ran into a confrontation with the Prof & Guzma. Thought I might actually get to be in a double battle with him against Guzma & one of the grunts. Nope. The Prof pushed me into the battle because I'm an 11 yr old child, and he's just an adult. Took Guzma down w/o too much trouble. Achuri beat down his Golisopod with little problem.
So after that was over I left & went back in again to face the Nugget Bridge. Sheesh, that wasn't very challenging at all. And the veteran at the end yammering on about Team Rocket. Pffffftttt. Oh... so he was actually joking.....okay, then. After beating them, they all ran away post haste. Go train some more you bunch of losers! ha
So traipsed around Rte's 11 and 12 and ran into Hapu again. She kindly offered her Mudsdale to me as a Ride Pokémon. *gets on horsie* Battled all the trainers and the Rte 12 Kahuna with not too much trouble. Made it down to the Secluded Shore and decided I was tired enough to quit so I went back to the Malie City PokeCenter for the night.

Forgot to mention in previous post that Ocanato evolved into Toucannon, finally.
Pokes that evolved during this go-around: Fire stone for Arcana so he's an Arcanine now. Thunder stone for Achuri so he's an Alolan Raichu now. Evolved both at level 30.
Captured & boxed: Skarmory, Fearow, Trubbish, Pancham, Pangoro in SOS battle (surprised the heck out of me, and did nothing to lessen my hatred of SOS battles), Komala, Torkoal, Alolan Geodude & Ditto. Miniors: blue, purple, orange, yellow.

1/13/17
Went back to the Secluded Shore and fished to find a Bruxish. Got one on the second try. Stinkin' thing knows dark moves and fainted poor Achuri right out of the gate. Did manage to catch it though.
The Power Plant was interesting. Took the time to read all the information about geothermal energy.
Traipsed through Rte 13. Feel really horrible for that little abandoned Stuffel. Talked to it multiple time cause I didn't know if I would trip an event scene where I could maybe catch it and have it not be abandoned anymore. But, nope. Punk dude in the trailer that won't fight me was funny. Ran into Gladion. He's telling me & Hau to take care of Cosmog & protect it from Team Numskull. Hmmm......
Headed into Tapu Village & Rte 14. Talked to the construction workers. They won't let me through of course. There's work to be done yet for the Pokémon League. Went down to the black sand beach and poked around and did some Lapras paddling. Headed back up to Rte. 15.
Went to the Aether House. Got attacked post haste when I entered the door. The one kid's Yungoos is still chewing on Hau's ankle after the battle. ha. Met Acerola again and lo and behold she informs me she's the Trial Captain I have to face next.
Went outside to see that Lillie was being attacked by a Numskull grunt. Got rid of him without any trouble. Acerola comes out and says she wants me to follow her to the trial site.
I go into the Thrifty Megamart and take pictures of the Ghost Pokies. Didn't have any trouble battling the three ghost pokies there. Followed Mimikyu to the back where it opens a door and promptly yells at me "Seeeeee!! Meeeee!!" Okay, that was creepy. Dang thing took out half my team with Play Rough. I had even taught Ocanato Steel Wing so it could take Mimikyu down with Corkscrew Crash, but the stinkin' thing fainted Ocanato so wasn't able to do that. When it got down to the wire I had to throw Tonishia out and she finally took down Mimikyu with, of all things, her Bloom Doom Z-move.
Went back to the Thrify Mart afterwards and caught some of the ghost pokies. Then headed back to the Aether House.
Plumeria was standing outside with two of the grunts. She wants to battle me. So okay, let's duel go. She got mouthy with me afterwards and told me to come to Po Town if I wanted to get that kid's Yungoos back. Says I can't even bring Hau with me, I have to come alone. How convenient.
Am choosing to ignore this progression of the story for the time being. Went back to the Rte 15 beach and had a nice talk with Grimsley. He gave me a ride pager for Sharpedo Jet. I'll be out smashing the crap out of water logged rocks if anyone needs me..... ha
Beat the rest of the trainers on Rte 15, then went back to the trial guide lady and fought her too. Went back to the Captain's Barricade then, and decided to pop into the Haina Desert for just a short visit. Will go back and cover the whole desert later. Went back home to see mom.

Caught & boxed: Bruxish, Togedamaru, Turtonator, Elekid, Charjabug, Snorunt, Alolan Vulpix, Absol, Golbat, Mimikyu, Klefki (why the heck is a steel/fairy poke hangin' out in a ghost house?), Haunter, Dugtrio, Sandile.

Okay, time to climb the rest of Mount Lanakila. First up is...

Hau and his party of four.

My first out is just a trainee, so Nebby Leo has to take a hit so it can Snarl the Raichu down to size, and Decidueye finishes it off.

Next up is Hau's own Decidueye. But mine is faster (despite being lower level), and is able to endure a Spirit Shackle and two-shot his. Though he IS kind of stuck to the ground now, and Komala takes him out (stupid me forgetting Komala is part-Normal). Incineroar has a definite advantage on attacks, but does have to endure an Earthquake to the face to take Komala down.

Finally, the rematch against his tanky Vaporeon -- and I did promise to bring a Jolteon specifically for this. Sure, he has to eat a Hydro Pump to the face, but a few Charge Beams takes down the rival Eeveelution for a win.

Then, after some level grinding, I think I'm ready for the finale. Team:
- Yellow Oricorio
- Primarina
- Decidueye
- Jolteon
- Solgaleo
- Incineroar

Elite Four Go!
First up is Hala, leading with Hariyama. Oricorio tanks as many Close Combats as she can, but goes down, so Decidueye avenges her by cleaning up the weakened fighter.
Next, Crabominable. Primarina's turn, but that Ice Hammer hits SERIOUSLY hard. Moonblast put a good dent in it, but ... risky as it is, Incineroar is able to mop up the crab.
Third, Primeape. We'll risk having Incineroar stay in, and -- YES! Her Chople Berry made that Cross Chop survivable, and in return, Acrobatics hits for double power and a one-shot KO.
Fourth, Bewear, and this one packs a Brutal Swing so Decidueye only gets two hits in (and not good ones, due to Fluffy). Jolteon's Gigavolt Havoc put a mean dent in it also, but not enough for the KO, and Incineroar has to finish it off.
Last, Poliwrath. Incineroar's taking one for the team here so I can revive Decidueye, but she unexpectedly endures the hit and is able to dent that frog before going down. Still, if Incineroar can outspeed it so can Decidueye, and this battle is now in the bag.

Second round is Olivia. I still don't have any real resistance to Rock moves, but we start with Primarina versus ... Relicanth? Whoops, should have led with Decidueye. Nonetheless, Scald does about 60% and gets the burn, prompting Olivia to Full Restore it, allowing Decidueye to come in clean and Leaf Blade it off the field.
Midnight Lycanroc is next. It outspeeds Decidueye but Decidueye at least gets off one good hit before going down. But NOBODY outspeeds my Jolteon here. Nobody.
Third, Probopass. I call in Primarina while he sets up a Sandstorm, but I wear him down despite us both getting paralyzed in the process.
Fourth, Alolan Golem. Jolteon gets in on a Volt Absorb, but can't do much damage here and goes down. Incineroar, surprisingly, mops it up with Bulldoze. What, did it not have any Rock moves?
Last is a ... Carbink? What? Anyway, Incineroar has to tank a few hits so I can get Primarina healed up and sent in. Scald gets around that Reflect and we win.

Third -- whoa, Acerola? Yeah, I was expecting Nanu, too. Sableye is her first out, and it's faster than Incineroar. No matter. It's slow going, but we can tank the hits, Bulldoze its speed down a little, and Bite for the win.
Second is ... Palossand. Decidueye? Leaf Blade hits and crits, but not for the KO, and that leaves us wide open to dat Ghost Z-move. Oricorio can't finish it off, either, so back to Incineroar we go....
Third, a Dhelmise? No better time for a Flare Blitz but it DOES NOT GET THE KO EITHER and Incineroar goes down, and Jolteon has to mop it up.
Fourth is ... Froslass? Charge Beam plus Shadow Ball takes care of it.
Final is ... a Drifblim? (Seriously, no Mimikyu?) Two Charge Beams and it's over.

The last Elite Four member ... I do not know. A green feather imples Flying, right?

RIGHT. A Skarmory is up first, but my Oricorio is (ahem) jumping at the chance to take you on. And is Slash the best you can do to her? Well, Oricorio can only do about 90%, but that buys a round of healing for both sides before I fry that bird.
Second is a red Oricorio? Teeter Dances for everybody! Confusion damage for everybody! (yes, it happened, and two turns in a row.) And one Revelation Dance for YOU. That was fun, let's have another dance sometime.
Third is a ... Crobat, who only goes to prove what makes Oricorio such an MVP on my team.
Fourth is a Mandibuzz, but we tank that Brave Bird easily and you really SHOULD NOT have tried to Flatter a specialist. You should have just gone for some STAB Dark hits, because I just went for more of my Revelation Dance.
Last is Toucannon, who somehow outspeeds my Oricorio but otherwise its only contribution is a Screech before Oricorio zaps it off the field.

Yup, this one was ALL Oricorio. And even if it wasn't, Jolteon would've happily cleaned up as well.

Now, I think I know what will happen next....

I KNEW IT!

First up, it's a Midday Lycanroc, with Stealth Rock, Stone Edge and Accelerock. I have no good matchups here. AT ALL. Primarina goes down, Jolteon paralyzes but also goes down ... but at least that bought Decidueye the ability to clean it up with Leaf Blade.

Second is a ... Braviary! Decidueye swaps out for Oricorio, again an MVP in the Flying department.

Third: Alolan Ninetales! It's too bad I can't remove the Stealth Rock from my side. Ninetales is faster but Incineroar crits with a Flare Blitz.

Fourth: Snorlax? Um. Well ... we managed to keep flinching it with Bite and finish it off.

Fifth -- a Primarina? Wow. Okay. Decidueye takes one for the team, and Oricorio can't outspeed it to land even one hit. Solgaleo! He has to wait a few hits while I revive allies, however, but after that Primarina goes down with a few Sunsteel Strikes.

Last, a Magnezone. Flash Cannon and Thunderbolt is a difficult combo for my team to defend against, but ... in the end, it's a good thing I kept one physical move on my Jolteon.

Yeah, didn't get to furthering the plot until today due to the Holiday. But luckily I managed to get a lot done.

Faced off against the Nugget Bridge Brigade just because they were weak enough for Moon Jester (Popplio) to get some easy experience.

I then went to face Nanu. Moon Mudwall (Mudsdale) handled Sableye just fine. His defense had been maxed out in the first battle so luckily he was just able to take one hit from Krokorok to do some major damage. I sent out Moon Leader (Passimian) who got confused by Swagger, but took out Krokorok with a Brick Break. Sent out Moon Ruffian (Lycanroc) to battle Persian. After getting flinched by Fake Out, I tried to stop it with Continental Crush, but was defeated by Black Hole Eclipse. I sent out Moon Igloo to use Corkscrew Crash which he was able to pull off, but he got hit with a Dark Pulse that took off over half of his health. The second Dark Pulse took him out. The only one who stood a chance was Leader, so I sent him out again and he was able to take Persian out (but not without some healing items involved).

We headed to Aether Paradise and I gave Ruffian Darkinium-Z for his Bite,(later Crunch) and because he looks evil. I also turned on the EXP. Share since we are massively under leveled. Lastly, I fully maxed out Jester's Affection in Refresh so he could survive these future battles. We went through Aether Paradise, defeating Faba the scientists and everyone else. Also, I swear in one of these battles, literally everyone on my team leveled up at once thanks to the EXP. Share.

We got outside where there were about an ukku billion Team Skull thugs. Fortunately, I only had to fight 2 :) And then came Guzma. I sent out Moon Igloo (Sandslash) first as a sacrifice since he was the highest leveled and I couldn't remember who Guzma sent out first. I manged to poison Golisopod with Poision Jab and fight it to the point the Emergency Exit activated. Then Pinsir came out and beat Igloo with a single Brick Break. I sent out Mudwall who did little damage with Highhorse Power but took a lot from X-Scissor. Then Guzma withdrew Pinsir and sent Golisopod back out, who defeated Mudwall with Razor Shell. I sent out Moon Pancake (Raichu) to finish of Golisopod and then sent out Leader. He just barely managed to take out Pinsir. Then came Masquerain, who OHKO'd Pancake with Bug Buzz. I had to revive Ruffian to take out Masquerain which I managed to do at the expense of the last healthy members of my team. He survived Bug Buzz which did a lot more than I expected (I swore rock-types were resistant to bug moves) and beat the thing with one Rock Slide. Then only Ariados was left. My final mon vs. his. I didn't want to risk him fainting by trying to revive someone and then the spider getting a Fell Stinger boost or something, so I just fully healed him. Fortunately, Fell Stinger didn't do much. I went for Rock Slide hoping for a crit kill, which I didn't get, but Ariados did flinch. Super paranoid and not wanting a second Rock Slide to miss, I finished him off with Black Hole Eclipse. Once again, Ruffian saves us as the last mon standing against Guzma.

I stopped playing after that vigorous battle, so Lusamine will have to wait. I probably won't be able to update for a while, but hopefully when I do get another chance to play, I'll be able to make a lot of progress.

So by this point I've played through the main story and defeated the League (only once), completed the Ultra Beast quest afterwards (caught Necrozma too), got all the TMs, some other useful Pokemon/items according to some guides and made some progress in the Alolan Pokedex. I also got into breeding (for natures/IVs) while helping out with #12DaysOfBulbaTrade. Now I'm out to get all the Zygarde Cells I've missed; got all 5 Zygarde Cores today and overall I have 73/100 at this point and will keep going on later today/tomorrow.

As for my "team": There is Decidueye (Leaf Blade/Spirit Shackle/Brave Bird/False Swipe, holding Decidium Z), evolved from my starter, which serves more as a catcher than my main battler at this point thanks to False Swipe. My main Pokemon for battling is Greninja (Water Shuriken/Aerial Ace/Extrasensory/Dark Pulse, Battle Bond, Waterium or Darkinium Z). I also use Pheromosa a bit (traded one of my Buzzwole to a friend, prefer it more than Buzzwole) and Necrozma or Solgaleo (nicknamed Nebby) for a Psychic-type. I did use Wishiwashi, Alolan Dugtrio and Toucannon a lot until the League.

1/14/17 - 1/18/17
Decided I would spend a few days level grinding my team up before I go tackle the Po Town gauntlet.
Got my main team leveled up to 42. Then I worked on my 2nd string team that I rotate in from time to time as alternates if needed. Got them all leveled up to 40.
In between this I got Festival Plaza ranked up to 23.
I had also previously caught a Cubone for the Dex, but then when I found out he can learn False Swipe, I added him to my 2nd string team. Got him evolved to an Alolan Marowak now. Named him Arkam.
During this time Amallon also evolved and he's a Talonflame now.
I used up all the Rare Candies I've amassed at this point and evolved some of the Pokes in my boxes to fill the Dex out some more. I've also been shoving them in Poke Pelago on Isle Evelup and evolving them when they get to the right level.
Went back to Mt Hokulani and actually managed to finally catch a Beldum in an Ultra Ball. Also caught a pink Minior. I think I only need the green one yet. I'll have to check on that later.
I've also been scanning QR codes and doing the Island Scans. I'm focusing on getting all the ones from Melemele Island right now.
So today, I'll finally start progressing again and head out to Po Town to rescue that kid's Yungoos.

Reached 99/100 Zygarde Cells. Can't find that last one anywhere so I stopped worrying too much for now, perhaps someday I'll randomly find it :)
Focused on catching almost all the Pokemon needed for Pokedex completion; the only ones I haven't got yet (mostly because I'm bored to go after them) are:

Castform, Emolga, Vanillite/Vanillish, Alomomola, Chinchou, Shieldon/Bastiodon (other version's exclusive)

Even caught all 4 Tapu; now I'm focusing on evolving some Pokemon to get more Pokedex registrations, leaving the breeding for later. Meanwhile I'll have to check the GTS in hopes of getting the above a bit more easily as well as getting Pokemon that evolve with stones I can't get more than one of (although I guess I should get into Poke Pelago for that sometime...)

Also defeated the rematch League and found a way to easily defeat it with only 2 Pokemon (Necrozma/Greninja); every non-Battle Tree battle in the game is super-easy at this point, so I'm focusing on Pokedex completion for now and may start breeding for competitive Pokemon later.

Pokedex Progress:

Alola - 77%
Melemele - 77%
Akala - 80%
Ula'ula - 76%
Poni - 79%

First time posting here. I just reached the point in Sun where I have to catch Solgaleo. I think I'll ask my friend to trade me an Adamant Abra with Synchronize, because I'm having no luck soft resetting or finding Adamant Abra in Hau'oli City.

My team will probably end up looking like this:
my%20sun%20team_zpsy4n8huwc.png
my%20sun%20team_zpsy4n8huwc.png

Nom-nom the (Event) Snorlax - I've used Snorlax before on playthroughs but I couldn't resist using it again. I'm having a total blast with Happy Hour + Amulet Coin.
Mustardseed the Ribombee - Cutest thing ever.
Sugar the Oricorio - Right now she's a Pom-Pom style Oricorio, which will change when I get the Purple Nectar. Pom-Pom has the better typing but I'm too fond of the Sensu design to pass up on using it.
??? the Lycanroc - I still need to catch one. Right now that slot is filled by a Lillipup with Pickup. It's really annoying having to cancel the evolution every time it levels up (so that it doesn't lose its ability). It's too bad that there aren't any fully evolved pokes with Pickup available in-game.
Splishy the Wishiwashi - Adorable, and hits like a powerhouse. I'm glad I taught it Scald early on.
Bouncee the Tsareena (the in-game trade Bounsweet) - I ended up boxing Decidueye for her.

Kept working on completing the Pokedex, mostly evolving Pokemon. Also got Emolga and Mismagius from the GTS.
Decided to give the Battle Tree a test run with non-competitively optimized Pokemon (Decidueye, Greninja, Celesteela); only got 4 wins.

Pokedex Progress:

Alola - 83%
Melemele - 87%
Akala - 84%
Ula'ula - 80%
Poni - 84%

Flew back to Tapu Village and made my way to Rte 16. Ran into Sina & Dexio and they 'splained the Assembly Unit to me. Unfortunately I only had 47 cells/cores at the moment.
Went to Ula'Ula Meadow and fought all the trainers and beat the Rte trainer. Tried to catch Red Oricorio twice but the damn thing kept using Roost, so screw that, I'll come back later some time & try again. Took a side trip to the shrine at the Lake of the Moone. Pretty interesting place.
Headed up Rte 17 & beat all the grunts. Nanu comes after me and asks if I really want to go in there to Po Town. Upon saying yes, he tells me that if I don't make it, he'll make sure my remains get sent back to my family. wth??
Okay, so the Pokémon Center..... I've never seen a trashed PokeCenter before & I hope to never see one again. That's just wrong....yo.... Although I have to say that the rhyming grunts in there that healed my Pokes were pretty funny....yo....
The sidewalk chalk was a nice touch. ha
Battled my way up to Shady House w/o too much trouble. Battled still more grunts inside of Shady House. Made it to Guzma's bedroom. Cripes, he's threatening me with actual bodily harm. Jerk. Once again that stinkin' Golispod uses First Impression & faints poor Achuri. I throw out Ocanato & he uses Beak Blast & takes that thing down. I threw Arcana out against Ariados & he took it down with little problem. Yeah, I sat down in the chair afterwards. That was pretty damn funny. And no I'm not the boss of you, you idiot.
Spoke to Nanu afterwards and Acerola comes running up to snag the Yungoos I rescued. that Nanu is really a strange fella.
Skipped over Aether House temporarily and went to the Haina Desert. Caught a Gabite in an accidental SOS battle. Even with the Strategy Guide, Haina Desert is a freaking nightmare, cripes. Did snag a Trapinch, though.
Went to Aether House & got involved in the 'Lillie was kidnapped' cutscene. Gladion comes in and freaks out and challenges me to a battle. Afterwards, I follow him to the ferry terminal.
Lo & behold, Nanu comes walking up & announces he's the Kahuna. Geez, what a dour guy you are Nanu. He was a cakewalk to beat compared to Olivia, & even Hala. I knocked him down with hardly any trouble at all.
Then Hau comes running up finally & we all head to Aether Paradise. I promptly left them there & went back to finish with the other events listed in my book. Especially the plate gathering back on Melemele Island.
I am not going to get into the whole sequence of events at Aether Paradise & the mansion. Most folks already know what happens & those of you who are not there yet....suffice it to say that Lusamine is a freaking psycho. Cripes.
Anyway, unlike my Totem Battle with Mimikyu, I was able to use Ocanato and his Corkscrew Crash Z-move to take down Lusamine's Clefable in one glorious hit. The rest of her team was not too hard to take out after I fainted that Clefable.
So I ended up on Poni Island. Wandered around and talked to everyone in Seafolk Village. There's a woman in a shop there that just forked over an Aerodactyl to me. Like, what.... you just have a supply of Aerodactyls or something and you hand them out to Island Challengers who happen to wander into your shop? Okay, then....
Healed my pokes at the PokeCenter to register it & then left Lillie stranded as I headed back to mom for the night.

At this point I only miss some "trade with item" evolutions and Lunala to complete the Pokedex, and I plan tradebacking them soon to get done with it.

So I started trying to get some BP seriously. I tried Royal Avenue because I've heard it is easier but it was actually annoying for me, although luck might've been against me there. I also tried Battle Tree Multi as I still don't have seriously EV trained Pokemon (although I have good IV ones), again it was hard. Battle Tree Single fits me the most; while getting perfect Gible/Mimikyu babies to EV train at Poke Pelago, I tried the following teams:

Greninja/Decidueye/Celesteela - first try, didn't go too well; I realized that Decidueye probably wasn't the best idea so I switched it to:
Tapu Koko/Greninja/Celesteela - this one worked better, Tapu Koko as the lead with both U-Turn and Volt Switch. Got 15 wins with this and thought I should get to EV train Tapu Koko/Celesteela (Greninja will take a longer while to deal with because I used it a lot in-game so its EVs are maxxed but random)
Greninja/Decidueye/Kartana - I brought back Decidueye with some reluctance, mostly as a test run while I'm waiting for Tapu Koko and Celesteela to get some EVs. I also put Kartana in, which meant I had 2 Grass-types... yet this team actually did pretty good (with some luck). Decidueye was dead weight for most battles but the other two could handle most with little problem. I hit a streak of 20, defeated Red, got the Kanto starter Mega Stones and unlocked Super Single Battles which give out 2 BP per match straight away. My first and only attempt at it so far stopped at 5 due to some bad luck, although I was bored to try continuing there. In any case it's quite easy to farm BP now, I already have excess and am not sure on how to spend it.

Okay, time to head to Poni Island for reals! First up, Poni Wilds. Nary a Wimpod to be found. So battled all the trainers and the Rt trainer who had all 4 Oricorio types I had to battle. How annoying, sheesh.
Headed to the Ancient Poni Path. Not much to see here. Found Hapu & her Gramma. Was told we needed to go to the Ruins of Abundance. Got the Ride Pager for Machamp. Snagged all the items and made for the Poni Breaker Coast. Once again, no Wimpod at all. Not even one to scare in the first place. Where the heck are they at? Maybe Hapu & Mudsdale scared it already.
So Hapu got chosen to be the Poni Isle Kahuna. That's nice. I'm happy for her. We discussed the lore surrounding the legendary Pokémon & then Hapu & Lillie both promptly abandoned me & left me in the ruins by myself. Welp. Turnabout's fair play, I suppose.
Headed back to Seafolk Island to see the Captain & set sail for Exeggutor Isle. Upon setting foot on the island we were post haste attacked by an Alolan Exeggutor. How rude. So I battled & caught it. So Lillie & I ran up top after the rain ended & took the Sun Flute.
....sheesh....just one string of cutscenes after another again....
Decided I wanted to bring my Alolan Vulpix I caught into the mix. So I named her Elsanine (yes, after you-know-who).
Went back to enter Poni Canyon. Had to battle a whole mess of Numskull grunts to gain access. Plumeria comes up & talks to us & is all apologetic-like. She gives me the poison Z-Crystal. I head into Poni Canyon & meet Hapu & Lillie by the tree. Hapu informs me that to continue I have to battle her right then & there in the Grand Trial. I actually beat her team down with not much effort. I tossed Parmin out against her Mudsdale. Fortunately, Parmin is faster than her Mudsdale. He used the Force, in conjunction with his Z-move, to summon a massive globe of water & dumped it on Mudsdale. Fainted it in one hit.
Wandered around a bit, & collected some items, & battled some trainers, but then decided to call it a day & headed back to Malie Garden for the evening.
Caught & boxed: Granbull; Gastrodon; Wailmer; Wailord; Lumineon; Exeggcute; Exeggutor; Lapras; Relicanth; Sharpedo.

Put in some more work leveling up some Pokes for the Dex. Had put some Pokes in Isle Avue & then battled with them to do the "high friendship" thing. Bred & hatched the 3 babies I needed -- Shellos, Snubbull, & Carvanha. Went back & hunted for the nighttime-only Zygarde cells & the daytime-only ones as well. Finally caught the Wimpods at Rte 8 & Poni Wilds!! So happy. Got one girl & one boy. So that was nice.
Caught a Dhelmise at the only fishing spot in Seafolk Village. Rummaged around some more in the grass in the early part of Poni Canyon. Snagged 2 Jangmo-o's; one girl & one boy. Such good luck! Found a couple of midnight form Lycanrocs & caught them.
During all this time, I was working on getting Elsanine up to speed. Got her leveled up to 40 & Ice Stoned her. Alolan Ninetales is just beautiful. At this moment, she's level 47 & working her way up.
Onwards to finish Poni Canyon!

Finally completed the Pokedex!
Upon being done with it I finally went back to Wonder Trade and got some nice breejects.
Also continued at Battle Tree with that team and got some wins, keep farming for BP while waiting for the others to get EV trained.
Other than that I also did the daily stuff of course and participated in some random missions that came up while WTing in the Plaza.

I beat the game last weekend! Finally got my (Midday Form) Lycanroc too. I didn't have a lot of time to play this week, so I didn't get around to doing any post-game stuff besides reaching the Battle Tree and rebattling the Elite Four a couple of times. I'm totally broke now – I blew all my money on clothing and accessories, buying literally everything except the Gracidea items and the Team Skull tank (which I'll get to soon).

Most of the Pokemon I was EV training in Pelago are ready but I haven't got to leveling them up to 50 yet, should do so soon.
Did some of the daily things I should and put some other Pokemon to EV train in Pelago for now.

I just got to the 4th island last time I was playing. I'm pretty sure I'm on the path to catching Solgaleo, as I'm currently in the Ultra Wormhole world. Had to save right when I arrived though because my 3DS' battery was low. :(

Well I finished up traipsing through Vast Poni Canyon w/ not too much trouble. Lillie made it across the bridge on her own. I thought there for a moment she was going to freak out about the Murkrow, but she pushed on through. In spite of the sarcasm I toss out every now and then at her; and abandoning her & leaving her hanging at various places while I backtrack or level grind, I do really like Lillie. She's a pretty cool friend. I feel like she's one of the better developed characters in the games' history. She's grown a lot and gotten more confident about things. Gosh darn it, I'm proud of her!
Speaking of friends, where's my other relentlessly cheery friend, Hau? Haven't seen him in quite some time.
Eh....
Fought the dragons at the last Totem Trial. Put Tonishia out against it hoping that her grass side would protect her long enough from Kommo-o's Flash Cannon to get off a few Moonblasts from her Fairy side. Worked, thank Arceus. I had her use her Twinkle Tackle Z-move first which took out a big chunk of its HP. 2 more Moonblasts later & it went down. I sent out Ocanato then to face the Scizor it had called for an ally. He took it down with Beak Blast with little trouble.
Stopped at this point after snagging the Dragon Z Crystal because my game flips over to night at 6pm which is not only extremely annoying but also inconvenient. For me, anyway. I want to head to the Alter of the Sunne and warp into Ultra Space during the daytime hours, dangit, because I'm playing the Sun version.
So anyway, just for yuks & giggles, I finally made up my mind I was going to whittle away some time by heading to Ten Carat Hill and engaging myself in an SOS battle to see if I could catch a Sableye. I threw out an Adrenaline Orb against Carbink, and to my surprise I snagged one on the third ally call.
So then I thought, what the heck, let me go back to the Thrifty Mart & see if I can scare up a Gengar. Ha! What an aggravating waste of time. Haunter sure doesn't have a lot of PP attached to its movepool. Battled for a long time with 2 of them, both of which ended up running out of moves & using Struggle; & fainting themselves. Gengar didn't plop down at all. So phooey on that.
So that was pretty much the end for this day.
