^ Has both failed at using the right hiragana for "女の子" and realizing that "女の子" begins with an "o" sound, so ^ should have used "an" instead of "a".

I think you have hiragana and katakana mixed up. Katakana consists of straight or curved strokes, the kana in your post is devoid of those kinds of strokes. I know what the difference between the two are. And I also know that the correct hiragana for "女の子" is "おんなのこ", not "おんあ の こ".
