^ isn't next up to bat, at least not in the world of soccer.
That's not only, for example, making (not "letting become," but making) the past tense of "to be" into "beed," but making the present tense "I/you/we/they be, he/she/it bes." *shudders*
Sadly I think I've heard those terms used. I may have said 'he bes' out of jest ^^;;

I've heard people leave out the verb altogether. ;_;
