I wish I played it. ='[ I don't even watch the anime (a/n is it even an anime? Sorry I'm completely hopeless. I just hear Final Fantasy in general is good.)

Short and sweet answer: there are games of it and there are anime/animated adaptations of it. But Final Fantasy is more renown for its many games which Square-Enix has put together for over two decades now.

Final Fantasy is pretty large, and by definition, a franchise or a series of games and therefore is not limited to just any one title. Games of the series are denoted by roman numerals and are independent (no plot connections) of other titles in the series unless stated as a direct sequel or spinoff.

If you really wanted to get into Final Fantasy, just pick one and go with it I say. Many people hopped aboard the FF bandwagon when FFVII came out on the original Playstation. Some fans credit that particular Final Fantasy as best in the series, but that's mostly a matter of personal opinion since there's a good chance that those who played FFVII initially at the time haven't actually tried the rest of the Final Fantasy series.

I can't say I've played every Final Fantasy title either, but I do enjoy playing the ones I come across (really just the US releases) which have included 3, 7, 10, 12 and the spinoffs Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and 12: Revenant Wings.

The guy in my sig, Baltheir, is one of the characters of FFXII. His stock image came from a cameo of his in FFTactics: War of the Lions.

Also to note, Final Fantasy games are notorious for being very, very long. I sunk over 100 hours into FFXII, which included going after sidequests (some of which I gave up on merely because they were so time consuming).

So that's my basic intro to Final Fantasy and that's really basic. There's a great deal of history behind these games, movies, the company (which was originally two separate entities) and the influence the games have had globally. It's really a lot. So like I said, you don't have to embrace every facet of Final Fantasy. Just pick a place most accessible to you, and jump in and have a blast! ^^
