So, anyone can explain to me why specialshipping is so popular? I find LuckyShipping better, since Red and Green has the same age, and, at least, they appear to like each other in the manga. SpecialShipping does not seems to have a really bright future, since is a relationship with only Yellow expressing interest in this happening.

Oh, and before anything more is said, BACK FROM ASHES! (Or I would say, reborn from the ashes)

I'm no expert on the manga but my understanding is that ChoosenShipping given their history or the popularity of OldRivalShipping mean that most pair green with someone else.As such it sort of leaves yellow as a decent fit for red.Also they did have pikachu which bred with each other so perhaps that has something to do with it's popularity.I'm guessing though.

Hmmm, interesting. So, what you are saying is that because the people wanted to put Green with someone else (like in choosen or oldrivalshipping) Yellow may have ended with Red. But in fact, we do not see in the manga that Red is interested in Yellow. That's why I think LuckyShipping It's more like to happen. At least is what I think. =/

well a fan would argue that red may later develop feelings as yellows gets older or red is just hiding them.(possibly because yellow is younger) or that feeling wll devlop.As for whats more likely to happen thats based on personal view especially given that the magna can be surprirsing they could pull a trick and both green and yellow get passed over and someone unexpected it where it goes.I'm not saying either will or will not but just remember wirters love to throw a few surprises.

SpecialShipping is popular, I think, because people see that it's popular and attach themselves to it. This is my case and theory. (I've since migrated to LuckyShipping)

I also think that SpecialShipping may be declining in popularity. For Red ships, I see LuckyShipping as much as SpecialShipping. Red's love triangle, as I see it, is Yellow and Blue/Green(girl). I'm curious to see if Kusaka makes either of them canon.

I think the popularity of SpecialShipping comes from the fact that it is ship that has had more hints of romantic feeling and people naturally gravitate towards ships that are more canonical. LuckyShipping, OldRivalShipping and even OriginalShipping to some extent are all "romantic" only because that's how we as the readers have chosen to see the relationship, but another reader what comes across is that Red, Blue and Green simply have a deep bond and deeply care about each other as friends.

With SpecialShipping there is no really denying that Yellow has romantic feelings for Red. Of course, fans have to speculate even there because Red has never really expressed romantic feelings for anyone in particular, and most of the hints from his end don't really come from his character but from Kusuka's writing and the illustrator. The three images that comes to mind are the Caterpie string-shot, the moment Misty sees Red happily talking to Yellow in the phone (Red was about the only person who didn't know she was a girl at the point) and the image of the petrified dex-holders: Blue and Green flanking Red as he carries Yellow in his arms.

I'm not that fussy about the original dex holders shipping-wise and frankly don't mind but I think its perfectly understandable why so many people like SpecialShipping. Seeing as Pokespec is not a shojo manga, ships are mostly fan-preference... hence why none has ever really been set in stone. It's a good thing really.

As I see , All Adventure Protagonist is getting romantically involve with their female Counter-part accept Red & Green !
Its mainly due to Yellow .
However , I like Yellow with Blue !

Well She didn't found or Rescue Red , Giovanni Did !
And It was Green who sent her on that Journey in the first place and she was the only one in Red's friend circle who actually got close to finding Red.
Actually She would had found Red if She & Bill wasn't attacked .
If we are talking about ''Worth'' , Then the girl who deserve Red the Most is Misty !
She helped Red more then other 2 did .
Plus , Red shown more hint toward her then the Other 2 .
I mean , In GSE Saga Red saw Yellow as a Guy until the final chapter .
But since Misty might not appear at all so we can cut her out.
I think Red & Yellow relation is same as Green & Cris's relationship with Silver & Emerald.
Yellow , Silver & Emerald met Red, Green & Cris when they were vulnerable and start to look up to them after they changed their life .
As for Pika & Chuu , Red Pokemon breed with Emerald Pokemon as well.
Plus , Pikachu isn't Red's Main partner like Ash's Pikachu so it shouldn't matter that Pika & Chuu breed together.
As far as I see , Almost all Adventure Protagonist are getting romantically involve with their female counter-part.
Such as
-Gold & Cris's love & hate relationship
-Ruby & Sapphire already confessed.
-Dia has a crush on Platina
-Black & White obviously like each other .
So Red & Green are the more unconfirmed here .
But I support ''Luckyshipping'' Because I find it more Challenging then ''Special Shipping''.
This the same reason I supported Daikari (Digmon Adventure 02) despite Takari (Digimon Adventure 02) being a perfect couple.
It would be awesome if Green start to flirt with Red again to mess with Yellow & Misty (like old time) but later reveal she does has feeling for Red but she backing away because she doesn't find herself ''Worthy'' of Red compare to other girl after the thing she did with him in Past.
It will definably put a new twist in the manga .
Plus , Green might not deserve Red but Red obviously deserve Green more then other character because he always protected her even when she double crossed him.

I've always wondered why Specialshipping is so popular, because personally, I don't see why it's so "obvious" as people say. Because on panel, Red and Yellow really don't interact that much and in my opinion, hardly any of their interactions have been particularly "shippy". The only reason I can find that it's so popular is just that it's a cute pairing.

Well, the author wasn't EXACTLY trying to make FrontierShipping/TenthCatcherShipping (Crystal x Emerald) popular. Because he didn't add many hints.
But I still like the pairing.

Dunno if anyone else has mentioned it before, but that's Game!Red. Game!Red =/= Special!Red, and thus it isn't LuckyShipping nor a manga shipping. It's BurningLeafShipping.

I've always been weak for FranticShipping. The contrast between Ruby and Sapphire's characters actually gives them perfect chemistry and their interactions are always cute.

Other shippings I'm fond of are MangaPokeShipping and SpecialShipping, because Kasumi and Yellow's crushes on Red are cute. There's also LuckyShipping, which is leftover from me being an avid protagonist shipper and a supporter of BurningLeafShipping, which I'm sad isn't explicitly depicted in any canon. Not even in its own game, because picking Red erases Blue out of existence. lol

GrantedShipping (LancexYellow) I like SpecialShipping a lot too, but I tend to ship Red with Misty. I also like the idea of Lance someday apologizing to Yellow (after Red ends up with Misty, much to Yellow's disappointment, though she doesn't show it and tries to act happy for them) for what he did during the Yellow arc and asking her to show him how to use his powers to heal instead of to destroy, them training together and eventually falling in love.
ChosenShipping (SilverxGreen) Probably my favorite Pokemon Adventures shipping. I love their shared past and they look so cute together, too.
AccidentalShipping (GoldxWhitney) These two are just adorable together, and they have great chemistry with each other.
CrystalShipping (EusinexCrystal) They're so entertaining and have great chemistry (opposites attract!) and to use a TV Tropes term, there's a lot of Foe Yay between them (even moreso than with GrantedShipping). I also like the idea of Crystal deciding to leave her position as Oak's assistant (or do this as "research") and leave to go catch Suicune with Eusine.

I've only (fully) read the Gold, Silver and Crystal arc and the Yellow arc. I haven't read enough of the other arcs to really form opinions on what shippings I like (I've read a lot of the Black and White arc, but not in order and with a lot of gaps due to patchy scanlation).

Other manga pairings I'm fond of include FrontierShipping (EmeraldxCrystal), SpecialShipping (RedxYellow), EliteShipping (either LancexLorelei OR WillxKaren; I happen to like both pairings) and RocketMasakudoShipping (KeanexChermaine; I wish we got to see more of them).
