The Season of Alola has arrived in Pokémon GO with the Welcome to Alola event

Niantic has announced the Season of Alola in Pokémon GO, which will run from March 1st, at 10 a.m. to June 1st, at 10 a.m. local time. Pokémon originally discovered in the Alola region will be making their debuts in Pokémon GO this month alongside the Welcome to Alola event, which will be running from March 1st, at 10:00 a.m. to March 9th, at 8:00 p.m. local time.


Seasonal Bonuses, Research, and Updates
During the Season of Alola, the following bonuses will be active:
  • Increased Incense effectiveness while moving
  • Incense will last for 90 minutes
  • Increased damage for Pokémon participating in raids remotely
  • Guaranteed Gifts from PokéStop spins
  • Up to two free Raid Passes per day by spinning Gym Photo Discs
Throughout the Season, different Special Research lines representing each of the islands in Alola will be available:
  • Melemele Island - From March 1st
  • Akala Island - From March 22nd
  • Ula'ula Island - From April 12th
  • Poni Island - From May 10,th
These Special Research lines will be available to collect beginning at 10:00 a.m. local time on these specified dates, with all ending on June 1st at 9:59 a.m. local time. These research lines can be completed by trainers at anytime after they are received, however a bonus Special Research line will be unlocked starting from May 25th for players who complete the Special Research by June 1st. This bonus Special Research line can also be purchased in the shop for US$4.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in local currency).

Hawaiian-inspired Alolan styles for Trainers will also be added to Pokémon GO this season, with an avatar item inspired by Comfey to be available soon in the in-game shop.
