sweet I'd love to see UDDUP come back Tye. Its been a while and I've become a much better RPer so it'd be great to revisit that world.

Besides that I am here to say that my "Original concept" RP The Crossed. Will most likely be posting a SU thread if people can help me finish up the concepts. I have a thread on full details, but I'm saying this here for the lazy or busy people. Its a magic based RP with some ideas taken from my favorite Animes.

Speaking of Animes I may put together a Soul Eater RP as I've become addicted. Death the Kid, best character I've seen in a long time.

Hey guys. I really love PMD and i hate the True Strength RP on the list of RPGs of April '13, so can i mak an adults-only (15+, with sex and violence and language) appocolypse PMD? It's based on the original Rescue Team games, but it's in an alternitive universe where Rayquaza destroyed the Pokemon demenison, well only the world of talking Pokemon. Set 10 years after the event. Can i do it? If not, can it be 13+?

I made one where I mentioned extreme violence as a thing and nobody batted an eyelid.

Yeah honestly, I don't see why promoting violence would help you get more RPers, remember that an RP is decided by the quality of the RP itself, just cause you offer violence doesn't mean people are going to jump at it, a lot of people might actually turn away from excessive violence.

Random Thought: What if The Rogues Gallery was a thing again?

I just told you that I'd eat a popsicle on webcam for you if you made it again, bro. Do it. I don't even care that it would kill my new RP. Hell, I'd delete the thread if it would get RG back.

Oh but of course, but I just think there's something... enticing about turning the usually kid-friendly nature of the series right on it's head and going completely the other way. Some pokémon even look like they were made for it, imagine the damage a Scyther or a Zangoose could do if it got the chance to attack a human with those claws...

In other news, I'm thinking again about the same RP idea I mentioned above, since that was a very long time ago, making a pseudo-tabletop RP, using a battle sim (Pokémon Showdown/Pokémon Online/Netbattle if I could be bothered to start figuring it out) to decide the outcome of battles in the plot and change the plot accordingly. If there was interest in it, it's definitely something I'd need another GM in on, but I want to see if there's interest before I go writing up a plot (and battle rules that make things fair)

I'll do that then...

For the most part, the plot continues as any other RP would (although not a journey RP, I cannot get along with those for some reason). There are tougher limits to what pokémon players can have, but that's it outside of the battle mechanic.

However, when players get to major plot battles, the resolution of this will not be an automatic 'the players win', instead the GM(s) take the roles of NPCs and the general environ, whilst players use the team they've been building throughout the RP and they all log on to one of the battle simulators mentioned above (I personally recommend Showdown because it has a couple useful tools for this kind of thing, namely the savable replays that don't require the program and Hackmons for 'special' pokémon that would break the actual rules of the game)

Each player must keep track of their defeated pokémon, as if one of their allies falls, the battle continues with all mons that were remaining on each side. Due to the limitations of the programs, lasting damage will not be possible however, nor will use of in-battle item.

Once all members of the PC or NPC groups have been defeated, the group still standing wins, and the plot takes a new direction depending on the victor. This could be anything from a scuffle over Legendary pokémon (which could result in the PCs bagging them) to the great final battle on which everything rides.

Basically the idea is that RPs have no real tension to them half of the time - due to their format, the protagonists have literally no chance to lose since nobody wants to piss off their players. Part of the concept is to avert this by creating a real chance for the protagonists to fail.

I only have the very basics barebones of a plot at the moment, but it revolves around the idea that a villanous team actually succeeded (namely Plasma) and now they rule over the world, oppressing Trainers that may rise against them and never allowing Trainers to become powerful apart from their own specialist group (which serve as rivals to the PCs and are lovingly referred to as "the only competent Trainers Plasma has ever hired")

Oh, and my background is in competitive battling, so I'm sure I can pull off the balance side of this and cater to all abilities of Trainer.

So maybe I've been playing too much Pokemon Conquest and Pokemon White 2, but I have the beginnings of an idea for an RP. Imagine that, one day, after the PC had conquered Ransei in Pokemon Conquest, Ransei came into contact with the Unova of B2/W2, through an island chain between the two of them-i.e., the area around the Nature Preserve that Skyla can fly you to in B2/W2. Warriors and Trainers crossed the ocean, and both learned each other's ways. Warriors picked up factory-made Revives and used Poke Balls to be closer to Pokemon they wished to link with, while Trainers began working Warrior Skills into their array as well as beginning their adventures with Perfect-Link Pokemon as their starters. Human nature being as it is, however, two opposing factions rapidly formed. One side claimed to have not a drop of Ranseian blood in their veins, and used technology on their journeys. The other side claimed to be pure-blooded Ranseians, and refused any Unovan technology. Oddly enough, though, both sides stayed in the island chain, not wishing to let the other side have anything. The chain itself consists of five islands in a gently curving line, with the largest island in the middle and the others tapering off at both ends. The Warriors control the eastern pair of the islands, while the Trainers control the western pair. The central island is, by mutual agreement-if only because neither side can take it without the other side striking back at full force-a neutral zone. This is mostly because of a single, exceptionally tall mountain at the center of the island. There is ordinary area at the mountain's base, but the mountain itself is sheer, snow-capped, and its peak is very nearly unreachable, as the sides are too sheer for Rock Climb to be of any use, and any Pokemon that would be able to climb the mountain, such as Absol or Graveler, doesn't have the power to carry a person up there. The legend goes that whoever reaches the peak will bring both war and peace (and no, this whole RP would NOT lead up to a bad pun about the book War and Peace) to the land. It is interpreted to mean that whoever reaches the top will carry their side to victory in war, and bring an end to the constant skirmishing.

So, for the actual RPing instead of story. Everyone can choose a different origin for themselves. You could choose to be a Trainer who has decided to brave the mountain, a Warrior with the same goal, someone who doesn't follow the rules and uses both Warrior and Trainer techniques, a non-Pokemon-user...the only rule is that you have to be able to reasonably explain it. And why-you can't just say "my character does what he wants!" and call that good enough. You can go to the Bulbapedia list of Warrior Skills if you want, but using Warrior Skills in a Trainer faction is...frowned upon, to say the least, as are factory potions and Poke Balls in the Warrior faction. Feel free to add drama with a Trainer who secretly uses Warrior Skills, or a Warrior who sneaks Revives into his homemade Potions and hides it with his Pokemon being "at one HP," instead of KO'd. The plot revolves around getting to the top of the mountain and beating the other side. Even neutral parties are curious about what lies at the top.

Okay, it needs a little more detail in the way the RP works, but I think it sounds cool. What does everyone else think?

What, you wanted to hear how the plot is going to go? Too bad.

Holy MOLY. It has been forever since I visited bmgf. Last time I was here, Roleplaying was still in Fun and Games! Anyways, I was struck by ideas and the best place to throw around ideas about online roleplaying is bmgf, at least in my experience, so I am BACK. Hopefully for a while, X & Y are just around the corner and I like this place so much better than Serebii.

But anyways, ideas. That's what the sounding board is for, right?

1. D&D 4e play-by-post, anyone?
2. The new 'Collaborative Stories' caught my attention. As soon as I saw it I instantly thought of Ponemurdered, a succession style fanfic inspired by the succession style Dwarf Fortress LP Boatmurdered. The premise was: A group of no-talent hacks authors got together to write a story. The catch is, they didn't discuss any sort of overarching plot. The first author just wrote something and the next author started where the first left off. The second catch was that any given author could only read the chapter directly preceding theirs. The result was an epic tale of plot holes, drama, and more plot holes, and it was glorious. Anybody want to give the same thing a shot for Pokémon?

So the other day I remembered an idea I had for-friggin'-ever ago. I envisioned an RP where, when characters battle each other, the RPers actually battle in the games, with their characters' teams. Someone (I don't remember who) pointed out--quite correctly--that it would be far easier to do over Pokémon Showdown, because then you wouldn't need to catch the Pokémon in the event that it's super rare/unavailable. The problem is that in Pokémon Showdown you can have flawless, EV-trained, shiny, good-nature Pokémon muuuuuuch more easily than the games, which means that every character is improbably lucky/strong. I guess it probably balances out, but it's...unrealistic. So what I'm thinking about now is how to regulate things like that. Ideas please!

@-Glory Blaze-; I'm game! Unless that came and went already in which case...yeah.

I was reading a news story about how criminals are using drones with IR capability to find pot farms and then extort the growers.

I immediately thought "That sounds like something straight out of Shadowrun!"

I then noticed my Pokémon Black cartridge next to my Gates to Infinity cartridge. My next thought was "Hmm, a Shadowrun-themed PMD RP..."

Sounds great!

So I've been throwing around ideas in my head about a pokemon based rp. The plot would take place in a ghost town where there appears to be a sole residence in one of the old mansions of the town. Throughout the town are ghost-type pokemon which are either feral, friendly, or out to kill the players. Here's the twist I was thinking of putting in the rp: at random times for no reasons the players may experience flashbacks of the town's history. A glimpse of it's past if you will. These flashbacks may not be recognized so easily since said flashbacks will have the player where they are standing, only difference is they will see the town how it used to be and since it'll be a memory of sorts of the town's past, the players won't be able to interact with any past persons that may be wandering around that were in the town's history. I wonder if I'm making any sense here. xD

I'm thinking of making a cyberpunk Pokémon RP.

Basically it pits those who are pro-enhancement against those who are anti-enhancement.

I'm making a comeback here, and I'm bouncing around a couple ideas. One is a magic-themed RP in which a group of ordinary teenagers are dragged into a war that's been brought to Earth and given the means to fight for the fate of the planet.

The second one is a horror themed RP in which several students go to a haunted house on a dare, and have to uncover the many secrets the house holds while being pursued through the house by dark forces bent on killing them.

The last one is a medieval-themed RP in which a princess has been abducted, and a group of warriors are sent to retrieve her, but this quickly unfolds into a much greater conflict that could evolve into full-scale war.

Let me know what you guys think of these. Thanks.

I don't really feel like committing to GM'ing right now, but if someone else wants to Co-GM and reboot Stars in the Sky, I would be up for it.

This thing was always awesome, and it's about time that it was rebooted again.

I was thinking of a high-octane action adventure RP where Team Galactic and Team Rocket team up and lead a blitzkrieg that results in them capturing the Legendaries.

The players will play the part of escaped Legendaries who are searching for trainers to assist them in rescuing the other Legendaries, a trainer who allies with the Legendaries or for that matter, almost anything they wish (as long as it fits in the context of the Pokémon 'verse).

I've even got a title: Operation Legendary Liberation
