Coaches are pulled along the dusty road leading up to the Three Pyramids. In them contain a new set of students, destined to become musicians. The giant marble pyramids stand before them. Around them is desert, now baking hot. As the carriages pull to a halt, servants in liverie help the new students out. They are given white robes, with a black stripe across the rim. Academic Scholars have a light blue strip, Sports Scholars have a green strip and Music Scholars have a yellow strip.

Welcome to this RP! There are two hundred magicians in each year, roughly equally split between male and female.

All of the boys are sleeping in Dorm 32, all of the girls in Dorm 67.

Currently we are in the entrance hall, as outside it is too hot.

No-one has practiced channeling yet, so no magic yet.

IC: Gaius sat on one of the stone benches in the entrance hall. Outisde the sun was baking, and he wondered how he was going to manage the heat in this new country.

Rex looked around at the other students, and how they had all separated into big groups, seemingly already friends - and chuckled.

Gaius walked over to one of the boys who was standing by myself. He looked at him.

"Hi, I'm Gaius. What's your name?" He asked.

Ame observed the other people in the area while pretending to focuselon tossing a small stone up in the air and catching it repeatedly. Currnetly, she has a lazy-eyed and loosely focused expression.

"I'm Gaius," he repeated. The boy seemed quite shy. "It's quite hot here, isn't it?"

Adriana tugged at the light blue strip on her white robe. It seemed that she just couldn't get it to look the way she wanted. Sighing, she took a seat on one of the stone benches. As if the long ride in the coach hadn't been enough time for her body to rest! She figured it was probably just a bit of fatigue and perhaps motion sickness. Either that, or it could've been caused by the extremely long amount of time she had been cramped into that carriage.

She allowed herself to get lost in her thoughts for the time being, as she didn't really know what to do next, and it seemed as though everyone was staying in the entrance hall anyway. Why was she here anyway? She had asked herself this question a hundred times already, but she still couldn't believe that she was here, in the Three Pyramids Academy. She had heard that this was all about magic, and all the more so, she simply couldn't believe that she had anything to do with such a thing.

"All these people," she mumbled under her breath, gazing at the swarms of students crowding the hall, "..they're magicians?"

"I'm from Harilia, way to the North of here. They're not particularly friendly with Jishin," Gaius said.

" I see.." he said, "well, it's a pleasure to meet you" Rex said as his stern face softened into a friendly smile

Ame continued to throw the stone in the air until she got bored with it and accidentily-on-purpose threw it in the general direction of some other students. "Whoops."

Gaius turned as a stone thwacked him on the back. He saw the culprit sitting on a bench.

"Hey, what was that for?" he shouted at her.

Rex was about to laugh, when he noticed one of the tutors staring hard at him, almost scrutinizing. "Oh come on...already?" He mumbled

"Sorry. Accident." She said apologetically.

Gaius turned as a voice boomed from the other side of the hall.

"New Students of the Three Pyramids Academy, follow me to the speech by the Didaskaloi," a Magister shouted, his voice projected by magic.

"Hm? Already?" She turned to the direction of the Magister and then back to the guy she apologized to. "Guess we better get going."

Adriana watched another girl toss a stone into the air. Her eyes followed the trail of the rock as it slammed against the head of another student. She couldn't help but gasp in shock, standing to see if he was hurt badly. At that moment, though, the Magister announced about a speech. It was time to get going...

Gaius followed the crowd into another huge hall. He felt an unnatural buzzing in the room, and remembered it from the time when he had been recruited into the Academy. There were rows of seats which all had their names on them. Occasionaly the seats had numbers carved into them. Gaius realised that these numbers were their power levels. There were only two rows of chairs labeled "8", near the back. He sat down on one of them, next to Rex. On the stage were eight people, dressed in different colour robes. They were the Didalskaloi, the heads of department for each caste in the Academy. Gaius looked at the white-robed man, who was an Aniati, the caste that he wanted to join. He also had a black stripe across the rim of his robe, indicating him as Magister Optimus. The man stepped up to the edge of the podium and started to speak.

"New initiates into the Three Pyramids Academy, welcome," he began. "I am Hiepotep Manioti, the Magister Optimus, the head of the Academy. Behind me are the seven Didaskaloi. They are the heads of each department that will get you ready for your life as a magician." One by one the Didaskaloi made speeches about their individual caste.

Ame sat in a chair and waited for anyone to say something interesting besides the classic beginning of the year speech.

The last Didaskalos, the one from the Crafters, stepped down from the podium, having given a speech about how his Caste was the best. Manioti stepped back up onto the stage.

"Thank you for listening to all of us speak," he said. Gaius agreed, his body was tingling with boredom. "Now you will be escorted over to supper." Gaius stood up and, with Ame and Rex, made his way with the crowd to where they were to eat.

The hall was enormous, with twenty or thirty tables arranged around the room. In the centre was a giant table stacked with food. Everyone, fatigued from their journey, raced to the central table, grabbing plates and cutlery. Gaius wrenched meat and fish off the platters, grabbing some root vegetables as well. He sat down at a table with Ame and Rex.
