I din't nickname my pokémon until I did so in HeartGold ^^
For me it's usually very difficult to create any good names for my pokémon...

@Kecleon King: Blastoise = Pwn Canons and Feraligatr = Feralirapr or Feralraper

So far for my Rotoms I have:

Rotom = Glotom (Glo from Glow since it's a lightbulb)
Mow Rotom = Motom (Mo from Mow, obvious)
Frost Rotom = Frotom (Fro from Frozen)
Fan Rotom = Blotom (Blo from Blow, since it's a fan which blows things)

Still need names for Heat and Wash Rotoms that follow this pattern of beginning with a syllable that rhymes with "Row" and has to do with that form.

For wash form, you could name it "Hydrotom"

I usually nickname my Pokemon. Mostly I relegate the nicknames to the Pokemon I use/might use in my party, but sometimes I might nickname a Pokemon just because I feel like doing so.

I typically name my Absols "Omen".

A few others:
Mightyena = Bane
Psyduck = Migraine
Crobat = Echo
Bronzong = Primsa ( since Bronzor is apparently a mirror)
Rapidash = Firehoof (it had a native american feel to it)
Giratina = Dread
Infernape = Simian

i swore i was gonna nickname all my pokemon in SS. well i forgot. I only really nickmae them when i have a good enough name for it. I never give them Human names. Its usually something funny, ironic, cool, or cute or else something about what the pokemon is supposed to represent.
I had 1 funny thing i was gonna do, I named my Dialga in Diamond Battlestar, and was gonna name Palkia Galactica when i cought it, because i thought it would be to funny in a double Battle to see Battlestar galactica, but 1. Battlestar dosent fit, and 2. I havent caught my own Palkia yet, because i dont want to delete my Pearl File for several reasons and 3. that leaves Giratina out of the theme, poor Giratina.

i have immagined nicknames

i was gonna SR a shiny Mudkip in Soul Silver and call it Skippy, for an unknown reason cause im wierd. I also had a Totodile called Gatorade on my HG before i deleted the file which I shouldnt have dont but i was mad, cause i wanted Gatorade to be shiny, and I ended up with a shiny Cyndaquil called Fuego instead. id been SRing for Totodile for awhile and was gonna name it Gatorade, but them i saw Fuego and couldnt just SR over him. His name was a spur of the moment kinda thing, and it just kinda popped into my head.

I also want to have a nickname ready for the shiny Lugia i hpe im gonna get soon, but dont know what to call it.

I nickname Pokemon I will use in my Team, not very imaginative ones either xD It takes me far too long to name them
Firefly the Typhlosion, Basil the Meganium, Calypso the Noctowl, Bead the Quagsire, Peach the Ampharos, and Amethyst the Espeon.

Just the main ones. I don't bother with the box ones anymore. I used to nickname EVERY pokemon ever, but it got tedious lol.

Ninetales (F) - Rena (derived from 'renard', the French word for fox)
Cubone (M) - Bambi (its mom died)
Stantler (M) - Chopper (named after the adorable reindeer from One Piece)
Squirtle (M) - Kamina (GURREN LAGANN!!!)
Quilava (F) - Asuka (I don't know, I just felt like naming a Pokemon after an Evangelion character)
Lopunny (F) - Faye (a lot of people are comparing Faye from Cowboy Bebop to Lopunny)
Luxray (M) - Simba (childhood, anyone?)

I give my Pokemon very harsh nicknames. For example, in SS, I named my Cyndaquil ButtPirate, my Charmander Ashshitter, etc.

I'm going to name my B/W starter Skidmark!
