I'm not too creative. The best I've done is my amazing Charizard, Snowfire.

I nickname all of them. I never go with a naming theme though, I just name them whatever comes to mind.

I never give nicknames to my pokemon in any game.

I nickname several of my Pokémon, usually those who will end up in my team. Even then, the nicknames used are simple, such as "Aerodactyl" being changed to "Aero".
