^ is right.
< I'm a bit tired. I was up till 2AM.. for what reason? I'm really unsure.
V is feeling a bit woozy, or maybe it's just the fact that the LHC test sped up time. [it didn't really do that at all.]
^ Is wrong, but my siblings and I were quite tired (I understand them as they had work/school, but me?)
< Just 8d sum mashedsed pohteytos :9
V Didn't GET SUCKED IN BY A BLACK HOLE AUGHAGHUGA
^'s ability to control electricity doesn't necessarily mean she can rip out all the components of a computer without touching them.
For technicality sake, ^ lost this power 5 years ago, but still stands to regain it.
< thinks ^ really loved her mashed potatoes.
< had homemade General Tso's. It's hard when you don't have a deep fryer, but somehow it still worked out pretty well. ;9
V has made it to the end of the earth, but is unfortunately bound by the edge gatekeeper to never tell another living soul about it.
^ is not far too difficult to impress, Ruth.
< bought a new digital camera to use on his trip today (3 days 11 hours to go!)
V has never simulated anger before.
Times ticking now. Just a bit over a day now right? I hope you have tons of fun Æsahættr! Enjoy the Plaka, the Parthenon and ...
and... and... and you probably don't have to read any of this if you've already read up on Greece but if you don't mind, here's a few beneficial things I picked up:
eat plenty of Gyros! 2.5 Euros is a good price. Bread.. I'm split on this. At restaurants you'll be given bread whether or not you ask. We ate it because we didn't know if we paid if we refused the bread or not.
Get fresh fruit if you can, it's great. (I found much of it larger and sweeter than fruits here in the US.)
Most decent meals run between 7-9 euros. 10 is an upper limit, but anymore is outright expensive (but sometimes the only option).
0.80 to 1.10 Euros is a decent price for 1.5L bottles of water, but don't worry they're really easy to find.
At the end of the day, help yourself to a fresh cup of carte d'or, it's amazing ice cream that has the consistency of gelato, but it's cheaper than that. I'm not sure if you already have that where you're at, but here in the US there's no cheap comparable ice cream. At all. So this was a real treat for us.
Vendors are friendly and you can get tons of great stuff from them. Keep an eye on your pockets in tight corridors (we were wanred of this, but we were never pickpocketed.)
Now for phonetics: 'neh' means yes, 'oh-kii' means no, 'f-christahno' means thank you. Greek isn't always necessary, English is prevalent enough, but saying thank you in the local language every now sounds polite.
Hmm, well I'm not sure what else to say. Getting around downtown Athens may seem difficult at first, but you'll find the places you want to hang out are all just north-northeast of the Acropolis. After doing a bit of exploring, you'll find the places you want to hang out aren't so far from one another.
I do recommend seeing the Academy, (you really only need to stop by). There are impressive statues of both Athena and Apollo that are a testament to the Ancient Greek art. Oh man, if I missed anything, I'm quite sure you'll find it. Have fun man, have fun.
