Theorymonning: What if this Pokemon had...?

What if every Ghost-type learned Aura Sphere, similar to how (almost) every Water-type learned Ice Beam? Currently, Giratina is the only one with it.

Currently, not every Ghost-type get Fighting coverage, if Hidden Power isn't counted. Some Ghosts get Focus Blast, but the problem is Gengar is the only Specially-inclined Pokemon with this, since the others are more Physically inclined (Dusknoir, Golurk). Golurk is the closest Pokemon with Physical Fighting coverage, though. Basically, the logic for Aura Sphere to be available for Ghost-types is that aura is related to spirits, which the Ghost-types most certainly fit.

The main winners of this are, of course, Specially-inclined Ghosts, which are quite a number of them. The Nasty Plot/Calm Mind ones would prefer that instead of Hidden Power Fighting, which requires tailoring of the IVs to make it work. Aura Sphere skips breeding investment, so it's easier to set up this set. It would also give certain Dark-types some trouble because Aura Sphere's power is a great improvement over anything else, since even Tyranitar is always at most 2HKO by Chandelure unless it runs max Special Defence in Sandstorm and Chandelure isn't using a +SpAtk nature. While Gengar prefers Focus Blast's power, the additional PP (20 PP instead of 5 PP) and perfect accuracy of Aura Sphere are something that could prove to be valuable in the long run. There are other defensive Normal-types and Dark-types who could still take the hits, like Blissey, Umbreon and Mandibuzz, though, so not every Dark-type lost on this.

Thanks for reading.

It doesn't seem like it would really open that much more up with the BP increase of HP Fighting outside Tyranitar.

What if Ninjask had access to Leech Seed? Haven't really thought it through, but could that potentially create a FEARpass situation? Might not work in L. 50 battles, but L. 100s perhaps?

Ninjask - Level 1
Speed Boost/Focus Sash

Protect
Swords Dance
Leech Seed
Baton Pass

Pokemon is not grass, does not have a damaging switch move (U-Turn, Volt Switch):
Lead with Leech Seed. So long as the opponent's pokemon has 80 or more HP, leech seed will heal Ninjask back to full health. This leaves Ninjask free to swords Dance and protect, gaining speed and Attack before baton passing to a (bulky) physical attacker of choice or starting a baton pass chain.

There are obvious counters, particularly switch attacks, Roar/Whirlwhind, and in some situations priority moves. But it still could get scary against some teams.

You do realize Focus Sash only works once, right? After you heal back up with Leech Seed, you'll be left open to attack before you can use Baton Pass, no matter how many Speed boosts you accumulate (even a Lv.1 Ninjask is much slower than a Lv.50/100 everything else).

What if medicham got extremespeed?
Pure power choice band extremespeed would wreck any pokemon without sturdy or is a rock, steel, and ghost type.

What if Volcarona got solar power?

Sun team life orb solar power bug buzz.

What if flareon got flare blitz?

It could still be very nice on a Pokémon that has to deal with its own faaaabulous Speed and faaaabulous defenses anyway. We all know how ridiculously strong Aggron's recoil-free STAB Head Smash is, and that's from base 110 Attack. Imagine base 165. Nothing's escaping that alive.

it would be uu for sure, but any priority bar extremespeed and fake out would kill it.

also medicham choice band with a stab mach punch

Inb4 Trick Room team for Rampardos :D

Rampardos would more likely be using Head Smash as a move. I imagine Rock Polish will be a good move on it, although it does have an Aqua Jet, Mach Punch and Bullet Punch problem even then.

Thanks for reading.

alas why rampardos should'nt and never be use competitively

It would definitely be its most used ability, but other than Head Smash being recoilless, it wouldn't make much of a difference either way.

Talking about Rock Head, what if Aerodactyl had Brave Bird and Head Smash?
XD

This would definitely make Mega Aerodactyl a serious threat. Aerodactyl currently lacks any extremely powerful STAB contact moves, and these moves fill the role quite nicely.
This could allow for a strategy involving keeping Aerodactyl in its normal form if it wanted to use Head Smash on a target that will be OHKO'd by it, and only Mega Evolve when it runs into a wall (no pun intended) it can't simply KO with one Head Smash.
This set would obviously make Aerodactyl incredibly fragile (given its low defenses weakness to Stealth Rock), but it could easily take out 2 or more Pokemon if a team is unprepared to deal with it.

I know it's a bit early for Theorymonning in Gen VI, but...

What if Klefki got Stealth Rocks? Prankster + Stealth Rocks = ???

What if Kabutops could use Dragon Claw? It's seems awfully silly for a Pokemon that should clearly to be able to use it but can't. Or what if more Pokemon had Drizzle as an ability? I'm guilty of using Politoed to win some matches because of Drizzle but if other Pokemon besides Kyroge and Politoed could use it would people use them?

It would be ten times more useful, which is saying a lot as Klefki is pretty decent as it is.

Non-STAB Dragon Coverage isn't the best, but especially with Fairy around, I don't see why it wouldn't just stick to the Rock STAB it usually has.

Politoed is OU on ability alone, so if there were other pokemon with more direct support options like Spikes or SR or pokemon with more offensive power and stats like Suicune or Vaporeon, they'd probably be used over it in a heartbeat.

i like couple of these ideas. but what about magic guard volcarona? no SR or spikes damage on switch ins

What if Fan Rotom had the ability Filter, and Filter was buffed to halve all weather and hazard damage? Filter even kind of aesthetically fits since it's a fan :p

Also, I don't want to sound crazy, but what if Psychic-types lost their weakness to Ghost-type moves and took neutral damage? Isn't it kind of funny how much things have changed with the power of Psychic and Ghost-types since Gen I?
