Things in pokemon that dont make sense

I used to find mammals hatching from eggs weird, but I've decided Pokemon reproduction works kinda differently from normal animals.
How do Pokemon learn moves from TM's? How does some CD teach you how to breathe or Fly?
Speaking of Fly, what's with Doduo/Dodrio, both said to be flightless in-game, being able to Fly?! I always imagined they "flew" by jumping real high...
Kangaskhan hatches with a baby in its pouch. Talk about a prolific breeder.
A ten-year-old, if they're good enough with commanding monsters, could pretty much be allowed to own the goddarn world.

How Ghost could ever have been considered a Physical type pre Gen 4.

In Gen 1 there were only two Ghost type moves, Night Shade and Lick, the former dealt fixed damage so whether it was special or physical didn't matter, while licking is clearly physical, so the type got stuck as physical. That's my theory at least. The Dark type doesn't get nearly as much reason though, being Special when the first Special Dark type move was introduced in Gen IV, the gen that made the split

I figured trainers carry some sort of cd player with them that act as kind of an instruction guide for their Pokémon. In Fly's case, I picture it's less teaching the Pokémon how to fly, and more like teaching it how to safely carry your trainer around places, moves like Ice Beam and Flamethrower I'm not quite sure how it could be taught by audio or video, but I guess in-universe scientists would know Pokémon biology well enough to understand how they work and what they can do.

That said...

I have to wonder how Zangoose and Seviper can breed, though I guess not all Zangoose and Seviper need to be enemies I guess, like how some dogs and cats are friends. Still kinda odd though.

And how do you breed with Ghosts? Or piles of sludge? What's worse is that the Ralts line is in the Amorphous egg group...

You can mass breed pokemon like Yamask and Spiritomb without causing some kind of genocide or apocalypse somewhere.

Heatmor is supposed to be the predator to Durant, yet if a single Heatmor were to fight a single Durant Heatmor would lose most of the time. Remembering that Durant like real ants attack in swarms you wonder how Heatmor are still around.

Pokemon that evolve from trading occasionally show up in the wild somehow.

Greninja is weak to bug types despite being a frog.

Why would a fire type lose most of the time to a Bug/Steel type? Heatmor is bulky in defensives and has 4x effective as well as STAB against Durant.

Durant has high attack, speed and learns dig naturally (and almost always know it when encountered) and Heatmor's defenses are only average at best. Even if Heatmor beats Durant it will be in pretty bad shape afterwards from fighting just one of them let alone many more.

Apparently in Sinnoh, a kid dressed in a light jacket and pants (or in DP's case, shortsleeves...) can walk through howling blizzards and neck-high snowdrifts without getting hypothermia, frostbite, or any adverse effects from the cold whatsoever (dafuq?).

Heatran, according to the pocket Pokedex book I had, was supposed to be genderless, but was female when I first encountered it.

Various NPC's will reference things like your game system or its methods of connecting with others. Wait... do they know that reality as they know it is all a Game Boy game too?!

Why do some Pokemon (in the anime) just start talking? A whole bunch of legendaries (and a Zorua, I guess) have done it now, and many of them don't even have the excuse of being a Psychic-type for using telepathy. Heck, I remember Keldeo and the Muskedeers were talking right off the bat, and they didn't even justify it with telepathy; they just could talk human. WHAT?

Sleeping in a bed will heal your team just as effectively as taking them to a Pokemon Center, where professional nurses and healing machines are used to restore a team to full health. This one isn't so bad though, because there's examples of this all over the RPG genre. ... On that note, why do drinks like milk, spring water, and lemonade restore more health than medically developed potions?

Given Wailord's size vs. weight, its actual density would be lighter than water. It IS the Float Whale Pokemon, though... but how does it stay submerged??

I want to know how friendship causes a sudden and drastic mutation in anything's DNA.

How is it even plausible to ride your bicycle up and down stairs? I've seen videos of what that looks like, and it usually ends with a very painful faceplant.

Has nobody seriously gone after any of the legendary Pokemon or tried to do something about villainous team before PC comes along??

Pokémon when they faint just don't have the energy to fight anymore, seeing as they can still use HM moves outside of battle even when they've "fainted". So they're pretty much just tired, a good sleep would do wonders to them. Pokémon Centers just speed up things because, well, sleeping takes a while. That also explains why you can't use Potions on a fainted Pokémon, it's not because they're just hurt, they're just plain tired. I imagine Revives and the like are used to give the Pokémon a boost of energy, kinda like an energy drink, in some ways.

Maybe happiness is a stimuli that causes the Pokémon's body to react, or gives the Pokémon a lot of energy to allow it to evolve. I'm sure there could be a reasonable scientific explanation for that but just doesn't expect it from me =P

Maybe it could fill itself with water in order to submerge and then uses Water Spout to get rid of and go to the surface?

Would you really want to go after something that can manipulate time or space, or go after something that can put you through eternal nightmares or things that are just extremely powerful that you likely wouldn't be able to stand a chance against it? I wouldn't. The playable characters never catch any legendaries outside of Zekrom/Reshiram in Gen V and Xerneas/Yveltal in VI so I think they don't either.

... Nevermind me, I just like to play Pokémon Professor =P

Some pokemon can't be fed pokepuffs (like Metapod) because they have no mouths but they can eat berries and drink liquids just fine.

Cryogonal can learn attract despite being genderless. Ferroseed, Ferrothorn, Larvesta and Volcarona can't learn attract despite having genders and there being crazier things that learn attract like Muk.

Egg moves that are also a part of a pokemon's level up or TM set (with or without evolution) like Tyrunt with rock polish or Bagon and Fire Fang. Pretty redundant if you ask me.

Lumoise City Restaurants still stay in business even if you make money by going there and frequently use moves like surf and earthquake.

Your pokemon can use dig inside a building and somehow not fall through the floor if you are above ground level

A flying type or levitator using dig is still immune to earthquake.

You can go up stairs with your roller blades. If you though it was odd or painful doing that with a bicycle.

Goldenrod Department Store's basement is open to the public. Isn't that a little odd? It doesn't even close after Team Rocket's attack.

How Calem/Serena shows no signs of rope burn after Coumarine Gym (Grass gym, Ramos)

Revives. This is caused by a lack of explanation as to what it is, but how does a yellow diamond revive my dead... sorry, fainted Pokemon anyway?

How crossbreeding species is even possible.

Why all Pokemon evolve at the same level. Shouldn't there be some variance?

Going with the above issue, under leveled Pokemon. If all evolve at the same level, why are some cheating evolution?

Pokemon in general, really.

Let me nitpick something from the anime. In one episode, a Pokemon uses Petal Dance on Team Rocket, which confuses them. In the games, it confuses the user after a few turns.

Water types like Alomomola being used outside of water.

I can't imagine the muscle power these Pokemon have to stand up straight like they do outside of water.

I had a CD that taught me how to type in elementary school...(joke, guys).

One thing I never understood is why people settle arguments, or otherwise express defeat when their Pokemon faints? A ten year old may beat a 25 year old's pokemon, but what's stopping said 25 year old from kicking that kid in the face?

The fact that said kid's Pokémon are still out? I wouldn't attack a ten year old when he still has his Blastoise out.

That said why everybody needs to settle everything down through Pokémon battles weirds me a bit.

Well... say you were having a swordfight duel with someone. Your opponent disarms you. You now face an armed foe without having a weapon yourself. Would you still attack said foe? I bet not. I think it's the same idea with Pokemon. Plus, just about any Pokemon is strong enough to kick a 25-year-old across a field, so charging the winner is probably as suicidal as trying to fist-fight an armed foe.

As for why everyone settles disputes with Pokemon battles, it's the same reason why duels seem to be the only answer in certain movies. In normal cases, it's a matter of yielding to the one who proves stronger and more skilled than you; in extreme cases (cough cough evil teams), it's more like the swordfighting duel I mentioned before. Bad guys kind of have to concede defeat when you're the one with a dangerous creature protecting you, and their creature can't fight. These cases, particularly any fight involving Ghetsis, Pokemon battle is much more a kind of self-defense than anything. Fight or get torn apart by a three-headed dragon monstrosity. Either way, the loser won't be arguing as much when they're defenseless and you're the one with the sword Pokemon.

I find it weirder that defeated opponents (grunts in particular) just stand there after defeat. Wouldn't they... I dunno, run away? In an ordinary NPC's case, take their Pokemon to a Pokemon Center?

I'm very thrilled with Metagross getting a Mega evolution but isn't mega evolution supposed to be something which is very old, almost ancient? And isn't the Metagross species/line relatively new since they are based on computers/robots ?? So something just doesn't add up there, just an observation I guess
