Ridiculous drop rate chances in single player RPGs. I can understand low drop rate chances in MMORPGs, to avoid the market being flooded with OP items and destroy the economy and the game itself, but this is ridiculous in single player RPGs. There's this character in Earthbound that has a specific weapon that only he can equip, but here's the worst part: it can only be dropped by a timed enemy, it's an enemy that disappears after a certain event in the game. To make matters even worse, that item has a 1 out 128 chance of being dropped, that's less than 1% chance of being dropped.

I spent over 3 hours trying to get it, but to no avail. I'm just going to continue the story.

Lack of playtesting, I mean the games without it (pokemon Dark Cry hack/bootleg had lass crissy be way earlier then she shouldnbe) either A:have bad glitches or B: have obnoxious gimmicks that shouldn't be there.

Timed events in general, while dragon bones in Skyrim were annoying to carry for a while.

Useless Ai partners. Especially if you game over/fail mission when they die. Lance Vance better not have an equivalent in GTA 6 because that dumbass made me dislike Vice City Stories way more than I should have.

Escort Missions. Related to the above. Especially grating if they are horribly underpowered compared to the enemies or are simply unsuited for travelling through insert level here. Cresselia from Mystery Dungeon 2 happened to fall under both.

Fake Difficulty: In all it's forms. One of the main reasons FF13 sucked ass. The party leader dies = game over is utter crap considering FF12 has a similar system that wasn't restrictive.

Ridiculous difficulty jumps as a story progresses. It's super annoying to have to go back and do tons of low level missions just to be able to start the next section of story.

Being able to customize your character but having no customization.

Example: I love the Dragon Age series. I think its the greatest thing on the planet. But if I can have almost 20 options for eye shape I should have more then two options for the voice. The females can either sound like a really girly high noble or she-hulk. While my characters can all look completely different from each other sometimes it feels like I'm playing the same play-through because they all sound the same.

superbosses at a level higher than the cap
I get it's a challenge, but does a superboss need to be level 150 when the cap is 99?

Manual Saving. When there's no autosave and something happens while I play, causing me to reset my game, then realizing I haven't saved at all, I just give up and put it off for a while.

Tutorials can be bothersome. Like that one in Story of Seasons. It should be there for only the Seedling level.

Pseudo random number generater or RNG introduced in any PvP setting. It is the antithesis of competition in a game where people are expected to perform based on their merits/entertainment. Being arbitrarily defeated due to luck generated by errant bits of code rather than being outplayed by someone does not exactly leave a good impression.

An example of this would be critical hits in Pokémon which weigh heavily in deciding the outcome of battle. (No matter how much Smogon tries bring some semblance of balance to meta-gaming one cannot deny that RNG has too much influence.)

It is understandable that Games implement RNG to simulate variable conditions such as weather and physics or if game is a single player game/uses RPG mechanics but these mechanics seems to be seeping into games that purport to be "balanced" around fair play and competition. An example of this would be E-Sports games that have actual monetary stakes. If one would like to gamble why not go to a casino?

I've developed a special dislike for certain QTEs, particularly ones that give barely any time to respond before you get handed an instant game over or a ton of damage. .-.

Pointless sidequests and level grinding. I love Pokemon and I love Mass Effect, but it took both titles way too long to realize that pointless sidequests and level grinding were just a bad idea overall.

Also, if I mess up in a video game with character building, please give me a way to fix my mistake later rather than force me to stick with it permanently or face a complete restart.

Lately I've been annoyed by the AI in Summoners War. When I need a unit to use a certain move, they don't and whatever I'm doing can fail entirely because of that. It's really irritating.

Like in certain dungeons, my Konamiya (a unit I used to bring along with me) would purify at the wrong times. Causing my team to die from damage over time the boss dealt.

I honestly was never bothered by in game AI till now. Really, you had one job!

Time Attacks. In Pokemon Shuffle, I failed a lot of time attack missions because my thumbs weren't fast enough.
