Um, I am not very good at competitive battling. Every time I try to make a team, I make a team of thrown-together, bad sweepers. I haven't a clue how to make a good team. Can someone give me some tips?

1) Visit Smogon.
2) Read their stuff.
3) ???????
4) Profit.

Been there, got in trouble due to lack of experience, no longer welcome.
...Okay, I exaggerate, but seriously, Smogon is the most strict place on Earth.

By the way, no more replies. I'll move this elsewhere.

Read their articles and lurk. Make a team and battle. If it sucks, change it until it doesn't suck as much. Most of the reason that good battlers are good is because they know what to expect from certain Pokemon in certain situations. It all comes from experience, so get out there and battle. There are 1000 lessons in defeat, but only one in victory. Or something like that
