Trailers and News Discussion

Is it too early to suggest that this Silvally/Arceus stuff could be hinting at Gen 4 remakes? ;)

I gotta be honest, it did make me wonder if this would mean they'd give Arceus a new form to again make it the strongest Pokemon in the future. It makes me a little sad that five forms currently beat Arceus in BST, and now that Silvally is a thing (although I don't think it will be among the BST top tiers, but who knows), a synthetic Pokemon created with Arceus in mind, I feel he is losing a bit of power.

I like the idea that Arceus is the strongest there is but I don't know how far they're willing to go in regards to that. I want to see a 800+ ultra origin Arceus form just for the fun broken-ness.

Tsareena is queen and if you disagree we can't be friends :(

Also, an actually good physical Grass type with coverage if it gets (High) Jump Kick and Blaze Kick (its kicks are called blazing got and it literally has chilli legs). Just hoping Trop Kick (best pun) is decent power or it gets Leaf Blade.

Steenee is adorable, absolutely love it.

The Jangmo-o evos look much better animated, still not a huge fan though.

Finally, Ribombee is revealed! If it evolves its getting a spot on my team, if it doesn't then I still like it but I'm not using it.

Olivia's design is awesome and it seems Kahunas are type specialists, which is cool I guess DARK KAHUNA PLEASE

Unlike the Primals and and other box legends, Arceus isn't and never will be allowed in any form of official competition so GF can make him as broken as they want.

I fully expect a 800+bst form(though if they want to they can go for a 1000BST form as a reference to the 1000 arms thing) with a new ability that allows him to be all types at once. They can call the new ability Omnitype or something.

Some special competitions beg to differ, at least for some mythicals like Diancie which had special competitions surrounding them thanks to the PGL's Global Battle Union.

To be honest with you, I see no point in making "god" such a powerful and omnipotent beast in stats and battle. There must be *something* that can bring it down to earth...

Okey! Time for Arylett's Thoughts again! I'll leave out my thoughts on Silvally and Hakamo-o, since I kind of already talked about that elsewhere and they haven't changed.
  • So getting a better look at Kommo-o, (god, I hate their names. I keep forgetting how to spell them, that o at the end messes me up) uh... I still don't know? It looks kind of better from the front view. It's... well, it's the type of Pokemon I would have in my party if I didn't really have any other options for a good Dragon-type, but... it's just not what I expected for a Dragon/Fighting type. I wanted something a little more... oh, I don't know... cool-looking? Instead of something that is just... so bizarre in appearance. I'm sure it's based on something that I don't know or understand, but I still can't really get behind it entirely.

  • I actually kind of like Alolan Muk. Alolan Grimer was cheeselip meh, but this is a far more interesting expansion of the design. The technicolor animation in the battle though is... a bit much. But I like the addition of the poison crystals. It adds a lot to what was a very plain design before. Reading the description though, I would NOT want one of those things in real life. Ew. (Also, I think Poison/Rock-type also makes sense for it. And would've been more interesting because of these Dark Alolan Pokemon we keep getting)

  • I don't really care for Ribombee. It just kind of exists. No comment there. Doesn't do it for me. Nice to have a Bug/Fairy-type though.

  • I think my favorite of this reveal, other than Silvally, is the absolute gorgeous cuteness that is Steenee. Although its description makes it sound kind of... difficult to manage, I imagine there are perfectly nice sweet ones out there! It reminds me of a Grass-type Braixen. So cute! I would like one to add to my party if there's no prettier, fully-evolved Grass-type alternatives. Tsareena though... eh. No. It is not a very graceful portrayal of a queen in my opinion, reminding me more of a man in woman's clothing than anything else. Just way too huffy-looking and cartoony, whilst Steenee is more moe and anime. (Yes, I fully admit that I enjoy that much better) I'm not certain why such focus is put on their kicking abilities though. It seems a little out of place and reminds me of the kicking version of Breloom. Except there's no Fighting-type. Which I'm okay with, it doesn't have to be there. But it still has me turning my head. Are they based on something I don't understand as well?

  • Taking some time to comment on a human design because I don't usually, (humans are boring to me and I completely forget about them when they're revealed, being distracted by the new Pokemon) Olivia is awesome. Her design is more realistic and less cartoony, and she's just... this awesome mature woman of power. Definitely stands out.

Komo-o's become my new favorite. Hopefully it ends up being a Lightning Bruiser like Garchomp to compensate for the double Fairy weakness. Even then, it doesn't have to worry about Pixilate Hyper Voice, so it'd probably stand a better chance than Hydreigon.

Jangmo-o and evo's seem to be based on the mo'o, although they have nothing in common beyond being a dragon and having a name based on it. It'd be kind of neat if they acknowledged the myth more than just by name - the only way they could do that at this point would be if they had a mostly female gender ratio.

Being all types at once means he has a 2x weakness to rock, thats enough of a weak point I say. :p

I mean tbh, Arceus is broken as hell even now with Primals, Mega Fuq and Xerneas running around, he doesn't need a new form at all to compete (unlike the Creation Trio who actually need them, and who I expect to get them), but GF seem to be building up to something with Arceus and I expect to see him get a new form(maybe in SM, though probably in the DP remakes) regardless for story and lore reasons.

So we have localization for the ones we got in corocoro and got some new pokemon in the trailer. Pretty decent. Alolan Muk looks amazing.

Well that's a lot more than I expected! I expected as little as last month, but we got a lot more than I expected, so great! Anyway, here's my thoughts on each part of the trailer!
  • Silvally: I still like how this thing looks and I love the reference to Arceus in its ability, RKS System.
  • Hakamo-o and Kommo-o: Jangmo-o's evolutions have some pretty awesome designs and a pretty solid type to back them up. They look great animated and I really want to have one on my team. Seems they'll be a fast physical attacker, or a fast mixed attacker.
  • Steenee and Tsareena: Bounsweet's evolutions look pretty nice as well and I like the royalty theme and how it is meant to reflect Russian Tsar's, given the name of Tsareena. I didn't expect Bounsweet to evolve twice actually. Also it seems Tsareena's ability is a clone of Bruxish's?
  • Ribombee: FINALLY! We finally get Cutiefly's evolution and its very cute! I love the little scarf it has! Will it evolve again though?
  • Alolan Muk: A bit of an improvement on Alolan Grimer, though I still don't think this Pokemon should have gotten an Alolan Form. Its interesting that they made it multicolored, given how oil does than when its in water.
  • Trial Captain Ilima: Our first Trial Captain! They don't seem too interesting to me though, but now we know who the Verdant Cave Trial Captain is.
  • Kahuna Olivia: OMFG SHE IS SO AWESOME! I love how she dresses in mostly pink, given she's the Akala Island Kahuna. Also it seems she uses Rock type Pokemon, including a Lycanroc. I am so pitting my own Lycanroc against her's, if Rockruff evolves by the time I can face her.
Overall another great news day. Just 1 more month until the release of Pokemon Sun and Moon and I am very excited!

Another batch of great information!

Silvally: I asolutely love this pokemon and the concept behind it!
Jangmo-o's evos: I like them a lot more now that we have seen them in actual gameplay. I plan on using Kammo-o on my first run through Moon.
Steenee + Tsureena: When I first saw the trailer, I wasn't a big fan of their designs, but they have definitely grown on me over the course of the day.
Ribonbee: It looks really cute! I won't use it in the game, but I really like its design ^^
Alolan Muk: I really didn't like Alolan Grimer when it first came out, but I like it a lot more now, and I like Alolan Muk even more! I love how the colors work on it, as well as its concept. I was definitely too quick to judge before.
Ilima: I really like his design! Can't wait to see more of him in the game. Also, I noticed that his earring has the upper section indicated like the other 4 trial captains... so my theory that the section highlighted on the charm shows what island the captain is from is wrong then ;-; Oh well
Olivia: I also really like her design! I can't wait to battle her in-game. Also, considering she specializes in a type, the Rock type. This seems to mean that Kahunas specialize in a type as well as Trial Captains, so I assume Hala specializes in Fighting types since he uses a Crabrawler.

I really liked the news we got today and i'm so hyped for these games!

There might be something in corocoro in November but maybe not. News in the first week of November is likely since we have been getting that throughout the year. Not sure about the 23rd of October.

Anyone has an idea on how Olivia, Ilima and Hala's name could relate to Rock, Normal and Fighting type respectively?

Does anyone else think that the Kahunas will use the Island Guardian of their island and mono-types in which they specialise?

Hala: Tapu Koko + Crabrawler
Olivia: Tapu Akala + Nosepass + Lycanroc

It also seems that the teams increase with one each Kahuna battle. But it's too early to say that clearly.

Tapu Akala? Where was that from? I didn't see it on the trailer. And answer to your question - maybe. That reminds me that we haven't got another guardian revealed yet.

So as for the new characters, Olivia's got a great design and seems cool, and Ilima...looks like a girl but, still very cool design~ X3

Already gave my thoughts on the new Pokemon in the other thread, so I'll just give a brief summary~

Silvally: Very cool, like the RKS reference to the Legendary RCS XP. Wish we could have gotten more from his move animation; the weaker brother to Judgement could at least look a little cooler~

Hakamo-o and Kommo-o: Look much better in game and are almost certainly gonna be the Pseudo~ It certainly should be with such a cool dual Fighting typing we haven't seen before~

Steenee and Tsareena: FAVES OF THE DAY~~ Look beautiful and being Physical Attackers is a nice change of pace and unexpected from such feminine Pokemon~ In a sense, it's similar to Lurantis and Formantis, but since it evolved twice, it separates them a bit more from being potential Version counterparts~ Still possible, I suppose~

Ribombee: Cute, though I expected more of a Fly than a Bee look~ Still like it~

Alolan Grimer and Muk: Alolan Grimer's a bit meh (not bad) but I LOVE how colorful Alolan Muk is~ Nice, looks hella radioactive~

Overall pleased with the news!
