Trailers and News Discussion

Wait, is it confirmed that we battle Trial Captains after completing their Trials? Can anyone tell me how it works? We complete 7 Trials, fight 4 Kahunas...and then what? Is there a "Champion" like person? And if so, why have we not been introduced to them yet?

And I'm disappointed that there are only 7. I feel like that would make the in-game content shorter. I was really looking forward to at least 8.

It has not been confirmed if we battle the captains at all. We might be able to battle some of them, but it's looking like we don't battle them at all. At least not for the trials that is. Supposedly there is a "champion" of some sort, but we know nothing of them yet.

I am a little disappointed there are only 7 trial captains, though I do see why we only have so many trial captains. Based on what we've seen with the UBs, the story will probably take a lot more time than it has in some of the previous games. I do believe there is going to be some sort of Champion at the end, and personally, I don't want to see that revealed till the games, since it seems we have 2/4 of the Kahunas (possibly 3 with the Wailord Boat guy, and 6/7 of the Trial Captions.

Also looking at the world, and some of the features that have been added, it looks like they want us to spend some time exploring, finding new things. I am all for exploration. That's actually really cool, how we have to look for Rattata, and battle them, as our trial. Not to mention did you see the cavern? (I think it's called Verdant Cavern). It's freaking gorgeous, I would gladly take my time with the trial here, exploring each and every crevice.

I hope the trailer will bring us some exciting news too. With all this excitement every gap between news feels like forever. We'll probably see Alolan Dugtrio, and Alolan Diglett. Good chance we'll see Alolan Persian as well. Probably not any new Pokemon, since it's an end of the month trailer, but who knows, and we'll probably get a name for the ghost girl trial captain, and maybe something about the purple bonnet girl and the wailord boat guy).

The purple bonnet girl IS the third kahuna. She is the kahuna of poni island most likely. Kahunas do greet you when go onto their island, and there's no symbol indicating that she's a trial captain.

So... if she has no symbol, and if she's wearing purple which corresponds with the color of her island, and she seems to be greeting you....one can only deduce that she is in fact the kahuna.

I think the guy next to the pelipper and the ghost type trial captain girl are the 2 trial captains that have yet to be revealed

Guess the next bit of news won't be surprising considering what happened. But still be nice to see things officially revealed anyway.

Mostly when someone adds a :p after a sentence, it means they're joking. Ye'r all being too serious :p

With that said, I do hope we get to battle the Trial Captains at some point. For now it seems they're only Type Specialists because their trial is focused on a specific type but still. Maybe the trial on the last island is us having to battle all the Trial Captains we've met, that would be awesome. Elite 7 now instead of Elite 4 :p

I do believe that too, the only thing that is kinda making me think the bonnet girl isn't is that she looks pretty young, even younger than Olivia in fact. Now she could be older, or they might say the same thing about her but in Olivia's bio on the official page, it mentions that she was "chosen to serve as a kahuna at such a young age" almost like they don't normally have kahunas that young.

Like I said, the bonnet girl could be older, or they might say that about both of them, but it does kind of make you wonder. Knowing GF, she probably will be a Kahuna. I don't know about the Pelipper guy though, I don't see a sign of a symbol on him, though I might be missing it. He could be one of our final Kahunas, at least he looks like he can be.

Why are people disappointed in the fact that there are only 7 trials? Have we already started making the assumption that because there is just 7, that automatically means that it will be quicker to complete than 8 gym badges?

I don't understand the disappointment, given the complete lack of information we have in regards to what all of the 7 trials entail. The 7 trials have likely been properly planned and programmed by Gamefreak, to give us a new, refreshing Pokémon experience, rather than the same formula we have been experiencing until now.

I'm disappointed that there are only 7 trials, but I recently played through the 2 Zelda 3DS games, Ocarina of Time and Majoras Mask, although Majoras Mask only has 5 main dungeons compared to Ocarina's 9, I actually completed Ocarina a lot quicker as there was less to do overall.

I am really looking forward to the trials! I don't mind that there are seven, it's a fresh take on the old (and tbh, slightly getting stale and dull) gym-system. I'm assuming that we have only seen the earlier trials which, if they keep the same level curve as with gyms, are easier than later trials, so I'm not concerned with the games difficulty.

I wonder what the 27th will bring. :|
Probably confirmation on Alolan Diglett, Alolan Dugtrio and Alolan Persian. And maybe the sea urchin Pokemon.

My 2 cents on what we're getting:
- Pikipek evos. I don't care that we've seen them from the datamine already, it's about bloody time they're officially revealed :p
- Salandit evo. Same reason as Pikipek's evos.
- Blue haired puple sea urchin thing + evo. Not sure if they're revealing this one, but I just really want to know its types and see it in motion.
- If there are still more features to be revealed, I do think they're going to show off another one.
- Maybe the Akala guardian? I dunno, with GF always revealing so much, it's seems weird for them to keep 3 out of 4 guardians secret :p
- Still think Alolan Persian isn't going to be revealed beforehand, neither Alolan Dugtrio. Especially with Dugtrio I think it's a fun easter egg that's going to be kept secret until the games come out. And they've waited so long with showing Persian, while other Alolan evos were shown way sooner after the pre-evo was revealed, I don't think they're revealing it anymore.

The final evo starter will be revealed!!!

As long as the trial captains don't all have exactly 3 Pokemon each like they did for no damn reason the last few gens, I don't really care.

You'll be glad to know that it seems the trial captains dont have any team at all lol
