It is disappointing to hear this news, I would imagine alcohol & possibly drugs were involved in the incident.
Hey now, let's not start throwing around allegations without any evidence. In my experience, you don't need drugs or alcohol to behave like an idiot.

Wow, that's disappointing to say at least. Way to promote competitive Pokemon to the outside world. =/

Honestly someone who takes a poo in a hallway is full of psychological problems, whatever ever why you look at it.

You are partly right the asthenia of so called friendships people feel inclined to form with morons who do similar activities to them, are powerful. To be a member of the group you have to do awful things. Looking at what has been said about it, it seems it was a group mentality which lead to this happening.

Also as a side note I hardly feel my opinion has much if any voice, it certainly doesn’t constitute libel & is not slanderous. I’m merely speculating which at my last read of the forums rules is perfectly legal.

It's sad when people don't think about the crap they'll end up in for doing stupid things.

Calm down my friend I never threw an allegation at anyone & the event itself is evidence enough, don't worry I'm sure the police will investigate the nonsense that occurred in full. But honestly someone who takes a poo in a hallway is full of psychological problems, whatever ever why you look at it.

You haven't broken any rules. Nonetheless, it isn't in the best interests of this thread to start inventing additional elements to this story, even if they are phrased as speculation.

This certainly brings a whole new meaning to the phrase "well, that's the shits".

I'll never understand the mentality that, as long as you're staying in a hotel, you can do whatever the hell you want.

Wreck your room? Fine, it's a hotel.
Treat the staff like (for lack of a better word) crap? Fine. It's a hotel.
Throw s**t around the halls. Fine. It's a hotel.

The world doesn't work like that! Just because I'm staying in a hotel doesn't mean I don't treat the room, the staff and the other paying guests with respect. This loser deserved to be disqualified. I wouldn't be surprised if the hotel actually presses charges.

I'm amazed at people getting angry at the DQ; unsportmanlike attitude is perfectly suitable grounds for a disqualification, and vandalism of any kind, for any reason, counts as such.

Then again, idiots who vandalize for no reason other than childish amusement/general empty insult, specially with something pretty much a prescholar would do for a prank, don't really care about anything that isn't them.

So that's where charges are pressed and they're given a fine.

Re: UK Video Game Championships qualifier winner disqualified: Play! Pokémon manager

Here's a statement from Ruben which he posted on Smogon:
The Spanish team competing in Birmingham's Pokémon VGC which took place on March 3rd has been subject to harsh criticism by the press and other media, which leads to the following statement.

The events described by different media all over the Internet are in no way true. While one of us may have been involved in an isolated case of vandalism at the hotel where we stayed, this has nothing at all to do with Pokémon, the tournament or the facilities where the tournament took place. The only consequence of his acts was an economic sanction which was paid immediately. We can't tolerate these attempts at discrediting the Spanish players (some of the most skilled players in Europe) , as our behaviour during the tournament was not unacceptable in any way.

and, I have not had anything to do with what happened in the hotel, that I do it a friend of mine...

I went to Hawaii in 2010, and I went to San Diego in 2011, for my pokemon is like my life, I ask please do not make me this .. I won again in Uk and I deserve to go to Hawaii and represent Europe in the pokemon world...

we were in our room and we were speaking and talking a little bit loudly... one of my friends took a "poo" and left it at the corridor, wrapped in paper. I told my friend not to do that but he did it anyway... it was so embarrasing I couldn't say anything at the moment... I said it was the one who had done it because my friend was ashamed to admit he had done it..

I would really apreciate that The pokémon Company thought about the decision they have taken once again and refresh their website after taking my defence into account. Thank You.

You can choose to believe that or not (personally I don't).

Um, I'm sorry? That is just...so disgusting. Who the heck does that? I thought they were human beings, not wild animals.

I'm not sure if he was fined by the police or the hotel, but I have heard that he received a £100 fine, which was paid in full.

People in Europe can attend any European qualifier they wish, granted they have the time and money to do so. I know people who are planning on going to all of them (The UK one is already done, then there's Germany, France, Spain and Italy).

If it was truly his friend who did it, he should have told his friend to pick it up immediately, and if he didn't, he'd report it to the hotel staff. Or better yet, threaten to tell the hotel staff if his friend did it in the first place.

I don't feel any sympathy for the guy.

Re: UK Video Game Championships qualifier winner disqualified: Play! Pokémon manager

Wow, I remember reading @Joshawott's write-up where he talked about seeing that in the hallway.... I had no idea that it would actually lead to the disqualification of a Pokémon champion. People really need to get some maturity.

Haha, well if Cynthia was throwing her feces into the hallway, I think they'd question her Champion status as well. :) Hehe.

I've just heard from people on the PokémonWorld chatroom that Ruben has received an indefinite ban from all Play! Pokémon events.
