Hey Folks!
If you don't know me, my name is Unovia, otherwise known as Travelin' Dan in the Pokemon of the Week (POTW) articles. I decided I would replay Pokemon Y, but in a similar style for a Nuzlocke, more of a "Modified" Nuzlocke.

Here are the rules:
1. I can catch any Pokemon, any number of Pokemon on a route. The only thing is that I can only catch Pokemon that would be Beautiful, Cute, or Adorable in their FINAL FORM. The exceptions to this include Snorlax or Legendaries.
2. If a Pokemon faints, it is dead and must be boxed. This does not apply to catches before Santalune Forest, since Shauna heals up your team in the forest. Deaths start to count between the forest and Santalune City.
3. I can only use the same number of Pokemon as a Gym Leader.
4. Trade between games is not allowed.
5. Dupes Clause is in effect.

Does this mean I will catch them all? Probably not. It will be a fun run anyway. Can I beat Kalos with a team of Beautiful Pokemon? Let's find out!

Log #1-Beginning to Santalune City
I start the game with the name Victoria and my starter is Fennekin. On Route 2, I capture 5 Pokemon, giving me a full team before Santalune Forest. Upon starting through the Forest, I eventually capture a Pikachu, my major capture for the Forest. My goal was to get my team between levels 8 and 10 before leaving the forest, where the Nuzlocke began. After leaving the forest and getting to Santalune, I train Pikachu up to level 10 along with a few others. A rest and heal later, I go to catch the Litleo on Route 22. I also transfer a few Pokemon to the PC. My next goal is to get my team of 6 to level 12, when I will be ready to face the Gym Leader, Viola.
Pokemon Seen:24
Pokemon Obtained:11

Current Team:
Fennekin-Lv.10
Pikachu-Lv.10
Litleo-Lv.10
Zigzagoon-Lv.10
Fletchling-Lv.10
Pidgey-Lv.10

While I will have my full team when I go after the trainers in Viola's Gym, I will reduce my team to Fennekin and Pikachu for the Gym battle, though there is some training yet to do. I also have the Roller Skates, so I can have some fun skating around Kalos.
Log #2 will be the Santalune Gym.

Log #2-Santalune Gym
I started up the game and spent some time training up my team. At this point, Farfetch'd is a fantastic Pokemon to level up against, as it gives the highest Experience (123 Exp) and also they are guaranteed to be at level 7, which given that my team is level 10 when I am training, that helps to go through much of the leveling. I later figure out that any Pokemon that is level 7 at this point can level me up pretty quickly.
Eventually, I get to level 12, and, with my full team of 6, I switch train on the trainers. Once I beat all of the Gym trainers, I leave to go to the Pokemon Center to heal and drop most of my team into the PC. With my duo ready to go, I go after Viola. The battle starts with Pikachu vs. Surskit. One thundershock beats it, then I switch to Fennekin vs. Vivillon. Vivillon is a tough customer, able to withstand many ember attacks. Luckily for me, Vivillon doesn't fire off infestation, preferring to stick with tackle. The experience yield gets Fennekin to level 13 and almost 14!

My Team:
Pikachu-Lv.12
Fennekin-Lv.13
Litleo-Lv.12
Fletchling-Lv.12
Zigzagoon-Lv.12
Pidgey-Lv.12

I think I will keep my team going until I go through a few catches, especially on Route 4, which is a big time Route for this run, since many of the Pokemon that are beautiful start out here. I will probably drop Zigzagoon and Pidgey once I catch the next captures then retreat back to Route 22, which will be my training location until Lumiose. My main trainables are going to be Ralts, Budew, Combee, and Flabebe. Not sure what my team is going to be going into Lumiose, since I will be switch training to level 12. We will see which ones I will stick with.

The next log will be after my training spree and before I go into Lumiose. I hope I can get all of my catches before I have to beat all of the trainers.

Log #3-On the Road To Lumiose
After beating the Santalune Gym, I took my team and I was indeed able to get all of the Route 4 catches, training up Ralts, Budew, Combee, and Flabebe up to Lv.14. Pikachu and Fennekin were the only ones of my original team to carry on to Route 4 and Lumiose beyond, the others getting put in the PC. Pikachu was a major help here, especially since the Gardeners all had Corphish. When I was ready, I met with Sina and Dexio, making sure to have Flabebe as the lead in the team, especially since they bring up about Flabebe being Fairy.
Crossing into Lumiose, I made sure to heal up at the Pokemon Center, since the first thing that has to be done is the battle against Sycamore.

My Team:
Fennekin-Lv.15
Pikachu-Lv.14
Ralts-Lv.14
Budew-Lv.14
Combee-Lv.14
Flabebe-Lv. 14

I don't know how I will respond to Sycamore's Charmander, since most of my team is weak against Fire. Bulbasaur will be easy, as will Squirtle. The next Log will feature the Sycamore battle as well as the remaining bits of the first visit to Lumiose.

Log #4-First Run Through Lumiose
Upon going into Prof. Sycamore's battle, he opened with Bulbasaur, which Fennekin easily dispatched with Flame Charge. Pikachu went up against Squirtle, easily besting it. Then came the dreaded Charmander, which I actually fought using Fennekin in order to counter it and make sure Fennekin evolved, since usually my starter tends to evolve after this fight, which proved true, with Fennekin evolving to Braxien.
Oh, here we go. The big choice. Which Kanto Starter? I would like to thank the voters for getting involved in this question. When I typically play Kalos, I choose Charmander, since having the two forms was a major appeal to me. I thought about this choice for a while, eventually picking Bulbasaur. As soon as the battle and selection was done, I put Ralts back in the box. I moved back to Santalune, then Route 22, where I trained Bulbasaur and the rest of my team to Lv. 16, which brought Bulbasaur to Ivysaur.
Once my team was trained up, I completed the initial quests for Lumiose, then prepared to go onto Route 5.

My Team:
Braxien-Lv.16
Pikachu-Lv.16
Ivysaur-Lv.16
Budew-Lv.16
Flabebe-Lv.16
Combee-Lv.16

The next Log will be through to the battle with Snorlax.

Log #5-Camping In Camphrier Town
Going through Route 5, I ran into Korrina for the first time, then captured my catches for the run, then went after Tierno, beating him soundly. Finally I crossed through Camphrier Town, passing through quickly. As I ran to Parfum Palace, I took a detour into the grass, catching a few more Pokemon and having a few more battles. After clearing out the grass, I finally took on the palace. The dreaded Furfrou Puzzle came up after I obtained Cut. Eventually, I had to look up how to best it, did so, then had the fire works show. Doesn't feel the same during the day.
With the Poke Flute in hand, I commenced the battle with Snorlax. This battle was tricky, as the sleep specialist can't be poisoned due to the ability Immunity, but eventually I captured it. Moving onward, I stopped at the Battle Chateau and was given the title of Baroness. The Battle Chateau is a favorite spot of mine for leveling up different Pokemon in a hurry so I can use them in a full team. Usually toward the end of the game, I spend a lot of time there, getting the top title. Quickly moving on, I battled the artists in the area, one of whom froze my Pikachu. Eventually moving beyond them, I finished this log with a battle against Tierno and Trevor, crushing them soundly.

My Team:
Braxien-Lv.21
Pikachu-Lv.21
Ivysaur-Lv.21
Vespiquen-Lv.21
Roselia-Lv.20
Floette-Lv.20

Now looking at Connecting Cave, I pause, taking a rest and readying myself for what comes next. Until the next log, see you! Happy New Year!

Log #6-Training Sesson 1
After traveling through Connecting Cave to Ambrette Town and receiving Rock Smash, I realized I didn't have a good Pokemon to put it onto. As a result, I took a few days to train up my Zigzagoon and a full team of other Pokemon to between levels 18 and 20. I knew that the next major battles are in Glittering Cave (the first Team Flare fight) and I wanted to be ready and have a good Rock Smasher for the time. I also decided to train up some Pokemon that I plan to use at a later time. At this point, I had to be very careful to train up in the Battle Chateau on monsters that were lv.15. By the time I got some of them to lv. 18, I could confidently go after lv.20 battles.
My Team:
Espurr (Romeo)-Lv.18
Espurr (Juliet)-Lv.18
Ralts-Lv.19
Linoone-Lv.20
Fletchinder-Lv.20
Litleo-Lv.20

From here, I will go back to Ambrette Town, then go on for a while, with the next log up to Cyllage Gym.

Log #7-The Rise of Team Flare
I ran through Glittering Cave and began to fight Team Flare. My team may not be set for going after them, or it may just be my levels. I really don't know. Went through each member, making sure to save, then got the Sail Fossil. First time I am considering using an Amaura. Got it restored at Ambrette. Carried on through the rest of Route 8, coming into Cyllage City. I got my bike, now I can speed through Kalos a lot faster. Picked the Green bike because I just don't like the Yellow color. I am now sitting in front of the Cyllage City Gym, not sure if I should train up my Ducklett for eventual use, which given its level, I may have to go back to Route 5. Or, I could just power on and see if I could battle Grant. I have a few Pokemon I could train, like Ducklett and the Espurrs. At least I am near a Pokemon Center.

My Team:
Braxien-Lv.24
Pikachu-Lv.24
Ivysaur-Lv.24
Roselia-Lv.23
Vespequen-Lv.23
Floette-Lv.23

Other Pokemon To Train:
Espurr (Romeo)-Lv.18
Espurr (Juliet)-Lv.18
Rals-Lv.19
Ducklett-Lv.14
Amaura-Lv.20

I think, for a few days, I am going to train, since Grant can be a difficult fight. It will definitely be interesting. The next logs will be about the training session and finally the battle against Grant.

Log #8-Training Session #2
I got my other Pokemon that I felt I wanted to train for the future, training in the Zubat Roost until I was at level 23. Almost lost Ducklett a few times as I trained it. That would have been a problem because I need to have a Water Type and a Flying Type in my team. I got it trained up and now it's in my main team, dropping Vespiquen. I switched out my other team for my main team and decided to train up using the various trainers. With all of them now done, now it is time to face Grant.

My Team:
Braxien-Lv.25
Pikachu-Lv.25
Ivysaur-Lv.25
Roselia-Lv.24
Ducklett-Lv.24
Floette-Lv.24

Not sure which members to use. Let's do a breakdown of Grant's Team:
Amaura-Lv.24 (Rock/Ice)
Weaknesses:Fighting & Steel (x4)
Ground, Rock, Water, & Grass (x2)

Tyrunt-Lv.24 (Rock/Dragon)
Weaknesses:Fighting, Ground, Steel, Ice, Dragon, & Fairy (x2)

The next posting will be the battle against Grant, which should be later today. Stay tuned!

Log #9-Cyllage Gym
The battle with Grant, finally. In this battle, I chose to run with Roselia and Floette for 2 reasons. First, see the type breakdown analysis I put up on the previous post. Second, they were the two Pokemon I could sacrifice and easily replace them in my roster if needed. I opened with Roselia against Amaura. Roselia began with Mega Drain which did about half damage to the ice dino. Amaura has Refrigerate, which turns all moves into Ice Type and gives a 30% Power Boost. Amaura used Take Down, which was an Ice move due to the ability. That took down Roselia. RIP. Guess I won't have a Roserade.

With Roselia down, I was against the wall. Floette used Razor Leaf, which, combined with the Take Down recoil damage, took down Amaura. Now it was Floette vs. Tyrunt. I used Fairy Wind to hit Tyrunt, who then used Rock Tomb, bringing Floette down to under half. I used a Super Potion to replenish Floette, and then Tyrunt used another Rock Tomb. With a final, nerve racking push, I decided to risk attacking with Fairy Wind, which took down Tyrunt.

I have my first death, Roselia. I think I will replace it with Amaura, since I don't want to have to pick one of the Espurrs, which are both almost ready to evolve and I want to use both.

Log #10-Stonehenge, a Hall Of Mirrors & Mega Evolution
With the battle against Grant concluded, I move through the trainers on Route 10. I catch an Eevee in a Luxury Ball. Combine that with Happiness and a Soothe Bell and I hope to be looking at a Sylveon soon! Team Flare Grunts showed up in the grass near Geosenge, but thanks to my balanced team, I got through it and moved onto town. After healing up and doing some story events, I moved through to Route 11. I trained my team, including the infamous Brain and Brawn. Before I went into the Reflection Cave, I decided to grab some revival and healing items as well as getting my team up to Lv.30.

Reflection Cave can be a game breaker if you are not prepared for it! This can happen because of Wobbuffet. Wobbuffet has Shadow Tag, which stops Pokemon from switching out. Luckily I didn't run into one, otherwise Destiny Bond would have bested me. A lot of the trainers have Bulldoze and Sawk and Throh. Those two are beefy! It takes a lot, even in the best moves, to take them down. Eventually getting through the caves, I arrive in Shalour City.

Playing through Shalour City and getting to the tower of Mastery was fun. Right now, Psychic Types are an issue for my team, so once I get Fly, I may go back to Geosenge to get a Stunky and train it up to a Skuntank so I can counter Olympia in the future. Funnily enough, my Ivysaur evolved to a Venusaur after the battle with the rival. Made sure to give it the Mega Stone. My Pokemon team went through the Shalour Gym, training as we went.

The next log will be the battle against Korrina! Thinking about training my team to level 36 so my Braxien is a Delphox and my Ducklett is a Swanna (Lv.35) before I am ready to go after her.

Braxien-Lv.34

Log #11-Shalour City Gym & The Tower of Mastery
After I completed my training, getting all Pokemon to level 35, I took on Korrina. The team I used for this fight was Braxien, Swanna, and Floette. I opened with Floeete against her Mienfoo. Floette used Fairy Wind against it, and Korrina used both of her Super Potions on Mienfoo. Once it fainted, Floette faced Machoke. Machoke used Rock Tomb to counter the Fairy Wind attacks. When Hawlucha was ready to come out, I changed to Swanna. Swanna was fast enough, thanks to Aerial Ace, and after two such attacks, Hawlucha went down. It seems Hawlucha didn't have a response. At the end of the battle, Braxien evolved into Delphox. I now have 3 badges.

Even so, that was not the end of the battles with Korrina. She challenged me to go after her at the Tower of Mastery for the Mega Ring. After exchanging pleasantries, she gave me one of her Lucario to have a Mega Evolved Lucario battle. After Mega Evolving, I tried to use Bone Rush first, which did minimal damage. With my Lucario almost fainting to her Power Up Punch, I used Power Up Punch to win the battle and the Mega Ring. I then stored Lucario away and got out my team again.

My Team:
Delphox-Lv.36
Pikachu-Lv.35
Venusaur-Lv.35
Amaura-Lv.35
Swanna-Lv.35
Floette-Lv.35

I am considering my next move. There are a few things I am setting up to do.
1. Collect Surf & Lapras. Lapras will go into the box and Swanna will get Surf.
2. Go to Coumarine City and get Fly. Put it on Swanna.
3. Fly to Geosenge Town and Route 11 to get a Stunky.
4. Train Stunky and a few other Pokemon using the Battle Chateau. Get Stunky to Skuntank and Eevee to a Sylveon. Train it up and exchange Floette for Sylveon.
5. Get the Quick Claw from Lumiose City.

Looks like I have some training to do. Things should get interesting for a while.

Log #12-Coumarine City Gym & Going After A Checklist
After besting Korrina, I left through Route 12, picking up Lapras in the process. Then I rode Skiddos for a while, collecting the Shiny Stone. Leaving the Skiddos behind, I battled the last few trainers before Coumarine. Coming into the city, Calem challenged me to battle. Before I did that, however, I gathered Fly. Unfortunately, I couldn't use it without beating Calem and Ramos, so I headed over there. The battle went smoothly, with me being several levels higher than him. Amaura beat Meowstic and Floette beat Absol and Frogadier. After Calem left, I challenged the Coumarine Gym, training my team in the process.

Might I just say that, if the Pokemon world was real and I was going through that Gym Puzzle, I would have had rope burns! After I beat the trainers, I reduced my team to Delphox, Swanna, and Amaura. Taking on Ramos, I opened with Delphox, beating Jumpluff. When Ramos switched to Gogoat, I switched to Swanna, ensuring that Gogoat could not use Bulldoze. Using Aerial Ace eventually took it down, leaving Ramos with Weepinbell. Unsure whether I could use Amaura in this battle, due to the fact that Amaura is 2x weak to Grass and Amaura is slow. Nonetheless, I tried, and was surprisingly successful. Amaura was able to move faster than expected, swiftly taking out Weepinbell, getting me my 4th Badge.

My Team:
Delphox-Lv.39
Pikachu-Lv.38
Venusaur-Lv.38
Amaura-Lv.38
Floette-Lv.38
Swanna-Lv.38

With Ramos bested, I gave Swanna Fly, got my entire team, then flew to Geosenge Town, rushing quickly to Route 11, eventually finding and catching a Stunky. After that, I flew to Camphrier Town, exchanging my team for:

My In Training Team:
Espurrs-Lv.23
Eevee-Lv.20
Stunky-Lv.21

Once I get my In Training Team settled to Level 38 (with hopefully Eevee as a Sylveon), I will be moving onto Lumiose City. It will take a few days to do so more than likely. Stunky, as Skunktank, will be a switch out with Venusaur, while Sylveon will replace Floette. My To Do List has completed items 1, 2, 3, and working on item 4 right now, and when I get to Lumiose once again, I will complete my checklist, then head for Clemont. I am currently training in Reflection Cave, due to Eevee having Bite, and building my Eevee's happiness using the Amie games and petting. I can only get Sylveon if Eevee has 2 hearts of affection and knows a Fairy Type move. With Eevee being Level 20, the closest level with a Fairy move is Level 29 (Charm), so I have 9 levels to get Eevee happy enough to evolve to Sylveon.

Should Eevee get to Sylveon at level 29, then the Espurrs should be level 32 Meowstics and Stunky should be at level 30, given the level disparity. Will update, hopefully within the next few days with my evolutions and in the process of training up to level 38 with the rest of my team.

Until next time, see you soon!

Log #13-Sylveon
It took me a few days, but I got Eevee to Sylveon. I trained Eevee until level 26 in Reflection Cave. Both Espurrs became Meowstic at level 25, then I decided to box them. At level 26, I moved my training of Eevee to Parfum Palace, looking for Audino for Audino grinding. It's crazy how many Venipede there are in the bushes of Parfum! The good thing was that Eevee had Run Away. At levels 27 and 28, because it is daytime, Eevee wanted to evolve into Espeon. Luckily, once I got Eevee to level 29, it learned Charm, finally giving me the Fairy Type move I needed, becoming Sylveon.

I decided to put Stunky back in the box at level 25, since for some reason, I couldn't train it on Route 12. Besides, once the Chateau is high enough level, I can level up whatever I want. I think I am going to level Sylveon at the Battle Chateau to get it to level 38. Once I do that, I will bike through Route 13, getting to the Kalos Power Plant and the battle with Team Flare. Given what levels Team Flare will have (Mid 30's), I will be in a good position to beat the Power Plant (Sylveon gets Moon Blast at level 37, an indispensable move). With the addition of Sylveon, I think I have my final team for the rest of the game, pending final level ups.

Venusaur-Lv.38

The next posting will be moving onward to the Kalos Power Plant. See you next time!

Log #14-The Future Is Now, Thanks To Science!-Kalos Power Plant & Lumiose Gym
After some extensive training at the Battle Chateau, Sylveon and the rest of the team got to Level 40. I raced through Route 13, crushed the Team Flare Grunt guarding the Power Plant, then after looking for the key, took on the Team Flare grunts and admins in the Power Plant, left and saw a really tall man. Going back into Lumiose City, I collected the Quick Claw finally, rewarded myself with a hair cut, watched the Lumiose Tower light up, then took on the tower. Beating the trainers, I narrowed my team down to Delphox, Aurorus, and Venusaur. I was at Levels 41-42 before the battle with Clemont.

The Future Is Now, Thanks To Science! Opening up this fight was Aurorus against Emolga. One Aurora Beam crushed it. I changed to Delphox for Magneton. Magneton used Electric Terrain, to which I used Mystical Fire, thinking I could beat down Magneton. Seeing no change in Magneton, I changed to Flamethrower. Magneton triggered Sturdy 3 times, finally going down to a final Flamethrower. For Heliolisk, I changed to Venusaur and Mega Evolved. Two Petal Dances and I beat it, only being hit once by Thunderbolt.

This battle was easier than I thought it would be, probably due to my levels. Might go to train again at the Battle Chateau before heading to Valerie. See you on the next post.

Log #15-Slogging Through the Bog & Laverre City Gym
After beating Clemont, my friends wanted me to meet with them on Route 14. Instead, I went training through the Battle Chateau, training my team to Level 45. The Audinos are finally showing up, but no Gym Leaders yet. Then, I traveled to meet with my friends, beating my Rival yet again. After going to the Ghost House (what a scam of a "Scary Story"), I traveled through the Laverre City Gym, beating the trainers to level up, then I left the doll house and reduced my team to Delphox, Sylveon, and Venusaur. Before the battle, I changed Poison Powder to Venoshock. My team of six is levels 46-47, with my 3 battlers are level 47.

The first fight was Delphox vs. Mawile. One Mystical Fire killed it. Then, in an attempt to throw me out of the Gym, Valerie changed out to Sylveon. I switched to Venusaur and Mega Evolved. One Venoshock beat it. That was surprising, considering how bulky Sylveon is. Finally, I went Sylveon vs. Mr. Mime. Mr. Mime was a tough customer, having access to both Screens. That made him thicker than expected. Sylveon was finally able to best it.

As I left with my 6th Badge, my friends encouraged me to join them at the Poke Ball Factory. I saw a red suited man near the Factory. This is not going to go well, FOR THEM! I will post again after the Factory is cleared and I get to Dendemille Town. See you soon!

Log #16-Clearing the Factory & The Town of Windmills
After busting into the Laverre City Poke Ball Factory, I preceded to beat all of the Team Flare Grunts there, switching all of the conveyor belts as needed. Once I beat the admins solidly (I was about 10 levels higher than my Rival at this point), I got the Big Nugget and the Master Ball. After leaving the Factory, my prizes in hand, I rushed onto Route 15, battling all the trainers there. I reached Level 50 with most of my team by this time. Continuing my training, I cleared out the Lost Hotel, then finally come into Dendemille Town. This is the town with the Move Deleter and Move Relearner. Unfortunately, I didn't have a Heart Scale at all, and I wanted a Heart Scale for my Sylveon.

As a result, I flew back to Coumarine City and swam in the Azure Bay, where I knew I could get one. While surfing around, I cleared out the trainers, then got the desired Heart Scale. If I need more, I can always get Linoone to break some rocks, since he has Rock Smash. Goal done, I flew back to Dendemille Town, exchanging the scale for Draining Kiss for Sylveon. While I was in the mood to change up a moveset, this time for Aurorus, I got it Bulldoze at Lumiose City, changing it out instead of Ancient Power. The only TM I do not have is Shadow Ball for Sylveon, though I know where to get it, and since the area is not yet available, I will wait. Before I go through Frost Cavern, my plan is to get to Lv.53 through the use of the Battle Chateau.

While I was at it, I decided to reward Pikachu by using the Thunder Stone on it, making it a Raichu. With that, my team is complete, and now all I have to do is sail through the rest of the game, at least to the League. The next update is up to the Anistar City Gym. See you soon!
