Well, I may or may not post poems here occasionally when I get a chance. Feel free to tell me what you think. ^_^

Saying Goodbye, an original poem by Vivillon.

How does one say good-bye,
Bid farewell to the one they love?
Is it a touch, a kiss,
Or just a gentle gesture?
Would they just leave in silence,
Feeling the love in their hearts?

Or would they just part,
Leaving the weight inside them?
Would they acknowledge their pain,
And that which holds them back?

Or would they just tie up all that which was never done,
So they may part with no regrets?
Would they talk their last hours,
Or would they just go for a ride one last time?

Who is to say what we would do,
If you never feel this sickening distance?
For the truth is:
You never know how to say it until you say it.

Life's Lemons, by Vivillon

When life gives you lemons, why make lemonade?
Or grape juice or soda or anything of the sort?
Why give it back, curse, and be just plain rude?

Why are we told these things, when they make no sense?
Lemonade is more than just lemons.
Grape juice doesn't even contain lemons.
Why would one curse at life for giving them a gift and turn it down?
No, The best option is to just cut the lemon and squeeze it into water or iced tea.

Anyways, what do you guys think?

I really liked them. I thought you chose interesting subjects that seemingly have a meaning to you in some shape or form, and that really comes across in your writing. Definitely continue to post. I also liked your personal spin on these subjects and the way in which your poetry language conveys that. It seems very down to earth and simplistic in style in a good way! :)

Here's another one:

Weather

The frigid wind, that cold-blooded menace,
She stings as she blows and brings strength to its limits.
As it comes, it flies, and takes the ice along with it.
When it lands, it strikes; it always lands a big hit.

The heat, it's not all too much better,
In the water, it's fine, but oh too strong a weather.
Its battles are fierce, bringing men to their knees,
As they work oh so hard, sweat starting to bleed.

Oh but that moderate weather, she's a friendly face.
Bringing nice spring breezes and days perfectly paced.
It's these beautiful days, they make me feel free!
Now autumn and spring, that's the time for me.

Awesome! I'm really liking the influx of poetry works here at the Workshop lately! I really liked the weather one, but all were great!

Thanks! Glad you liked them. :)

Quite enjoyable to read! A bit more lighthearted than mine too, haha.

I prefer to use poetry to portray the finer things in life rather than slam upon the negatives. It adds to a much happier mood.

Friends

What is a friend, and what do they do?
Must they be old, or can they be new?
How do you meet them, and why are they there?
Are our lives separate, or can they be shared?

Is a friend someone to trust, to laugh and to love?
Will they be by your side when push comes to shove?
Are they in your heart, or just in your mind?
Are they quite common, or are they a rare find?

Do they hold your hand, let you squeeze it real tight?
Do they talk things out, rather than argue and fight?
Are they there for you, whatever the day?
Will they take you in and give you a nice stay?

Do they help you survive, when time is quite trying?
Do they sit by your bed, when you lie there dying?
Are they in your thoughts, when you lay down your head?
Do they put down their tasks to help you instead?

A friend is a gift, one to hold close and dear.
A friend is a giver, bringing love, mirth, and cheer.
A friend is there, helping all that you do.
A friend is forever, to be shared with me and you.

Very lovely! Your poetry really shows off your own personality and I can see that you put your feelings into what you write.

I hope to see you continue posting!

I haven't been able to come around here and read for a while, so this thread was like a bright little light drawing me over.

I'm glad I dropped in here, and the little poems were a joy to read! Keep on going! :D

Thanks for all the positive feedback, everybody! ^_^ Sorry I haven't been able to post in a little while; I've been rather busy writing short stories and doing stuff in real life. Anyways, here is my newest poem!

Rain

The friend of the forest, the enemy of the child.
The nuisance to the walker, the gift to the crop.
The life-force of all, so gentle and mild.
The giver of life with the power to stop.

She blows in storms, bringing destruction by the mile.
Never stopping, staying indifferent all the while.
Her forces are strong, her will resolute.
She presses down upon us with her heavy boot.

Her kisses are gentle, a welcome embrace.
When struck in the mouth, she leaves quite the bitter taste.
Like a good friend, she can be fun to be around,
But when around too much, you growl like a hound.

The end of fire, the love of the ground.
From ground to sky, she goes around and around.
She pours from the sky, only to go back again.
She is pouring water; she is rain.

Piano

Your fingers glide; I sing.
Your ideas come out; they ring.
Our thoughts are one; they flow.
You play my two voices; ones high, one low.

Your fingers, they fly
And our songs, they fly high.
You pluck my heartstrings one at a time.
While I'm a singing bird, you're a silent mime.

I vibrate, I echo, I bounce up and down.
You fingers, they dance like a princess in her gown.
Once again, we are one, as we reach the end.
Until the next song, so long once again.

I seriously like how your poets match your username.

Simple, free, unique, and natural just the Vivillons. I can imagine cheerfull Vivillons dancing on the air, whenever I read your poets :3.

Very nice poetry Vivi! I liked all of them, though my favorite was the Piano I guess it's because I'm a musician as well lol ^-^

The Hospital

Around me, the beeps and sounds.
Beneath me, the cold, hard floor.
In front of me, in beds they are bound.
Asleep, but they do not snore.

Alive, but they do not live.
Like machines, only with life.
With wires, plugs and cables.
Their fuel rests upon a table.

The hospital, it runs like a hive.
Inside all, the will to survive.
Brought together, families go on.
With each other, we grow strong.

In Your Dreams

In the world made of dreams, what do you see?
Are they in color, or just shown in black and white?
Are they dark, or have they been filled with light?
Are they limited, or have they been set free?

Are they of times past or what’s yet to come?
Are they fictional events, or ones already done?
Are they of happy, sad, or somewhere in-between?
Are they too preposterous to even be a dream?

What kind of creatures are there? Where are they found?
Are there robots, zombies, or alienkind?
Or are there dragons, elves, and goblins abound?
Do you explore, not knowing what to find?

What do you feel in this mystical realm?
Do you feel the weighing down of your shiny metal helm?
Do you hold onto your sword as you vanquish the dragon?
Do you feel the coat of your dog as his tail is a-waggin’?

Or do you feel water as you dive oh-so-deep?
Are you hunting for treasure for your personal keep?
Are you fending off pirates, as you battle the seas?
Fighting over treasure, for one crew to seize?

Do the scents fill your nostrils, those aromas so sweet?
Are you baking a cake or some delectable treat?
Are you roaming the fields, the pastures so green?
With the grass freshly cut and the air nice and clean?

What awaits you in this world, of magic and mystery?
Of days yet to come, and the ones already history?
Oh this world of your dreams, it’s a wonderful place.
One blessed and sacred, filled of pleasure and grace.

Really loved the rhyme scheme in this poem. I see a lot of poems with just an AABBCC scheme, but even the simplest of changes like AABCBC are so nice.

Also enjoyed the theme of this poem; to me it seemed very relaxing. Keep up the poetry!

I really like what I'm seeing here Vivillon. They're all good and you shorter, simpler ones still make their message. The spread of topic and rhyme schemes show variety, which is a very important quality for a writer. Nice job!
