"Well thank you Anna, I think you're a pretty cool chick too." Sophie told her with an earnest smile. Unlike most of the current conversation, this wasn't any attempt at scheming or manipulation, she actually thought that Anna was pretty chill. "And as much as I'd like to think that would be case... I fear it will be more of a cold war scenario... you know, passive aggressive tension until someone eventually snaps and everything comes out all at once." Sophie predicted with a frown. "Getting all the beefs and who said what about who out in the open would either tear the club apart or bring it together for good... it's a risk but it's better than the alternative I think. The alternative being letting everything simmer until it's too late and the club that your brother built... your older sister's legacy..." Sophie sent Anna a sad smile at this. It would be a damn shame if that was the case. "It would be pretty awful if that was ruined because of one article in the school paper."

"Please I'm not bothered about the article. I'm annoyed at the gall of that girl to insult me," Aphrodite huffed.

"Well you did call her bad sister to the whole school," Rafe pointed out.

"And tell me do you think I'm wrong? I have a younger brother and I had an older one. I'm right in the middle and have dealt with a lot of things with the two of them."

"I know. I'm not saying you're wrong, and am actually surprised you dubbed it down so much, then again too much could have gotten her and him in trouble... I go through a lot with my sister too, and my brother. Actually Tyson I'm surprised you let Nate into the sports branch after Olive kicked him out of cooking. If he had come to me I would have reject him. He has the talent but he has too much going on inside of his mind and doesn't release it. Until he deals with his past he won't truly be ready. Then again since he is a musician, I guess being part of sports doesn't matter..." he trailed off, looking over towards Sophie, Anna, and Felix. "If we're lucky she'll understand the issue here."

"Oh...lord...not good, not good at all." Melissa added as she saw Nathan. "Please be dreaming, please be dreaming...." She muttered to herself with the male next to her just staring at her. "Why couldn't this be a dream....oh why...." She sighed also making sure that no one was around her.

"Do you guys know each other?" Her blonde cousin asked looking at Nathan before turning his gaze to Melissa.

Melissa sighed "Sadly yes...I went to school with this guy and he should kind of be at school...don't tell me you guys want me back or something? Because that is not going to happen. I've been told you guys included a lot of people that can't hold a light to me," Melissa stared at Nathan, stared him down. "Because I have no idea why you would be here?" She added with a "And yes I'm making progress..."

"She's in the team going to the junior champs before the Commonwealth Games." Her cousin added.

At Melissa's words about not coming back and how he would have no success bringing her back, Nathan chuckled. He hadn't forgotten about Melissa's ego, but it made him smile now due to the fact that he could tell her that he wasn't there to bring her back. "That's fantastic by the way." He said about her latest achievement with an earnest smile before turning to Melissa's cousin. "As she said, I went to school with her back in the states. Nathan Asher, pleasure." He held out his hand to the boy before addressing Melissa's concerns. "And don't worry, I'm not here to bring you back, honest." He stated truthfully. "I'm just doing a bit of travelling, taking a bit of a break from school. Spent time in LA, Seattle and then I decided to hit Sydney. I've never been so I figured I could see some place new."

"Err yeah pleasure..." Her cousin shook his hand, "I think this guy is posh," he whispered to Melissa who nodded in agreement.

"Travelling? Oh don't tell me you ditched school because you have gone all mopey and shit again?" Melissa sighed knowing Nathan enough to assume the worst which was pretty normal for her in that assumption.

"Okay I love to sit and watch but we need to go especially because I'm headed off the Sri Lanka soon and you are headed to America next week as well to get ready and train," Shane added as he pointed to the taxi. "Why don't you join us, Nathan?" He looked at Nathan with Melissa in the background sighing, not really happy at all. "We'll drop you off at a hotel and you and Melissa can chat."

Nate smiled at Mel's assumption that he was travelling because he was acting all emo yet again. While that had been true at first, roaming the West Coast with nothing but his guitars had changed something in him and for the first time he found himself truly enjoying life for what it was. "Well at first that was the case..." He said quietly. "But now... now I'm travelling because I'm enjoying the journey." He told her with an earnest grin. "I'm happier now than I've been in a long time..." Realizing that the guy Mel was with had suggested something about being dropped off at a hotel, he nodded. "That would be great thank you. Whatever's nearest to here is fine." He didn't mind at the moment because he hadn't thought to look up places to stay while getting off the airplane. He'd figure that particular issue out later.

They were dropped off the hotel where they sat there for a while. "I don't believe you, I really don't. You have done nothing to suggest that I should believe that you found a happy spot at all. If the going gets tough, you wuss out because you can't handle anything that happens to you," She stared him down kind just telling him how it is.

"I should leave, here are the keys...." Shane tossed his keys straight to Melissa who caught and mouthed a thank you.

"Look you basically ditched everyone including your girlfriend, how she hasn't dumped your ass is beyond me. Yes I have friends back in school and they tell me shit, you have everything going for you. You have wealth, a father that played professional basketball and a county club? And what do I have? Nothing I have to work for my goals and everything I want, I don't have wealth to rely on. I have to work for money and stuff but you get everything easy and what do you do? complain, bitch and whine. You are pathetic, and if I was there and I found out that you ditched your team I would kick your ass. It is disgraceful that someone with everything going for him has to be little wuss." Melissa coldly exclaimed right in Nathan's face.

"Oh wow life is hard for you, so yo turn to drugs and drinks. Man that's a wuss right there but I'm glad that I know I can fight, I can work my behind off to become a better person." She looked at him. "You are making it harder and harder to even like you anymore. You are simply a coward, a deadset coward and you know what I'm done with you. You are going to be like Melissa is yelling at me for no reason, everything I said will sail over your head and you'll be the same. I bet right now once I leave you'll turn to a cigarette or something, so why should anyone bother, why should I bother? Go to hell..." She was about to slap him across the face but stopped, "You don't even deserve a slap, you pathetic piece of shit."

Melissa walked off to stand outside waiting for a taxi.

Nate just let Melissa yell. If they were back at school, back where things actually mattered a bit, he would have felt the need to say or do something, anything, to make her stop... to make sure that she didn't cause a scene. But not here, not halfway across the world where no one outside of the girl screaming at him knew his name or anything about him. In fact, he had to stifle a dry chuckle at the fact that only he could go halfway across the world and still get someone screaming at him. There was a part of him that felt the need to retort, to bring up the simple fact that money wasn't everything. But he just didn't feel the need.

He turned and walked away, quite sure that he'd never see Melissa again. Which made it so there was really no need to try and make her see his point of view. After all, he could state a position with the eloquence of Shakespeare but that wouldn't get through her stubborn nature anyways. Plus, he wanted to see Sydney on his own and what better way to do that than walking through the city. So with a slight smile and a spring in his step Nathan went off to explore the sights half a world away with nothing but his guitar and the clothes on his back.

"I can't believe this," Melissa shook her head as she watched Nathan walk out of the hotel. "You little grub, I knew he wouldn't listen." She walked up to Nathan and then walked up to him and sighed "Why do you make it difficult? Why do you make it tough on people because you aren't willing to talk or that you are willing to escape because you can't handle anything. If you were on this change then surely you would have called everyone and told him....and you would have left straight away and something. You gave me no reason to believe you. You'll tell me that money doesn't mean anything but it sure the hell means a lot considering you use a lot of it all the time." the Brunette stared him done.

"Why do you make it tough on everyone? Are you that selfish that you don't care that you left the school, your club mates and girlfriend?" Melissa looked at him, "You really need to go back and talk to them because you being here isn't working for them. You know they did an article about club and you weren't painted in a great picture...how does that make Erika feel?" She asked. "That her boyfriend doesn't leaves and doesn't try to talk to her. Why is that?"

"Wa-" Will tried to protest, before getting dragged along.

Alice sat down with everyone else.

"Um... Sorry I missed club so much guys..."Alice apologized. "My dad got pretty sick for awhile, and I didn't have much time for anything else but him and school. But he's better now, so I'll be sure to stop at club after school today."

Nate raised an eyebrow. "The only people in that club who really care about me are my sister and Erika." He said bluntly. "And both of them understand that I needed space to work through some of those deep set issues that we all know I have." An honest admission. "The funny thing about all this was that I had worked everything out and I was just taking a couple more days before heading home... I ended up coming to Sydney on a whim because I'd never been here before but now I'm starting to regret that choice." A dry chuckle escaped his lips. "And I'm sure I got skewered in that article given who likely gave their opinions and who I'm assuming wrote the thing... I don't care what anyone in that club thinks of me outside of Erika and my sister." He added for her benefit. "Look Mel, as much as you like to think it, I'm not stupid." He shrugged, looking out at the city he wasn't going to get to see this time, or anytime soon for that matter.

"I can't believe I'm even going to try and say this, but at least listen to me." Nathan sighed. There was a part of him that realized that Melissa wouldn't stop badgering him until he at least gifted her some sort of an explanation. "Things were rocky between myself and Erika... let's just say things had gotten awfully chilly between the two of us." He admitted. "You see, I had promised her that I'd quit smoking... you know, as a Christmas present or something... and if you've never had a nicotine dependency you can't know just how hard it is to quit... it's just... your entire mood changes... you feel sick, nauseous... headaches. Your hands shake uncontrollably... and that's not a good thing when you're a guitarist." He sighed, staring off into space. "I really meant to quit for her but I did slip up after about six weeks of being good. There's been a lot of drama and infighting with the club lately and it was one of those days and I just sorta... the cravings overtook the willpower once."

"And once was all it took. Erika caught me redhanded." Another sigh. "And then things got cold... she didn't seem to forgive me and it was just... I mean you know how I was, how I am with Erika in that regard. It hurt, it stung... it was just so painful. I mean Sophie tried to talk me out of it but sometimes there's nothing that anyone but myself could do." He turned back to look at Mel. "You've said your piece and hell maybe some of those things were true when I left..." At this he smiled. "And again, I know you didn't believe me when I said this a few minutes ago, but I'm a lot better now. Better than I've been in a long time." He stated once again. "I spent the last few weeks doing nothing but playing my music for people... you know, open mics, bars, clubs... and it's like... I just have this feeling that doing that... making people happy with performing... I tried to deny it, tried to run away from it... but really that's what I'm supposed to be doing." Nathan finally came out and said it.

"It was nice to roam and play those little shows because I could play, make people's nights and then vanish off into the night... I didn't have to deal with any of the nonsense that usually comes with being a musician." He quipped. "And you're right about one thing. It was wrong of me to continue my trip after I had my little epiphany. It was rather selfish of me..." Nathan actually... sounded a bit ashamed at this. "And perhaps it took you saying it so clearly to point it out to me."

"Good morning Ms. Ilia," Lucina greeted as they entered their first class, english.

"Morning Will, morning Lucina," she returned the greeting. Both were exceptional students and thus Sicilia quite enjoyed having them. "Maybe a strange question but are you two dating?"

"No why?"

"No reason."

Lucina gave Willa confused look, asking if he understood.

``````````````````````
"Morning. Welcome back Alice. Is everything okay?" Zima greeted walking up with Danny, who seemed to be nursing a bruise on his chin.
"Yeah, my dad was sick, but he's getting better." Alice replied. "I saw the article... Am I really that dependable?" She asked.
Will turned a violent shade of red. "That's none of your concern! And no we are not!" He shouted, starting to get flustered.
Melissa heard him out and then simply pointed out, "You can go overseas and play for people, that's using your money. You have a girlfriend and just because she doesn't forgive you...you decide to go and escape her? How does that work? It doesn't work at all, not at all." Melissa pointed out. "You can have a relationship with people, I can't because I have a career, I can't see my parents because they sacrificed so much to see me chase my dreams. We are nowhere close to rich and the fact that I have to work hard for everything because my parents did that for me is a goal, is something I thank them so much but not giving up when the going gets tough."
"Do you know how much my dreams costs? A lot and you think people don't care about you other than the girlfriend and your sister? At least you can see your sister frequently. My brother is in college back in the States and it is hard to have a conversation with him. I have a career that doesn't last long because one major injury and I'm done, you got your music but I don't have that. You think your life is hard? Try walking a mile in anyone's shoes because we have it worse that some little selfish prick that is scared of taking responsibility. It isn't just ditching the club right now. It is ditching when we had the kids in the club and you were told to me a leader but you ditched it, you were trusted by Jordan and I had to do it. You don't realize how much people care and how much problems you caused people, you are a child and I'm going to say this because I doubt you'll listen to what I'm saying...." Melissa sighed, "You can go to hell because I would love to be in your situation in life...anyone would but you are just wasting your life way by drinking, drugs and stuff, you are wasting your life."
Melissa finished off by saying, "If you want people to believe you changed maybe you should show them because you ruined everyone's trust in you. I don't even trust you, I hope you listen to what I'm saying otherwise you can go to hell because your explanation paints you in a worse light. You should trying telling yourself that....but..." She smiled "It is nice to see you and tell everyone that I'll be swimming near the city for the junior champs....you better go back though..." Melissa didn't even look at him anymore, she couldn't stand to look at him as a person, so she got her taxi and went back to home.
"Well you do what is asked of you without question," Zima shrugged as she sat down. "And I'm glad your father is better."
"So...I doubt you two enjoyed the article, but Anna did you like it?" Danny asked.
```````````````
"Okay then...excuse me..." Sicilia said shaking her head as she left the room. Why students held hands if they weren't dating was beyond her. However she had more important matters on hand. Walking into a certain room she leaned down by a certain man and gave him a kiss on the lips. "Hey. I haven't seen your for a few days," she told him.

As he had expected, Melissa didn't get it. He hadn't expected to reach any point of understanding with her, so he was a bit relived when she finally left. He didn't need such negativity running through his mind when he got home because he knew he was going to be getting a lot of it from Erika and Sophie when he did get home. With a deep sigh, he turned around and strolled right back into the airport.

It took him a few minutes to book his flights. Fourteen hours back to LAX. Another six back to JFK. And then the drive home. It would be quite a trip. And combined with the fourteen hour flight he had just gotten off of... the jet lag would hit him like a tractor trailer. Nathan was in for a few very sleepless nights, but that wasn't much of a change from the usual so it was only a minor concern.

Not knowing what else to do, he picked up the phone and called Sophie.

Sophie saw who was calling and stood up like a rocket. "Nate!" She shouted, not caring who heard. "Where are you! How are you!"

"A little tired, a little hungry and a little jetlagged... but I'm good sis." Nathan replied and Sophie looked incredibly relieved.

"Nathan... where are you..." Sophie pressed.

"Sydney International Airport." Nathan answered and Sophie gasped. There had been many answers she was expecting, but that wasn't one of them. "Listen, feel free to tell Erika that I'll be in school... ummm... I'm shitty with timezones... what's today's date over where you are?"

Sophie looked down at her diamond watch. "The 31st. Of January. It's about nine in the morning."

Nathan did the mental math in his head. He'd be home in about twenty-two hours. Enough time to make it to school tomorrow. Well tomorrow in the states. "Well I didn't miss Valentine's day at least... a small concession." He mused, inadvertently admitting that he had completely lost track of time. 'Listen, I gotta run since I'm boarding a flight in a couple of minutes. If you see Erika, tell her I'll be in school tomorrow morning." He mused.

"Nate..." Sophie was smiling now, her eyes betraying just how glad she was to hear that he was coming home. "I know I'm gonna yell at you a bit tomorrow and I'm sure that she's gonna do the same and a lot of people are gonna be real cross with you... but I missed you little bro. Love you." She said the last words in a soft whisper before hanging up.

Tyson turned to Rafe as he heard his comment regarding Nathan. He knew that Nathan carried a lot of baggage on him when he accepted him, but he had mostly done it because of where he came from. No, he wasn't afraid of stating that either, he was already known around the school as someone that always did things if it had something for him, though he was good in hiding these facts most of the time. "Well you know, he interested me," Tyson nodded his head and shrugged. "Saving one of the poor fools that gets dropped once every semester did put some extra attention on me and the branch, which works since we're planning the sports competition soon...frankly character is the last thing I truly care about."

***

"I thought it was an interesting article actually," Anna pointed out as she saw Zima and Danny join them along with Alice. "I didn't mind it really, it was actually kind of fun," she said with a smirk.

***

Freed was a bit surprised by Sicilia's presence but smiled nevertheless as she felt her lips on his. He smiled before kissing her again and standing up. "Hey yourself, and sorry, I've just had a lot of work piled on me lately," he chuckled a bit before looking back at the file he had been looking at it. "Looks like my nephew transferred into the school."

"Well I have been quite busy myself. Your nephew? I didn't know you had a sibling. Are you close with him, your nephew?" she asked, wrapping her arms around him and looking up at him.

`````````````````````````````
"Oh that's right you were labeled as a heartbreaker. Which is accurate," he said, slight contempt in his voice.
"Danny!" Zima scolded.
"What? It's the truth."
"What was that tone?"
"My usual one, or are you just noticing it?"
Zima frowned at her brother but gave up nevertheless. She figured it best to continue their conversation at home.
````````````````````

"Well character affects performance, and until Nate is true to his character, then he won't be ready for the branch. Of course I can't decide that after this year."

"Go away, Zane." Erika replied to the boy, an unamused frown on her face. She quickly glanced around before noticing Zima and a few other familiar faces sitting at a nearby table. Sophie quickly stood up and recieved a phone call. Looking for an excuse to get away, Erika picked up her water bottle. "But alas... I'm off. See you later Faye." She added, sitting up from her seat and slung her messenger bag on her shoulder. Walking over to the other table, she simply greeted them with, "Hey guys."

Zane watched as she quickly escaped. "Wow, she really hates me." He commented with a slight chuckle, looking over at Faye. "So am I still good for a ride today?" Faye glanced back at him, rubbing the back of her head.

"Sure. Art club finishes around the same time you do."
