Erika watched Nathan in pure shock; she had never seen him filled with such anger before. Speechlessly watching him retrieve his items, Erika remained still and let him leave. It took her a second to finally realize what had just happened, so when it finally hit her, she ran over to the door and opened it. "Wait!" She called out into the hallway, desperately looking for any sign of him. "Nathan!" After hearing no response, she lifelessly walked back into the room. Her eyes narrowed with anger as she walked back to where she previously stood, her glare then being directed at Olive. She said nothing and waited for her response.

Olive understood Nathan’s anger, which is why she just stared at him back, knowing that if she turned her gaze away she would just look even worse. She knew that it wasn’t right to kick one of them out, but she also thought that Erika had a lot of potential as a cook, she was just recovering too.

Yeah, it was the right choice, in her mind at least. She looked at both of their dishes before proceeding to taste them quietly, not looking at Erika or anyone else. “He would’ve lost anyway,” she pointed out quietly before looking at Erika. “It’s not perfect, but I can tell you clearly put a lot of work into it, you’ve got a lot of skill,” she said before whispering something to her. “Meet me once the test is over, I’ve got something to tell you…in regards to Nathan, but I can’t say it in public.”

Jordan was able to complete the soccer game without any trouble, though he mostly kept himself to defense so as to not tire himself too much. In the end he and Jake had been able to clear the soccer game without a hitch and had moved up to Basketball which they were in at the moment.

“Come on!” Jordan yelled, stepping back as he was blocked by two other students from the opposing team. He gritted his teeth in frustration. Since the start of the game he had already been able to feel some fatigue and in trying to keep himself from tiring out he had made a few mistakes.

“Pass it here!” Jake yelled, running past him and the students blocking him. Jordan nodded his head and stepped back before spinning around and going around the two people blocking him so that he could pass the ball to Jake.

He grabbed a hold of the neck of the sweatshirt he had been wearing to wipe some sweat from his forehead, only to hear the sound of the whistle that marked the game’s end. “Crap, I got too distracted in this game,” he sighed to himself, at least we had heat, playing soccer in the cold was a bitch.”

“You have track now don’t you?” Jake pointed out as he walked over to himself. “I have baseball myself, but are you sure you’ll be able to do it?”

“It’s just running and some hurdles, I’ll be fine,” Jordan laughed as he tugged onto his pendant. “It’s not the first time I do it.”

As he walked out of the field he noticed that Tyson was sitting on the bleachers a smirked on his face as he looked down at Jordan. “That was a good day, though you should keep your cool more Mr. Leader.”

“Leave me alone.”

“I heard that one of your friends got kicked out,” at hearing this Jordan’s eyes opened wide, he looking up and glaring at Tyson. “Me and the rest of the Stars keep ourselves in check about any important events that might go on, Olive just told me how she had to make the tough call between Erika and Nathan, I liked that kid too…but don’t worry, just enjoy yourself.”

Jordan didn’t say anything; instead he kept walking as his mind pondered on what Tyson had said. Between Erika and Nathan, who was the one that got kicked out? And what would that mean for the Assist Club.

Erika's mind was obviously elsewhere, and what Olive had to say simply went in one ear and out the other. She would have normally been happy to win, but with the circumstances of the situation, all she could feel was anger and grief. "Thank you." She muttered, her eyes constantly glancing towards the door. She remained quiet to listen to what Olive was whispering to her. She was to meet her after the test. "Yes, I will." With that, she walked back to where she previously was and waited or the test to end.

"Thank you." Alice smiled meekly. "I worked hard on it, and I'm glad it shows."

Alice stared at the painting. "To be honest." She thought aloud. "Back when my mom was alive, she used to read to me stories. I remember I'd always hug a teddy bear that she gave me and listen to every word. I remember her voice sounded so gentle, and when she was done. She'd kiss me good night, and say 'I love you'."

She then turned back to Leo. "I guess this painting is sort of a monument to the happy memories my mom gave me. I know she isn't here any more, but I'm sure she's looking down on from heaven or something like that. I can't help but always wonder... If she's proud of what I accomplished."

Alice giggled. "Sorry, I shouldn't have droned on like that. I'm probably boring you."

Neil was done, he had passed and was happy. Now he walked around the room briefly, all projects were either not good enough to care about or so good that he had heard about them before, so Neil decided to pack up his things and walk back to the Assist Club where he would wait for the rest of the club to finish and return to talk about how everything went.

When Neil arrived at the club room he completely missed Nathan and went on putting his stuff down. Neil then turned and noticed Nathan. "Ah Nathan you're back early," Neil said at first, believing he had passed, but then he noticed him packing his things. "Hey man what's going on?"

The rest of Jordan’s test proceeded to go, mostly smoothly. In Track he was able to keep himself focused throughout the race and came in first amongst the third year males. Unfortunately all of the previous sports began to catch up with him in swimming when his legs began to drag him behind, causing him to push himself even more in order to finish the course.

“Gah!” Jordan panted as he got out of the pool, groaning as he rubbed his left leg. “Only boxing left,” he said before taking in a deep breath. He noticed some of the girls from the sports Branch were looking at him and smiling and he was immediately brought back to the events of lunch with Zima. “I gotta talk to her after this,” he sighed to himself before wrapping a towel around his neck. “Probably should talk to Rika and Nate too.”

***

Leo nodded his head as he listened to Alice’s explanation, taking the moment to detail the paining more before he pocketed his hands and looked at Alice. “No it’s okay, every painting has its inspiration after all,” he replied while smiling at Alice. “Good work, I think you’re passing grade is pretty much assured.”

With that Leo waved at Alice as he walked away in order to look at the other exhibits, eventually ending up by Zima’s. “Hello there Ms. Midorikawa,” he replied and looked down at the book before taking a look at it.

He was actually amazed at how well and realistic she had drawn the book, reminding him of other classical children books that he had seen before. “Wow, I didn’t think you’d be able to pull this off this perfectly,” he said and smiled. “I almost wish I was a kid again so my mom could read me this story.”

***

After the cooking test had ended and everyone but Olive and Erika were gone Olive took her chance to walk over to Erika. “I’m sorry about what happened first of all,” she said while looking at her junior. “I think that you have a lot of potential, having your boyfriend in the same Branch with you could’ve hindered that, plus even if Nathan had passed the test this time around I’m not sure he could’ve passed the one for the next semester.”

“But, and this is something that should be kept quiet, there’s actually a way for him to stay at this school,” she explained while looking at Erika attentively. “This has happened before, but students usually find out in their own way and are told to keep it secret. The truth is that a student that has been kicked out can enter a different Branch, all they need is to have the consent of the principal, the current Star that looks over that Branch and to pass a test that proves they’re capable to be part of said Branch.”

Alice sighed with relief.

I'm glad that I could pass. Are you proud of me Mom? Alice thought. Thanks for your support.

Alice then proceeded to wander around the art galleries until she happened upon Zima's.

"Hi, Zima!" She waved from across the gallery before running over. "Long time, no see!"

Zima chuckled at Leo's response. "You know no one is ever too old for a children's book and I'm sure that some mothers still enjoy reading to their children," she commented, though she felt a pang of sadness at the thought. Her own mother had never done such a thing for her and Danny. Their aunt by the time they finally got to meet her, could not as the two were "too old" for that kind of thing, and her father well he was busy all the time. She snapped out of her thoughts on Alice walking in. "Hello Alice," she greeted her.

Erika listened to what Olive was saying to her, the scowl on her lips slowly fading away. "Don't you think you could have done it in a more kind way? I don't think that was exactly fair." She began to tell her, an indifferent expression on her face. After hearing what Olive had to say, she instantly smiled, a bit of hope overtook her body.

"Really now? He could join the Performing Arts branch." Erika thought out loud, tapping her chin in thought. "Though, it doesn't change what you did. What would have happened if Nathan didn't walk away, if I didn't win? He would still be unhappy in Culinary Arts and I would have gotten the boot. Where would I even go? I'm not good at any of the other Branches!" She found her voice rising with each word.

"What was the purpose of this competition? One unlucky match up and someone's dreams would be crushed?! What is the idea behind this? Especially with me. You say I have potential, and I appreciate that, but imagine if I did lose. Imagine that 'potential' going away! This isn't just about Nathan and me, this is about everyone in our Branch!" Erika yelled at her, her anger quickly rising.

"I know so many people who love to cook. One of these people being a good friend of mine. Heh, thank God she did well today! Her dream is to open a bakery. Good thing those dreams weren't ruined due to one small mistake! Sure, this wasn't Nathan's dream, but the fact that he still thinks he's kicked out of this school...! I...! Can you imagine how he feels right now?! Probably feels like shit, that's how I would feel! So many people dream of doing this for their jobs, their lives... and one unlucky match up could ruin that? Do you realize how horrible that is?!" Quickly shaking her head, she crossed her arms and sighed.

"Thank you for telling me about Nathan and thank you for letting me stay here. Sorry about my outburst, I just needed to let you know how I really felt about all of this. I....I'll be taking my leave now." With these final words, Erika left Olive without a second glance and headed towards the club room.

The first sport for the girls was football which was actually made easier due to the pitch having some care about it. Melissa normally worked around the midfield trying to facilitate and help out on set pieces while trying to make sure that the strikers were in the best position to score. When she played football she barely scored at all feeling that her job was to create scoring opportunities than actually scoring. It was an easy pass for both girls and they weren't satisfied especially Melissa because there was another four sports to go. The next sport was hockey which was something that the girls excelled at as well because it was something that they played. It was just one on one and then work out from there, they had basically used their team playbook to help them succeed.

The next sport was tennis which was something Melissa played a lot with her family during vacation, holidays and picnics which was something she had been thought as well by her aunt when she visited them on her vacation. It was a lot trickier for Melissa because she didn't really have that much going for her in that sport except a lot of running. She was at best a counterpuncher with a wicked forehand but that was it. Her serve had a lot of spin but didn't offer much in speed. She had felt though that her net game was kind of letting her down in a way. Melissa wanted to sort that out later but she did enough to get the pass and the permission to move on.

The next sport for Melissa was track which was Emma's domain. She was bloody quick, one of the fastest that Melissa had ever seen. Melissa on the other hand was quick but nothing like someone who was actually a great sprinter. She was at best a decent sprinter which worked in her favour. She finished her 100 meter sprint in 13.1 compared to Emma was just slower than the high school average of 12.4 which was kind a fair distance ahead of Melissa and a few other girls. However both girls did pass and it was finally the last sport, the last sport which was swimming. That was Melissa's domain, she was the self-titled queen of the pool and no one could beat her (minus a few guys) but she was the Queen of the pool. She decided to try and slaughter the school record but it would be at the risk of injury and plus she wouldn't have been able to due to fatigue and a lack of a warmup to allow her to go as fast as possible.

Melissa just phoned it and easily completed the 100m freestyle along with her friends but at the same ease. All 5 sports were completed and now the girls were relaxing and chatting around while happy that they had no issues with the branch exams. Now it was just about relaxing but Melissa didn't really want to go to the clubroom rather that she would spend time with her friends but then again she told them that "You know I'm going to chillax at the club, yeah. We will just sit and watch movies tomorrow night." Melissa told Emma and Mindy before she walked up to the club room.

She could see that it was quiet, there weren't many there. Melissa didn't look at who was there but it seemed empty. Melissa just sat down and started to watch some football on her phone with the headphones on trying to help her body rest.

After packing his things, Nathan noticed the arrivals of Neil and Mel. Sighing, he went into his guitar case and pulled out a bottle of vodka and three glasses. "Well I suppose I should just come out and say it." He said quietly as he poured out a large quantity of the vodka into each glass. "Olive put me up against Erika in a cooking head-to-head, loser gets kicked out of the branch and the school." He stated bluntly. "I told Olive exactly what I thought of that and stormed out... so I guess this is a goodbye of sorts." He said quietly, taking one glass for himself and sliding the other two to Neil and Mel. "I don't want to drink alone you know." He quipped.

"You can hate me if you want, your frustration is certainly justified considering what happened," Olive said as Erika began to walk away, she leaning against one of the counters in the room. "But sadly, that's how the world of cooking can be, one wrong match up, one wrong move and your whole career ends, it happened to my parents and a lot of other chefs," she said as she looked over at Erika. "I don't feel completely satisfied with what I did, but if you're mad at me for what happened to Nathan then keep working hard to shut me up," she smiled as she saw her walk away. "She's a good girl."

***

"Well, you're both lucky to have passed," Leo pointed out to Alice and Zima and smiled. "I'll be paying attetion to the two of you...though there is someone else, I'm sure you'll meet him soon enough," he shrugged and began to walk off.

Jordan's fifth and final sport was boxing, it was a simple match against another student, unfortunately his fatigue had taken a bigger hold of him coupled with his troubled thoughts so he had some trouble during the match. He was able to win in the end though, occidentally causing his opponent to fall unconscious as he did.

"Good match," Jordan panted as he rested against a wall, only to look up and see Anna standing and smiling above him. "I was done with my test so I wanted to see how you were doing, you seemed distracted though."

"I'm okay," Jordan nodded his head before taking a drink from his water bottle and getting up. "I'm pretty sure I'm passed which is what counts, but there are a lot of things bothering me," he said as he looked at Anna with a serious expression. "I heard that either Nathan or Erika got kicked out."

"What?" Anna gasped in shock when she heard this.

"Yeah, we should head to the clubroom right away," he nodded his head before he and Anna began making their way to the clubroom.

Making her way back to the club room, Erika noticed that Neil, Mel and Nathan were all inside with vodka of some sort. Taking a deep breath, she walked inside and awkwardly waved at everyone. "Hi guys."

Alice giggled. "Can you believe it Zima? The head of the art branch is actually impressed with our work! It's great to see all of our hard work pay off! It makes me want to try really harder, so I can show I'm not some sort of one-painting-wonder artist. Anyway, why don't we head to the club room? It's been awhile since I was able to see everyone."

"Oh my god I heard one of you two got kicked out!" was Jordan's immediate statement as soon as he and Anna reached the room, the girl panting after Jordan had forced him to run alongside him to the room.

Nathan just raised his glass of vodka to Jordan and nodded. "It appears as if I'll be London calling after winter break." He muttered, referring to the fact he'd probably end up going back to school overseas.

Erika let out a loud scream as soon as Jordan burst into the room, his sudden yelling catching her off guard. "Jordan! That's not exactly the best way to greet people." With a frown present on her face, she looked over to Nathan. "Actually, there's something Olive told me about that..."

"Are you serious?" Jordan frowned, frustrated that Nathan had been kicked out, though really it would've been with either of them. He couldn't believe it though, since both Erika and Nathan were really great cooks, and yet the thing that made this happen was Olive's own pick. "There has to be something we can do though."

Zima just simply smiled, not exactly feeling the excitement like Alice. She had easily passed the test the previous two years. Last year she had even met the previous star with them being very impressed with her work then. By now it was nothing new to her. She however knew that it was for Alice. Though she was curious about who Leo was talking about. "That's wonderful. Well then let's go," she told the girl, starting to walk towards the room, surprised to see a certain red head waiting for them. "Danny?"

"I was finished so I thought I would see if you were. Headed to the room?"

"Yup. Care to join us?"

"It would be my honor," he joked, bowing before walking beside his sister.

Melissa with her headphones on just smiled and nodded to what Nathan said. She didn't really care or actually heard what he said, if anything she just put the volume on louder. Melissa could see that Nathan offered her a drink, she used her hand to say no. Then she could hear yelling as Jordan walked into the room but the brunette decided to lower the volume and just eavesdrop if anything. From what she gathered by listening is that Nathan got kicked out and Erika was upset about it. She didn't really want to hear the story because it didn't concern her at all and with that in mind Melissa put her volume on louder as she continued to watch the football.
