Welcome! You have been accepted into the University of Pokemon, Kanto, home of the Ebullient Eevees (no, don't feel bad...not many of our students have heard that word before, either. A definition has been provided)! This prestigious university, located in the scenic Seafoam Islands, is one of the best in the world -- only the best and brightest students come here! It is also a part of a larger system, commonly referred to as simply the "University of Pokemon" system, which has campuses in all four major regions as well as the Orange Islands, the Sevii Islands, Orre, and Fiore. There is a mutual friendly rivalry among all the schools, complete with ever-changing alliances and long-time rivalries.

Within the university, there are separate colleges*, each pertaining to a specific field of study. These colleges are the College of Pokemon Battling (CPBt), the College of Pokemon Breeding (CPBr), the College of Pokemon Contests (CPC), the College of Pokemon Sciences (CPS), and the College of Pokemon Arts and Social Sciences (CPASS). Each college has it's own mascot in conjunction with the university's Eevee: Flareon for CPBt, Leafeon for CPC, Espeon for CPS, Glaceon for CPBr, and Vaporeon for CPASS. Each UP (a common abreviation for University of Pokemon) has a specialty, something they are widely known for excelling in. UPK (University of Pokemon, Kanto) is known for having some of the best Pokemon Science programs in the world, whereas UPH, Kanto's biggest rival, has some of the best Battling programs, and is well-known for producing exceptionally strong battlers consistently.

A person can choose to major in a wide range of subjects. Within each major is a separate list of required courses that they must take in addition to their G.E.* requirements. Please note that the majors are fairly broad, but do not encompass the entire college. For example, Pokemon Biology, Strategy, and Pokemon Fashion Design are all majors, but one cannot say that their major is "Pokemon Science," "Pokemon Battling," or "Pokemon Contests."

At the end of each year is a huge competition between all eight UP campuses. This competition includes a battling tournament, a contest, a "Breeding show"** , and a "Pokemon Science Olympiad"*** competition. Only a select few students are chosen to represent their school and compete in these events, and to be chosen is a true honor. Therefore, every student tries their best to stand out and get noticed by their teachers, and hopefully become chosen to compete. You are one of these students, and it is the start of your first year at UPK. Time to try and make your school proud!

Here are a few general rules:

1. Basic RPG rules -- no spamming, flaming, etc. If it is mild, I will usually let you off with a warning, but the one thing I will NOT tolerate under any circumstances is godmoding. READ THIS DEFINITION. Don't make your character, a first year student, a prodigal battler, or automatically an expert in Pokemon Chemistry, or whatever. You came to this school to learn, not to demonstrate that you're already perfect. It is perfectly acceptable, for example, to say you character's parents are breeders, and that your character grew up at a Day Care Center. It is NOT acceptable to say that, because of this, they have already become a master breeder, and are already starting to earn a reputation. They may have experience, and are expected to have some background knowledge of their field, but they are, in essence, a beginner. Also, controlling other people's characters -- and, by extension, their pokemon -- is considered godmoding. Stating something like "Gyarados' Hyper Beam connected, instantly knocking out it's opponent" is a no. Godmoders will get one warning before either myself of Pale Bones will ask them to leave the RPG. I've provided a definition and given an example -- there's no reason for you to not know what godmoding is or to recognize if what you're submitting qualifies as godmoding.

2. Here's another definition for you all: Deus ex machina. In terms of this RPG, this is going to relate mostly to pokemon battles. An example would be a pokemon taking repeated high-powered hits, but because it's "special" in some way (ie. a mutation in it's genetic code, a "special bond" with it's trainer, etc.), it takes little to no damage. Another example would be a pokemon that always manages to barely dodge it's opponent's attacks and get off a "lucky shot" which KOs it's opponent. The basic point? No deus ex machina, kiddos.

3. There are to be NO battles outside of classes. Please try and limit battles in classes to -- at the absolute maximum -- four posts each for each round (ex. a two on two battle would be four posts each for the first two pokemon, and then another four posts each for the second ones). A student may keep six pokemon on them at all times, just as they would if they were traveling, but have 24/7 access to a PC in which they may exchange their pokemon.

4. To keep things somewhat organized and not have too many people going off and doing different things all at once, the limit of people to join this RPG is six, including myself and Pale Bones. He and I will also have control over many of the teachers and referees for the battles. Please keep the number of non-faculty NPCs to a minimum -- no adding extra characters. It's fine to mention that you're meeting up with your friend [insert name here] from Bio, and maybe have them in a post or two, but don't make them a regular character. The exception is roommates, but even then, try not to bring their character out of the room too much.

5. Note that Pale Bones is my co-GM for this RPG -- anything he says, you listen to.

6. For convenience's sake, please make your character already in Kanto when you post their introduction later. They can be from wherever you want -- I'm just trying to streamline things a bit so that we don't have some people still journeying to the university while others are already there.

7. Use good grammar. This is another thing I'm going to be a stickler for -- no leetspeak, keep your tenses in line, and for god's sake, learn the difference between "your" and "you're." You're writing with a group of other people, and showing off your own work. The least you can do is make yourself understandable, and show that you care about your writing.

8. Your posts should be at least a paragraph long -- about five sentences. The only exception would be when your character is having a conversation with another character, and even then, don't just put up one-liners.

NOTE: The term 'colleges' does NOT refer to them being completely different institutions. They are more like categories into which the classes and majors may be sorted. A person who is a major in Pokemon Biology, for example, would be a part of the College of Pokemon Sciences, but they still use the same campus and go to the same classes as someone who is a major in Strategy, and therefore a member of the College of Pokemon Battling. Members of the different colleges have different General Education (G.E.) requirements tailored to the specific kind of degree they are working for. We won't worry about those, however -- just the more 'interesting' classes. Dorms are not segregated by college, though members of the same college with similar majors will often get placed in the same hall. Rooms are same-gender only, but halls are not, with the exception of two (one for boys and one for girls) that can only be specially requested. Also, note that college doesn't have schoolwide bells signaling people to go to their next class. There is a clock tower in the middle of this campus that chimes the hours, but it is usually very faint inside the classrooms. If you are familiar with the American University system, specifically the University of California schools, you will know what I'm basing these off of.

**
In which aspiring breeders show off the pokemon they've raised and are judged -- think like a real world dog show.

***
This is a massive event, encompassing all areas of pokemon science. Each campus has two 'teams' -- a Varsity and Junior Varsity (J.V.) team, each of about 10-15 people -- which compete. There are a wide ranges of skills that are tested, and the tests themselves range from very small-scale building projects, cases of deduction (especially with diseases), geography, geology, botany, chemical experiments, and even a test to see how well two people can understand each other and create a valid experiment (one partner writes out the experiment, then leaves while the other partner comes in and follows their instructions to actually carry out the experiment). Everyone, unless otherwise specified for the event, works with a partner from their team -- this means a maximum of four people from one University may compete in any one event: two from the Varsity team, and two for the J.V. team, and they work independently from each other (again, unless otherwise specified). The events are heavily monitored to prevent cheating, and are usually timed. While in-between events, each university's teams has a small 'common area' somewhere on the campus where the larger competition is being held. In here, they may talk, study, eat snacks, and generally hang out until it is time for them to go to their next event. Team lines are virtually non-existent, and there is often a great deal of under-the-radar (from the regulators, anyway) 'switching' between the teams if something comes up. The regulators don't really care who competes in the event, as long as only one pair is registered as the Varsity team, one as the J.V. team, and they don't make any attempts to cheat. For the building events, it is usually a group effort, and can be anything from building a flying device to a musical instrument. Further details will be given once we actually reach that point in the story.

Name: James “JT” Dalton
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Physical appearance:

James stands about 5’10’’ and has medium length light brown hair that is somewhat messy. James has ice blue eyes, but these are hidden most of the time by the designer sunglasses that he wears most of the time, even indoors. James has an athletic build, because he enjoys physical activity. James wears a variety of clothing, but he always dresses with style, most of the time wearing a brightly colored polo shirt and faded blue jeans. But he also has a black pinstripe suit and a black tuxedo with him that he will wear to formal events. Depending on the weather, James either wears a pair of white basketball shoes or worn leather sandals. James also wears a silver watch on his right wrist and a red string bracelet on his left.

Personality:
James has a very polished personality for his young age. He is courteous, charming, and respectful most of the time, as well as having very good control over his emotions. James also has a very sensible view of the world, and will usually think before acting. But James also has a tendency to look down on people if he sees them as inferior to himself. James is also somewhat impatient, and sometimes leads to James making a mistake by acting impulsively. James is not the most intelligent person academically, but he is very good at reading and manipulating people, a skill that he picked up from his father.

James likes the life of luxury that he has had the fortune of living. James also likes things that go fast, including fast cars, fast boats, and fast Pokémon.

James dislikes things he sees as “middle-class” as well as things that are not efficient enough for his liking. James also hates waiting in line for anything.

James has a very one track mind in terms of hobbies; he is first and foremost an athlete. Blessed with phenomenal hand-eye coordination, and incredible quickness both on land and in the water, James excels at pretty much any sport he attempts to play. James enjoys keeping himself fit, and he also bonds with his Pokémon because they join him on his runs or when he swims. James likes to use Pokémon that are fast as well as have powerful attacks.

James has access to many Pokémon, because his parents collect rare Pokémon. But James only uses his own Pokémon, which are his Lucario, Buizel, Scyther, Arcanine and Pidgeotto. James has a bit of experience battling, but most of his time is spent training in terms of physical fitness, so his Pokémon are strong and quick, but don’t have the most powerful attacks.

Major/Minor: A major in specialized Pokemon technology, with a minor in strategic battling.

History:

James was born in Hoenn and grew up in Lilycove City. James is the oldest child in the family. As a result of this, his father has been grooming him since he was young to take over the family company, which is a very successful business that specializes in computer technology. As a result of this, James’s family is very wealthy, and James is very spoiled. When he was eleven, James was sent to an elite academy that transformed him from an annoying spoiled kid into a mature young man. James has been an elite athlete from a young age, and has always competed at the highest levels in athletics.

James got his first Pokémon at the age of nine, a young Growlithe puppy. This has been a tradition in his family, to start each child out with their own Growlithe, and James is very close to his first Pokémon. Even upon its evolution into Arcanine when James was sixteen, James keeps his Arcanine, which he named Rocky, out of its Poké ball whenever possible.

James is going to the university to study battling because he has always watched the league championships on television, and he wants to compete in his native Hoenn league someday, before he settles down and takes over the family business.

Name: Allison Turner
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Physical Appearance: She's about 4' 7" height, has brown hair that curls up a lot, especially if it's hot weather or for another reason. She usually wears a blue shirt because that's her favorite color and it has a star on the front that's light blue. She usually wears blue jeans too plus some white socks and white sneakers. She wears a blue bracelet and a indigo watch.

Personality: She has a good personality at least until you get her angry. She can be a great companion and likes to do pokemon battles, she thinks contests are for people who don't have strong pokemon. She doesn't like losing to opponents especially when her pokemon has the type advantage.

Her pokemon are as follows Charizard, Blaziken, Infernape, Flareon, Arcanine, and an Electivire for in case oppoenets think she's all fire which is her favorite type of pokemon.

Major/Minor: Battle Stratagy

History: Allison grew up in Viridian City being the third child in the family she doesn't have any siblings that still live with her. She didn't have a good life so her only way to have fun was to cause mischef, break rules and get in trouble. She lived in the Kanto region and traveled a lot to see and catch some more fire type pokemon. Along the way she stole a Torchic from Professor Birch's lab when he was out studying wild pokemon and she didn't get caught by anyone. After the win in Hoenn Allison headed for Sinnoh and this time asked to have a fire type pokemon from Sinnoh so the professor gave Allison the troubesome Chimchar which then became a powerful Infernape by the time she entered the Sinnoh League. Along the way she captured an Elekid which evolved into an Electabuzz and after trading to some kis with a Magmar to get it to evolve into a Magmortar and traded back she got herself an Electivire and it came in habdy for battles against electric type trainers with it's Motor Drive ability

She did mature though and now wants to make friends and cause less trouble than she did back then. After being ten years of age and receiving her trainer's license she got a Charmander from Professor Oak. It was a challenge trying to beat certain gym leaders like Brock and Misty but she succeeded and won the pokemon league by raising different pokemon.

She decided to do the university so she can learn more about battle stratagie because she just focuses on attack power in battles.

Name: Ellery Ferrer
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Physical appearance:

Ellery hasa straight jet black hair that always sticks, you can drop him a bucket of water and his hair will stay like that (no seriously I'm basing this off of myself and it really doesn't do anything), he's pretty tall for an average 18 year old.

He wears a black short sleeve shirt that realy doesn't goes with his blue jeans which have chains on the sides. Ellery wears sunglasses on top of his head but he normally doesn't uses them unless he's trying to impress someone out.

Personality:

Ellery's a little optimistic (I don't even know what that means), he's also very cocky when it comes to things he likes but if it's something really important he becomes a whining nervouss wreck in a second.

Ellery likes to do things normally anything to fancy will make him angry if he doesn't get it himself that's why he doesn't take charity from anybody he really doesn't like people that accept charities or are always talkind about money itself.

Ellery has a good team of Pokemon: his trusted Charizard who's always at his side, Salamance, Lucario, Pidgeot, Vileplume, Eevee

Major/Minor: Battle, Science

History: Ellery has lived in Kanto all his lives so he knew about the university, mostly cause his brothe wouldn't stop annoying him about it. At first he didn't wanted to go cause his brother went there but the more he got older the more he saw how cool it'll be to go to one of them, Ellery likes battling but not just cause of his brogther he also went there cause he likes science he likes to battle but he wants to becoem smarter when it comes to science itself

Ellery wasn't such a good student in High School, he was on the Track team but wasn't really the fastest guy on the team, he got average grades which actually got him into the university he got so surpries he fell unconscious for two days after he got accepted.

Now he's ready to facethe future and to live his own life on the University.

Just a few questions to ask you guys:

@gold005, I mentioned in the intro post that the campus in Hoenn was well-known for being a good school for people who wanted to study battling. What specifically made him choose the Kanto campus, a campus known for it's Pokemon Science programs, over Hoenn's campus, where he could stay in his native region and study at a school known for it's battle skills?

@pikachu200: 4'7" is awfully short for an 18 year old...then again, I'm only 5'2", so I can't really say a whole lot. Also, you never mentioned how she managed to get the Fire starter from every region. Did she travel at all? And a last name would be nice.

@DNAngel: the same basic question I asked gold005 -- why did Ellery choose to go to the Kanto campus? Just because his brother went there? His history is rather vague...and also, please give Ellery a last name.

:-/ I was REALLY hoping people would be more creative with their majors. So far, all three of you have put your characters in the same major. Like I said in the intro, if you looked at the spoiler tag footnote I put there to save room, the colleges aren't the same things as houses. It just means that they have different requirements to fulfill so they can get their degree. People from one college and major don't shun people in other colleges -- aside from the classes they're taking, there's no lines or differences dividing the colleges. You all also have the same basic motivations -- to get stronger. While it's not a BAD motivation...I confess that I was hoping there would be a bit more variety. You're all even the same age! I gave you a range of six years to play with...come on, experiment a little. Get out of your comfort zones with these characters. That's what college is really about -- experiencing things you never would otherwise.

So, I'll accept you all, just please try and diversify a bit, and answer the questions I had for you. It really doesn't matter what classes or major you are -- the main portions of this story will be taking place outside the classroom, anyway.

Dude what do you want me to do. First my name's DNHero, second I'm fourteen I don't know how to write like an eighteen year old that's the best I can do for someoen that doesn't even know what you do in college, and third didn't you said we had to be in Kanto I mean I'm confuse here

Yes, I did, and sorry about the name mix-up. *sigh* look. I'm not trying to be a bitch -- I'm trying to put together an RPG that isn't a clone of that Academy one, but one that really simulates college life. If your character has no other reason for going to the Kanto campus than because his brother went there, then at least please just say that. His history was also vague -- if you could just give a little more background, then that would be fine.

And I don't expect everyone to know what college life is like. But if you don't think you'll be able to write this RPG to the guidelines I've laid out as clearly as possible, then don't join.

Okay I'll try to do things better but it'll be better if you would've put which college specializes in what, I'm not being rude I'm just saying it'll be a little easier for people to know which college they want their characters to go

Everyone is going to Kanto. Therefore, if your character isn't originally from Kanto -- or even if they are -- it would make sense for people to give a reason why their characters chose to go to the Kanto campus. But, for reference's sake, here is the 'specialty' of each campus. Mind, it's only the campuses in the major regions, therefore the larger ones, which have the resources to 'specialize'

Kanto: Pokemon Sciences
Jhoto: Pokemon Breeding
Hoenn: Battling
Sinnoh: Pokemon Contests

Although if I may ask, wouldn't it be weird that the first region which was originally only for trainers is based on science I think Hoenn it's more of a contest land cause it was the first region to introduce contests as for Sinnoh sicne it has a lot of scientific stuff hidden behind it it could be more of a science region JOhto's fine caue that was the region where egg breeding started

Name:Sam Grador
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Physical appearance:
Sam usually wears a green T-shirt that has certain illegible notes scrawled in places, He wont explain why. He wears slightly baggy black jeans that are getting worn out and getting holes in places. His shoes have a small hole in their soles, which he sometimes uses to store certain items. His hair is black and short and thin, and it doesn't usually stay in one place. He also tends to wear glasses.
Personality: Sam had been rather intrested in physics and time. He isn't very good with them, but feels cofortable working with them. He is usually outgoing, but tends to get absorbed in his thinking. He will often be trying drawing techniques or taking notes on his ideas, which usually never get anywhere. He also rather enjoys chess.
His pokemon consist of his dratini that he got from the game corner, a ditto that he doesn't use very much, a wooper, and an eevee.
Major/Minor: Pokemon biology
History:
Sam had lived in Celadon with his parents, who said that he should go to the university when he grew up. Not having anything to do when he got out of home, and not having a degree for becoming a pokemon biologist, he headed off for the university. He had been made fun of in school as a child, and usually did slightly over average with his grades. He wasn't very good with pokemon battling. Sam had a brother, Brian, who was older and well with his pokemon battling. He didn't spend much time with Brian, but rather studying his ideas, seeing if they were possible, most of which weren't. He went to the University in Kanto because he wanted to be a biologist and it was the closest one.

Also, I decided that I just deleted his minor.

To answer your question, the reason why he is going to the Kanto campus, rather than the Hoenn one is because while James has an interest in battling, his father, who of course is paying for everything, wants him to take a lot of the science classes. So So I changed his major to a technology one, because that is what his father would want, with a minor in battling.

Name: Maya Nijiiro

Age: 18

Gender: F

Physical appearance: She is on the tall side, but not tall enough to play basketball. (about 5'6"-5'8"). Her hair is deep brown and medium length, usually tied back in a ponytail. She has green eyes. Her typical outfit is a white button down shirt, loose jacket in a solid color, black jeans, and black moccasin-like loafers--what she would wear if she were participating in a contest.

Personality: At first glance, Maya is a friendly, laid back girl that makes friends easily--but put her on any kind of stage, and she becomes a real star--her enthusiasm and charisma made her a favorite on the Kanto contest circuit. She excels in most of the performing arts, but music and acting are her strongest. On campus, she hopes to join the concert band (playing Pokeflute) and the Drama Club.

Major/Minor: Pokemon Performance

History: Maya hails from Celadon City in Kanto, and grew up in a house filled with music, but unlike her mother, who played French horn, and her father, who played guitar, didn't really see herself playing her instruments (she plays Pokeflute, tin whistle, harmonica, and acoustic guitar seriously, and wants to learn violin/fiddle) full time. When she was six, her mother asked if she was willing to try acting, and after a few false starts, plenty of forgotten lines, and stage fright, it seemed that acting wasn't the best fit for here either. Participating in Contests with her Pikachu, Lita, appeared to help, but despite creating Thunderbolt dances and Swift tornadoes, Maya was still unsure about returning to the stage after so many bad experiences. But all that changed when she had a singing part in the school musical in the 9th grade--it made her want to try acting again. Today, she has several major roles in both scool and community productions to her credit, including parts in "Persians" (Cats), "A Chorus Line", and her personal favorite, "The Entei King" (The Lion King), but she hasn't gotten a lead role--yet!

Accepted: gold005 (thank you for the explanation), The Red Mage! (physics on it's own is a little narrow, but I don't know what would be the equivalent -- either he can double major or he can pick one, it's your choice), DNHero (thank you for cooperating), Pikachu200 (just please give Allison a last name when you next look at this).

LightningTopaz, your character is fine, but Drama isn't an offered major. Perhaps Maya could major in Contest Appeals? Also, her physical description and history are a little vague -- what region is she from? Does she usually wear pants or a skirt? Sneakers or flip-flops? Roughly how tall is "on the tall side"? That sort of thing. Please edit in a little more detail, and I'll be happy to accept you :)

2 spots left before startup time!

Thank you, LightningTopaz. Accepted.

Last spot still needs to be filled! Who wants it?

I edited in some new rules I had forgot to put up the first time. They're nothing major, but for convenience's sake, I will also put them here:

Name: Ben
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Physical appearance: Ben is tall and extraordinarily handsome. He has deep blue eyes that have a nice, almost playful twinkle in them. He has large muscles - he works out daily - and could look like a Machamp if he had four arms and was ugly. He wears a red T-Shirt that says "Abercrombie & Fitch", and a pair of loose-fitting blue jeans. He wears Nike basketball sneakers, and can run very fast.
Personality: Ben is respectful to everyone - peers, teachers, smaller children - and therefore is liked by nearly everyone. He was friends with everybody in high school. The "cool" kids, the "nerdy" kids, etc. He doesn't seem to care about that stuff. He is extremely smart at everything, and so he has a huge amount of time to spend in bars. He is also addicted to baseball.
Major/Minor: Gym Battling.
History: Ben was born in the shining Sootopolis City. When he was only 5, he went to kindergarten. He has attempted, to defeat several gym leader, succeeding only against Roxanne of Rustboro. He left for high school at a Pokemon Battling Academy, and although he is a lot stronger now, he still cannot defeat any other gym Leaders (excepet Brawly). He is now going here to refine and perfect his battling skill. His parents wanted him to go to an elite Hoenn battling school, but he went here because a girl he likes goes here.
Pokemon: Garchomp, Eevee, Skitty, Phanpy, Altaria, and Vibrava
