What are your game headcanons?

Counterpoint: Eternal Flower Floette was never distributed. So clearly not everything they had planned got shoehorned into SM. Perhaps Volcanion was planned later and never completed or what, we don't know.

But we at least have indisputable, material evidence that Floette exists. So we can surmise that maybe they did intend to distribute it at some point. And more to the point, it's not even truly cut content - it still actually appears in the story in the context that's most relevant to it, as AZ's partner. Same for Magearna - who knows why it took them so long to hand it out to us, but the Original Color form was designed as a part of Magearna's character profile and appeared in the movie that featured it. They could have done the same with Volcanion forms if such things were planned to be part of its character setting. And speaking of the film, this is without even getting into what kind of rewrites or edits might be necessitated by a sudden decision to cut out a unique trait of a starring Pokémon.

The whole idea that Volcanion was supposed to have other forms which were planned but then given up on, just because it was so, so, so important that they connect them to those power plants specifically, is pretty wild speculation, and would be unlike anything we've seen occur in terms of cut content. It would be one thing if such a form (or forms) was just going to be a useless Keldeo- or Magearna-tier fluff form (but again, refer to the above - even E-Floette and O-Magearna weren't just silently swept under the rug without seeing the light of day in some fashion), but something that actually changes how the Pokémon operates in battle and which illustrates a key part of its character design (more on the level of Deoxys or Hoopa or Necrozma's forms) is far too significant to throw away for so pedantic a reason.

Personally, I think it's better that they didn't distribute Eternal Flower Floette. It would have cheapened the fact that she's supposed to be unique to AZ if they gave one to everybody.

Speaking of, headcanon: E-Floette looks different from other Floettes because she's using a flower that went extinct 3000 years ago.

Edit: Also she can't evolve because a consequence of her immortality is that she's stuck in the same look forever. Obviously, the same cannot be said for AZ.

I don't really do headcanons, nor do I know if this counts as one. But it's the only place I can think of where this would fit. If someone could point me to a more appropriate thread, that'd be nice.

If I were to write an adaptation of the games, here's the teams I would have the characters use. Criticisms are very much appreciated.

I think it’s fine for this thread, but you might also want to check out this one.

Most (if not all) technology in the Pokemon world are developed by combining the knowledge of scientists and engineers. Many scientists who researched the safe transfer of Pokemon were biologists. Many engineers who helped were coders who worked really close to the biologists to ensure Pokemon was kept safe. There was originally a glitch in the system where certain Pokemon who were not allowed to go back in time were able to, thus injuring them because of the glitch. This caused the transfer system from original Johto to be canceled in the original Hoenn and second Kanto, but the project was picked back up for the transfer to original Sinnoh and second Johto.

Why do I feel this is going to get confirmed later down the line?

If GF decide to address the identical appearance at all in-story, it's realistically only going to be that or reincarnation.

Either way, I probably would have preferred new and unique looking MCs myself honestly.

Either way, I hate it. I hate the cheap cop out that is literal identical ancestors as a way to be uncreative with your design. At least USUM had a proper excuse in that it was just another timeline/parallel dimension but this stinks on every angle.

At least they look somewhat different. BDSP didn’t even bother with redesigns.

Well, yeah. If I wear different clothing, I look different as well everyday.

Point remains, their appearance is the same. Same features, same skin color, same hairstyle, same hair color, everything. It's a full 1:1. That's just lazy especially when you have the chance and an actual good reason to replace them for brand-new protagonists.

By all odds, they’re going to be related. What is this, 300-400 years in the past? The exact similar appearance is a little frustrating, but I’m expecting at least a little character customization, so you aren’t identical clones.

Lillie goes through the Kanto league while waiting for her mother to fully recover. She almost beats the whole thing, winning all her gym battles, but doesn’t make it past the first Elite Four member.

Later, after training a lot, she returns to the Alola region with her now fully recovered mother and takes on the island challenge. This time, she does beat the Elite Four and even manages to beat Elio/Selene, becoming the new Alola champion.

Somewhere on here I've posted what I think the surnames of all the Kanto gym leaders are. It is time for part two: Johto Boogaloo (note: All of these are based on Bulbapedia's translation of their Japanese names):

  • Falkner's last name is Peregrine. Falkner Peregrine.
  • Bugsy's last name is Horsetail. Bugsy Horsetail. Yeah I know that makes no sense but neither does Cicada and calling him Bugsy Insect is just dumb.
  • Whitney's last name is Madder. Whitney Madder.
  • Morty's last name is Pine. Morty Pine.
  • Chuck is just Chuck. Chuck.
  • Jasmine's last name is Mikan. Jasmine Mikan. I know that its just her Japanese name but it sounds good and I'm not calling her Jasmine Citrus or Jasmine Clementine.
  • Pryce's last name is Willow. Pryce Willow.
  • And finally, Clair's last name is Dragonbreath. Clair Dragonbreath. Bad. Ass.
