POPULAR: What Did You Write Today?

Meant to mention this a good hour or so ago but I got distracted by holiday stuff. Wrote the next chapter of Dawn of Courage today ("The Return of the Chaos Archer"). A bit stop-and-go at times but I got it done.

Anyway, the party is heading to its next Undead Base. The base is lead by General Tearror, a pretty nasty customer even for the Undead Army troops in Gem Ridge Kingdom. Nova wants to give his new Shaman Magic Bracelet a go since he hasn't used the Chaos Archer form since he first got it before giving up his previous Shaman Magic Bracelet to Elizabetta. Soon, however, Dominic appears, threatening the party, only to be put to sleep by the roulette effect of Elizabetta's Moth Dust ability. The party makes it to the Undead Base and decides to let Nova handle it to see if he can still use the Chaos Archer form, though the rest of the party will be on standby in case things get out of hand. The party confronts General Tearror and his large Undead Army, only for Dominic to get in the way. Nova transforms into the Chaos Archer and proceeds to literally stomp out General Tearror before blasting the Undead Soldiers to atoms. Dominic, who was his usual chew toy self during the fight, tries to confront Nova, only for the Shamanized Nova to crumple him into a ball and blast him with another Chaos Arrow, seemingly destroying him, though the party harbors doubts. Nova transforms back, exhausted, as the form still drains his energy, though Van gives him an Energy Potion as a quick pick-me-up, before they raid the base and destroy it. They move on to the nearest magical campsite so Nova can rest for a bit. The next chapter, "Superior Sister Showdown", features Elizabetta confronting the source of her misery: her bully of an older sister.

Forgive the double post but I got the next chapter of Dawn of Courage done today ("Superior Sister Showdown").

Anyway, the party is heading to Glimmer Wing village, which is the last stop before they reach Gem Ridge Kingdom's capital. Elizabetta doesn't want to go to this village, as it's revealed to be her hometown. The very location where her older sister bullied her right of the town. However, the party needs supplies so they have to go. Plus they know that Elizabetta isn't the weak, cowardly woman she once was, and encourage her to confront the ghosts of her past and overcome them. After getting the supplies the party encounters Elizabetta's older sister, Izabella, who proceeds to taunt and mock Elizabetta. However, this time she isn't backing down and a fight ensures outside of the village. The party comes to understand why Elizabetta is so fearful of Fire attacks/enemies: her sister knows Fire attacks, having used them to bully Elizabetta. However, despite this Elizabetta is able to gain the upper hand, much to Izabella's surprise. She tries to use a Lava Wave spell only for Elizabetta to transform into her Corona Moth form and proceed to effortlessly crush Izabella, finally paying her back for all the abuse she endured against her. Izabella wakes up back in her room, healed, with Elizabetta standing next to her. The younger moth girl proceeds to lecture her older sister, citing that she not only held back in the fight but also healed her afterward despite her hatred toward Izabella. She proceeds to warn her that her bullying won't be tolerated anymore and that it'll come back to haunt her unless she stops and changes her ways. She then storms out, leaving Izabella to contemplate her situation. Elizabetta rejoins the party, feeling a bit hot under the collar but also feeling good that she not only confronted her past and conquered it, but has good, supportive friends to lean on. The next chapter, "Rainy Day Reconciliation", features the aftermath of the Glyde sisters' brawl.

Wrote the next chapter of Dawn of Courage today ("Rainy Day Reconciliation"). I wrote it a few hours ago but preparation for the holiday got in the way.

Anyway, the party is still at Glimmer Wing village because of a heavy rainstorm trapping them inside. Most of the gang decide to play some cards while Nova and Nina work on more magical accessories. Meanwhile, Izabella is sulking at home, clearly feeling remorse for her actions. Her mother encourages her to go see Elizabetta while she's still around and apologize to her, which Izabella decides to do despite the fact that Buzzwing Clan members hate rain. After sprinting through the rain in order to get to the inn Izabella asks the innkeeper where Elizabetta is. The innkeeper is a bit leery of Izabella, worried she's going to cause another problem, but the older moth girl insists she just wants to talk. Elizabetta decided to join Nova and Nina and watch the former make magical accessories. Izabella heads to the room where they are and meets the trio. Elizabetta, naturally, is hostile to her older sister, expecting some kind of confrontation, but Izabella actually shows her remorse and shame for her past actions toward her younger sister. She admits she resorted to bullying to cover up her own low feeling of self-worth and that she was wrong to do so. She begs Elizabetta for a chance to make amends, as the humble pie her younger sister fed her by beating her in a fight, then healing her afterward, allowed her to see the error of her ways. While Elizabetta is skeptical of her older sister's claims she agrees to give Izabella one more chance to turn her life around. Izabella breaks down into tears and hugs her younger sister in joy, promising to make things right, before she leaves and returns home. Elizabetta is unsure if Izabella will really change but Nova and Nina express pride that the younger moth girl did the right thing in giving her older sister one more chance. The next chapter, "Hunting for Trouble", features the party dealing with a certain familiar Werecat in yet another cockfight, in the form of a different competition this time. It also acts as bit of an opener for the next arc in the series.

Because my plans changed due to a bad rainstorm I wrote the next chapter of Dawn of Courage ("Hunting for Trouble").

The party is heading toward Gem Ridge Kingdom's capital. Nova learns that during this time of the year the various elven clans hold the annual King's Hunt Festival, where various young elven nobles participate in a large-scale hunt competition for several prizes, including a one year promotion in the kingdom's ranks. However, soon Eoleo appears, and has a challenge for Nova. He wants to prove his "superiority" by challenging the pink-haired archer to a hunt very similar to the King's Hunt Festival in hopes of impressing Nina. The party knows it's a waste of time but Eoleo is too bullheaded to back down so Nova reluctantly accepts. They have three hours to catch as much prey as possible, and the one who catches the most and best prey wins. Nova and Eoleo go off on their own in order to compete in this hunt. After three hours the duo return. Eoleo reveals his catches, which are mostly small game like Clay Rabbits and Quick Piglets, while Nova's catches are some pretty impressive ones such as Iron-Horn Bison and Thunder Geese. Nova ends up winning because he caught the most prey and the most impressive prey, much to Eoleo's fury and denial. Nova credits his ability to hunt and be stealthy to his party, as Van, Zeeker, and Kettu taught him such skills. Eoleo starts ranting about his hatred for humans, prompting Nova to cast Banish on him and send him away, leaving his catches behind. The party decides to help themselves to Eoleo's catches before moving on. The next chapter, "Preparations for the King's Hunt Festival" features the King's Hunt Festival arc officially starting.

Forgive the double post but I got the next chapter of Dawn of Courage done ("Preparations for the King's Hunt Festival"). It's short but it acts as the opener to the King's Hunt Festival arc.

Anyway, the party made it to Gem Ridge Kingdom's capital. After taking care of errands they decide to go to King Jean and discuss with him giving them access to his intelligence network so they can go after the remaining Undead Bases. However, there is a lingering cloud of doubt floating over the kingdom, as the King's Hunt Festival will be starting soon but the threat of Muu is making people hesitant, worrying that the event will be canceled despite it being the biggest event of the year. The party decides to offer their services to the event in exchange for the information they need. King Jean is greatly relieved to learn this and accepts their proposal, giving them access to one of the guest rooms until the event. Nova requests permission to use the kitchen, as he wants to prepare for the event, which King Jean allows. Later on Cain appears and offers his services to King Jean for the King's Hunt Festival, which King Jean accepts as he knows he needs every able-bodied individual to ensure the event goes off without a hitch. However, Dominic and later Eoleo learn of the event and plan to crash it in hopes of one-upping Nova and gaining rare goodies, especially since Eoleo is sore that Nova's group took his catches for themselves from the previous chapter. Soon the day is upon them, as the King's Hunt Festival will be the next day, and everyone is excited. The party knows that they'll be divided up into pairs to ensure that there will be sufficient protection for the elven nobles but also know that they need to play smart as they won't have the whole gang together to fight off any high-level threat. They will have, however, additional help in the form of knights, so they won't be entirely alone with the noble in question. The next chapter, "The King's Hunt Festival", features the titular event finally taking place.

EDIT: Forgot to mention one thing. Added a few more edible monsters to the Food-Producing Monster List in preparation for this event. Only three new ones added: "Gust Quail", "Honey Beaver", and "Iron-Antler Moose". The Honey Beaver debuted (sort of) in the previous chapter as one of the catches that Nova got, while the other two will show up in the King's Hunt Festival.

Wrote the next chapter of Dawn of Courage this morning ("The King's Hunt Festival"). Now that the holidays are over I can get back to work.

Anyway, the day of the King's Hunt Festival is finally here. The party and Cain are taken to the King's Hunting Ground, and soon all the various elven nobles appear. After performing some lotto-based events to decide which group of party members has to protect which noble the teams have been decided: Nova/Nina work with Juniper of the Wood Elves, Sir Reginald/Kettu work with Vulcan of the Lava Elves, Van/Angelo work with Sapphira of the Aqua Elves, Zeeker/Elizabetta work with Mayfair of the Grassland Elves, and Cain assists Stormfly of the Thunder Elves. The King's Hunt Festival is now in full-swing. The various groups enter the sea of trees that makes up the King's Hunting Grounds and begin their search. Nova's group soon finds their first prey: a rare breed of Candy Porcupine. After Nova takes it out and Juniper uses one of the Capture Capsules they got when the event started to snag it, learning its point total and getting them started with a bang. Nova learns that the "flavors" of Candy Porcupines extends beyond candy, as certain rare breeds like this one can taste like pastries (this one is a Cherry Pie Candy Porcupine), much to his surprise. They venture in deeper in hopes of catching more prey. However, Eoleo has somehow managed to infiltrate the event and is ready to do whatever he has to in order to one-up Nova and win Nina's heart. The next chapter, "Hunting Essentials", features the next part of the King's Hunt Festival.

Forgive the double post but I got the next chapter of Dawn of Courage done ("Hunting Essentials").

The King's Hunt Festival is in full-swing. Sir Reginald and Kettu help Vulcan take down a Cruelcumber for their collection, much to the Lava Elf Lord's gratitude. While it's only been a short time since the hunt began they have managed to snag a fair few points. The other groups are doing just as well, having collected many monsters for the needed points. But it's nearly lunch time and the participants know to pace themselves so they don't burn out too soon. In Nova's group they settle in for lunch, each member using the provided lunches they packed ahead of time. Juniper learns that Nova's quite the cook, though the latter says that he's not a cooking artist like Angelo is, but he does provide the meals for the party. He and Nina also learn that, because the King's Hunt Festival is also a test of survival the participants are allowed to eat their catches so long as they know how to ration their food properly. However, pre-caught prey is not allowed to be used for cheating the event, but it is allowed to be used as extra food sources, which is what Nova's group decides to do with the prey that Nova and Eoleo caught a few days prior, thus they won't have to ration their catches, instead putting all of them to points. A knight suggest that Nova splash some water on his face, as he's not handling the humidity well, but Nova detects a threat in the pond that they're near. He successfully snipes a Caramel Snapping Turtle that was lurking in the water, giving them an extra catch, saying that his training with Aerrow Sparrow taught him how to sense threats and strike hidden enemies without using his eyes to find them. However, Dominic has now infiltrated the event, wanting to gain glory, prizes, women (especially Nina), and one-up Nova. He's first chased out by a Sugar-Horn Sheep but he gets back into the event and begins his plans. Meanwhile, Eoleo is eating a Clay Rabbit he caught and is ready to do the same. The next chapter, "The Way of the Hunter", continues the King's Hunt Festival arc.

Been busy with holiday prep these past few days, but I finally got back to writing today. I've been itching to write some romance but I haven't been able to come up with any ideas, so I gave up and wrote 177 words for my fic this evening. Hoping I'll be able to come up with something soon.

Wrote the next chapter of Dawn of Courage today ("The Way of the Hunter").

Anyway, the event is now in full-swing, with many groups having obtained a sizable amount of points within the first few hours. However, at least half of the party realizes that they're going to struggle with one basic skill: cooking. Only Nova and Angelo can cook so their groups will be okay, but the groups with Sir Reginald/Kettu and Zeeker/Elizabetta are going to have to improvise a bit. We also learn of some of the familiars that the elven nobles have, specifically Vulcan's Lava Mermaid named Gloria and Juniper's Wood Dog named Birchwood. Meanwhile, Eoleo has caught another Clay Rabbit, feeling very cocky, and goes after large goldish apples on a vine, thinking they're the rare Golden Apples. However, those apples belong to the Snapple Trap, which makes a quick meal out of Eoleo for stupidly taking its bait, much to the Werecat's struggles and protests. At that time Dominic is being chased by a Sweet-Tusk Boar that broke his sword. He escapes into a swamp, where the boar monster doesn't follow him, thinking he's safe. Only for a Gator Ghoul to ambush him and turn him into a big meal, to his immense panic. Nova somehow detects those two getting gulped, though he's not totally sure, and he and Nina explain their "relationship" with Dominic and Eoleo to Juniper and his knights, who feel pity for the party getting constantly hounded by the gruesome twosome. Later everyone has dinner... to varying degrees of success. Nova summons Elora to act as an extra layer of security during the night since the event doesn't provide Goddess Statues, which she's more than happy to comply. Thus ends the first day of the King's Hunt Festival. The next chapter, "Fruitful Harvest", continues the King's Harvest Festival.

been jotting down some world building stuff, had a thread somewhere else about a "build your elite for" thing come to mind again. 848 words in so far.
