POPULAR: What Did You Write Today?

Wrote 786 words for a really angsty AU scenario with my characters, involving one of them going missing so soon after the previous one. Haven’t gotten to the part where one character reinforces his love for the other when he’s contemplating ending his existence and the part where everyone collectively agrees to stay alive yet, but I will soon! Hopefully.

155 words today before running into a snag while looking at a reference. While I do have ideas of solutions, I'll have to consider them tomorrow.

Wrote the next chapter of Chaos Rising this morning ("The Karma Boar"). Like usual, I technically started it yesterday but only got a bit done, so because I woke up earlier than normal I decided to finish it now.

Anyway, it's time. Time for Celtic's party to face-off against the Karma Boar. Using telepathy, the Karma Boar thinks he's in for an easy fight, only to get blindsided by not only the Shroud Hero party's clever tactics, but is even put on a double timer thanks to an HP-draining curse from the Blood Skeleton Soldier Shroud and the deadly poison from the Cobra Hydra Shroud. Even when he summoned multiple Metal Boars of various types to help win the fight the Karma Boar is backed into a corner. He tries a last-ditch strategy: using the attack called Kamikaze, which would pretty much sacrifice himself to take Celtic and his party down with him. However, the Scrap Iron Fortress Defense protected the party from the blast, meaning the Karma Boar went out with a whimper instead of a bang. He admits defeat with his last breath but swears that the other Karma Beasts will avenge him. Celtic absorbs the Karma Boar into his Shroud, gaining a new Shroud form, and takes the Karma Diamond that he was guarding. They return to Delgunner... only to learn the other Heroes blew it again! They didn't even make it to their target Karma Beast, having been KOed by the local monsters instead, with the emergency bracelet saving their skins. Now they're recovering in the hospital before trying again. Celtic accidentally has a slip of the tongue while ranting that give King Alvin the idea to have the Shroud Hero party escort the other Heroes, one by one, to their Karma Beast and Karma Diamond, much to Celtic's shock and fury. King Alvin and King Duskbane grease Celtic's palms with promises of big rewards, along with the former promising to officially declare Celtic the leader of the Legendary Heroes and give him permission to bark any orders he wants at the other Heroes, and if they disobey they'll be in deep trouble. After much mental struggling Celtic accepts begrudgingly and defeatedly, as he knows that there really isn't any other option if they want the Karma Diamonds. King Alvin and King Duskbane start to make the arrangements of their side of the deal while Celtic and his party take a well-deserved rest. The next chapter, "Horn-Locked Heroes", will feature Celtic's party working alongside Ryan's to find and defeat the Karma Ox. Will they be able to work together? We shall see.

Wrote 5 pages in my notebook yesterday for rising star falling star, finishing out both the first major scene and my notebook nicely. Hoping to continue on scenes 2 and 3 later today!

Sorted out the problem and transferred some notes. Should be able to pick up where I left off tomorrow, since I don't need to modify the dialogue any.

Managed to write the next chapter of Chaos Rising ("Horn-Locked Heroes") this morning. Like always, I had started it yesterday but a migraine prevented me from getting too far. And since I woke up earlier than usual again (damn dreams keep waking me up) I decided to make use of the time.

Anyway, Ryan and his party have since recovered from their disastrous first attempt to get the Karma Diamond. King Alvin "introduces" him to his "bodyguards": Celtic and his party. Both are not happy about this but because Ryan has the most altruistic qualities, something that Celtic points out, they're both willing to at least try to make this work. After each receiving a gold ring made by the Druids that'll negate the EXP-negation issue that happens whenever two or more Legendary Gear at too close to each other, the two parties are sent to where they need to go: a dense forest. After a brief skirmish with some more Prickle Porcupines Celtic introduces Ryan to the inventory function of his Sword, something that Ryan was not aware of. This sparks Ryan's curiosity about the Legendary Gear before they continue. After settling down to make lunch at their first "checkpoint", Ryan and his party soon realize how skilled Celtic is of a cook and begin to envy his party's lunch, which was Roasted Apple Boar Skillet made from a Bronze Boar while they only had pre-made sandwiches at best. Celtic notices this envy and decides to use his cooking ability to start building a bridge of trust between the two parties and invites Ryan's party over to join them, which they quickly do. Works like a charm as both parties become a bit more friendly to each other. After lunch they fought and killed a Battle Ox, which is when Ryan noticed that the EXP gain was higher than it should be, to which Celtic explains that it's because of several Shrouds he has that cause any food he cooks to have various bonuses like temporary extra EXP gains and stat buffs. And, as is the theme lately, Celtic learns that Battle Oxen are also edible, so he has Tyroe and Rupert clean it so it could possibly be dinner that night. After all this Ryan starts contemplating if maybe he and his fellow Heroes had written Celtic off a bit too quickly and wonders if his Legendary Sword is capable of more than he originally thought. He's reluctant to ask due to the fact that they've always butted heads since the beginning but wonders if swallowing his pride would make him stronger in the long-run. The next chapter, "Bully Boss", will introduce more versions of Battle Oxen and will show the slowly growing bond between Celtic and Ryan.

Forgive the double post (again), but I managed to finish the next chapter in Chaos Rising ("Bully Boss").

Anyway, the Shroud and Sword Hero parties are continuing their quest to the Karma Ox. The two parties are slowly building trust with each other and are becoming more coordinated with each other as they face-off against new foes like Red Battle Oxen and Fire Wydstocks (pronounced "Woodstock"). After stopping in a clearing to set up camp for the night, upon request from Ryan's party, Celtic agrees to make them a dish with Clobbster in it. In this case, Clobbster bisque. Celtic and Ryan also gained a few new Legendary Gear abilities along the way. After dinner it's time for bed with Celtic taking the first part of the night watch. Ryan manages to swallow his pride and has a chat with the Shroud Hero about his Legendary Sword and if the other methods of strengthening it are true. Celtic shows him how to do it, even giving him a chunk of Zolu ore and using a Bronze Sword he got from a drop a while back to teach Ryan the properties of material enhancement and Stat Copy, respectively, along with showing him the spirit enchantment ability that he can gain through monster parts, which grant useful bonuses. The following day the party are ambushed by four Blue Battle Oxen and one Gold Battle Ox. The Gold one proves to be the boss... and quite a bad one, too, as it itself killed one of its own minions when Zuzu used a Blue Battle Ox as a makeshift club on it, much to both party's disgust. Ryan's newly boosted Sword Storm technique proves to be very effective after it absorbed both the previously mentioned Zolu ore and a Porcupine Needle from his inventory, which boosted its power by 50% and gave it the ability to deal extra damage to Beast and Reptile monsters, respectively. After the battle was won Celtic showed a bit more generosity toward Ryan, who thanked him for teaching him how to become stronger, by giving him a fairly rare Sapphire Conch to experiment with, along with pointing out that he saw some Copper and Silver ore stashed away in the Sword's inventory, which would also help Ryan expand his abilities. The next chapter, "The Karma Ox", features the awaited battle with the Karma Ox. Will the two Heroes and their parties be able to take it down together?

Managed to finish both scenes 2 and 3 of rising star falling star, bringing me to a total of twelve pages of first draft, just in time for me to second draft today as a birthday gift for myself. Hell yeah!

...makes me kinda wonder why I’d want a major character death angsty oneshot as a present, but eh.

Update: Managed to just about finish scene 1 at 780 words, hoping to second draft scenes 2 and 3 once I get home. Plan’s to do all that, give it a verbal readthrough to sort out flow, then post the thing by today. Hopefully it works out!

Finished another chapter in Chaos Rising this morning ("The Karma Ox"). Like always, I started it yesterday but I was still having migraine issues so I didn't get very far.

Anyway, the Shroud and Sword Hero parties continued their mission to find and defeat the Karma Ox. After having lunch at their next "checkpoint", which was Sautéed Mango Ox with Peppers (yeah, there is a food-theme of sorts going on lately), they realized that they were making better time than expected, so they decided to tackle the Karma Ox before nightfall. They find the Karma Ox who ridicules the Sword Hero but acknowledges the Shroud Hero as the one who defeated his "brother", the Karma Boar. The fight begins. Celtic uses the same HP-draining curse from the Blood Skeleton Soldier Shroud on the Karma Ox to put him on a timer incase their attacks aren't as effective. The Karma Ox puts up a better fight than the Karma Boar, though it's mostly because he kept a level head, as even he admitted that the Karma Boar had anger issues that would hamper his ability to fight. Ryan makes good use of his newly buffed Sword Storm ability, especially since it now did extra damage to Beast monsters, while Celtic and Leon focused on buffing and debuffing, respectively, to help turn the tide. After a decently long fight the Karma Ox was beaten and killed. Skye managed to slice him in two so both Celtic and Ryan could absorb him into their Gear, as they needed to remove the body in order for the Karma Diamond to appear. Celtic and Ryan seemingly burry the hatchet, as Ryan finally acknowledges that the Shroud is not useless and Celtic is truly strong, putting both teams on good terms now. The return to Delgunner and report their success, much to King Alvin's delight. They are promised rewards in the morning, as it was starting to get late. The next chapter, "Vanquishing Vicious Vipers", will have Celtic and Lucas, the two Heroes with the most animosity, forced to work together to find and defeat the Karma Cobra. Will it work out as well as Celtic and Ryan did? Or will Lucas and Wench cause him all manner of headaches?

I am done forever with rising star, falling star, just in time for my birthday. And sleep. It’s at 2.2k, thankfully shorter than the last few hilariously long things I’ve written.

Too offset yesterday to write, 199 words today. Ended up with some unexpected dialogue, but I suppose it's fair that I only had a general idea of the direction. Decided to call it when I started to have troubles trying to get the next topic in. See what happens tomorrow.

Finished the next chapter of Chaos Rising ("Vanquishing Vicious Vipers"). Do note that, despite the title, the parties are actually dealing with cobras, not vipers, and I do know the difference between them. I just couldn't think of a clever alliteration that would work with the word "cobras" at the time.

Anyway, Celtic and Ryan get their promised reward from King Alvin the following morning. Celtic also gets his second reward, which in this case was rare materials. Celtic even willingly shares some with Ryan, along with semi-rare swords he acquired, as a show of good faith. While they both know their newfound respect for each other won't completely stop the bickering and such, it is a step in the right direction for both of them. A little while later Lucas learns that Celtic is now, effectively, his boss, and is far from happy about it. But he, Celtic, and their parties agree to at least try to work together. They are sent to another jungle by a Shadow Sentinel to begin the mission. When lunch time comes around the Shroud Hero party learns that Lucas is a... less-than-successful cook (he set water on fire) before defaulting to classic anime-style fish on a stick. However, the three women in his party (not including Wench) end up joining Celtic's party for lunch (he did invite them), as his Greasy Roast with Plum Juice was too tempting to pass up over standard fish on a stick. Lucas and Wench eventually join them, especially once they learn they could gain some useful bonuses, both temporary and permanent, if they eat Celtic's cooking. After that the two parties continue. Despite the obvious hatred between them, Celtic saves Wench from a baby Stealth Cobra that tried to bite her, letting his metal arm take the blow on her behalf, much to her obvious distain, with Zuzu killing it. However, an adult Stealth Cobra attacks them and succeeds in poisoning Wench with its deadly venom. Celtic kills the Stealth Cobra with magic and cures Wench's poison, as she was pathetically begging him to save her, even using his royal title, much to his disgust. He also charges them one silver for administering the antidote, even using his Enhance Potion Shroud for good measures, as Stealth Cobra venom can kill a horse in less than an hour, much less a person, much to Lucas' protest, but he pays the cost regardless. Celtic then introduces him to the inventory function of the Legendary Gear, secretly hoping it'll pique Lucas' interest in learning more about the Legendary Gear (fat chance) before they continue on. The next chapter, "Snake in the Grass", will continue the hunt for the Karma Cobra.

Making quite some progress on the newest chapter of my Tamers fanfic. Hopefully I can put it out tomorrow or the next week.

Managed to finish the next chapter of Chaos Rising today ("Snake in the Grass"). Started it early today but my folks came over for something so I just finished it now.

The Shroud and Spear Hero parties are still on their mission to find and kill the Karma Cobra for its Karma Diamond. When night falls Celtic and Skye do the entire night watch together as they don't trust Wench. Turns out she also snores. Loudly. Celtic uses the spell Silence to, well, silence her snoring, despite the fact it's normally used for preventing enemies from using spells, much to Skye's amusement. Celtic and Skye have a heart-to-heart conversation about the power, and price, of hatred, which even to this day Celtic is still overflowing with the element due to years of mistreatment and abuse. While she understands why he's like that, Skye reassures him that it'll lessen over time, and she'll be there to ensure it does every step of the way. The next day Lucas' teammates reveal why they got ejected from this mission last time: they got lost and ran into a colony of Wood Trolls, a similar situation to Ryan. Celtic also gets a moment to flaunt his certified IQ of 500 and membership to Mensa to Lucas after the latter claimed to be smarter than the former, much to the idiot Spear Hero's shock, along with getting a nice dig on Lucas in the process. They continue onward until lunchtime, where Celtic makes Sautéed Ginger Boar with Peach Sauce. However, after eating they are threatened by a pack of Camo Stealth Cobras using Quick Hiding, an Illusion-type spell, to try to sneak up on the two parties. Wench instantly cowers due to her fear of snakes, something that Skye sasses about, before she and Leon use their patented Hydro Tower/Typhoon combo to force the Camo Stealth Cobras out of hiding, with Rupert finishing them off with Bamboo Spears. The Shroud Hero party informs the Spear Hero party that there is a good chance the Karma Cobra will use similar tactics, along with having an equally good chance of summoning more Stealth Cobras to aid it in the upcoming fight, much to Wench's terror. The two parties resume their quest. The next chapter, "The Karma Cobra", is the awaited fight between them and the Karma Cobra. Will Lucas and his party actually contribute this time? Or will Celtic and his party do all the work again?

9 words Friday before becoming offset, also made a notation of an important detail that would steer the dialogue. 380 words yesterday and ended up with an event being added unexpectedly, and also worked on some worldbuilding for my pokéfic. 789 words today and a lot of research; ended up finding an awesome reference location after 651 words, so I had to go back a couple paragraphs to start making some improvements. Will need to do some slight edits in the last two paragraphs. Also added a few words to the last partial sentence written yesterday. Armed with the references I need, the unexpected event will be a lot less vague than it would've been.

Managed to finish the next chapter of Chaos Rising this morning ("The Karma Cobra").

It's time for the showdown between the Shroud and Spear Heroes against the Karma Cobra. Before the battle even starts the Karma Cobra spends some time giving Wench a "Reason You Suck" speech, calling her a far bigger monster than even the Karma Cobra herself (yes, the Karma Cobra is a girl). Lucas defends her but is only mocked by the giant cobra monster. The battle beings proper not long after. Like other Stealth Cobras, the Karma Cobra can use Quick Hiding to make herself invisible and harder to attack, though Leon's aura powers sniffed her our, allowing his party to retaliate. She summons more Stealth Cobras to help, only to start making Wench scream. Even the Karma Cobra can't stand her and casts Silence to shut her up, while threatening to eat her, something that Celtic's party welcomes, much to Lucas' fury. The fight continues and it's increasingly clear that Lucas and his party aren't doing squat while Celtic's is doing all the heavy lifting, something that even the Karma Cobra points out while also mocking Lucas' pitiful attempts to even try to hurt her. Eventually Celtic's party succeeds in defeating her, obtaining the third Karma Diamond, though Lucas tries to take all the credit before the Shroud Hero party shuts that down. They return to Delgunner and report their success to King Alvin and King Duskbane while giving Lucas a "passing grade" despite contributing little to the mission. Because Wench is still under the effects of Silence, as one needs to be hit with the Silence spell again to lift it, and Celtic lies about his party not knowing how to cast the spell, forcing Lucas to go to the hospital to get it lifted off of Wench, something that Queen Amelia noticed but didn't say anything about. The Heroes are promised their reward in the morning. The next chapter, "Bug Off", will be the start of the hunt for the Karma Beetle.

About 557 words total and added some in-story notes of the next scene/event that I thought of this morning.
