An adult version of Pokemon? I don't mean like porn Pokemon, but like, your character is an adult, you can have jobs (professor, trainer, breeder, gym leader, etc), maybe have special relationships with other characters, etc. There could be some blood in the battling. Maybe even raise a family and train your kids with Pokemon. Maybe drug and alcohol references with the bad guys (Team Rocket, Plasma, Magma, etc). Pokemon can actually die maybe. You can have your own house and character that you create and decorate and stuff. You have a rival and a lover. Some other things too but I can't think of them atm. What do you think? I know it probably won't happen, but I think it'd be pretty cool ^_^;

I guess it would be a good idea but Pokemon is aimed primarily at 8-14 range but nowadays even 5 year old's play it! Also it would basically be a Sims/Pokemon/Grand Theft Auto Game

Yeah, Pokemon is targeted for kiddies but 30 year olds play it too. Maybe lessen blood and drug references, but the whole adult thing sounds cool I would totally be a part of Team Rocket. As long as you can join one of the organizations, I would soooo play it.

No blood or anything like that, but yeah it would be cool to see something that clearly isn't just targeting kids. The recent Pokemon Conquest features many older characters as warriors, maybe they could do more like having a full scale 60+ hr story open-world rpg.

That would be the most horrible thing to happen to Pokemon. :| The formula is just fine as it is. You don't change the feed of a winning horse.

I wouldn't mind an older protagonist, but the one thing that isn't needed is drugs or alcohol (perhaps a reference at most and one that most wouldn't get at that, like a "Milk Bar" or something silly). Yes, it would be fine to have more villainous teams, but drugs and alcohol wouldn't produce that. You could have death, but I don't think blood is needed, and I think a death should ONLY be done in plot-based way and not ever to a Pokemon (or, at least, not to one of your pokemon). It would have to be sad and meaningful to the player. We can have a good, memorable plot without these things, though I wouldn't mind there being a gun or two or there being jobs for us to choose from or romantic stuff (just not to crazy on this either) in the story or the world. My point, you can have a more mature game without a lot of added stuff that really isn't that mature to begin with.

I think it would be interesting to make a Pokémon game from the perspective of a different person than a ten-year-old trainer. Like, you know, someone with a different occupation and different life circumstances. Like, say, maybe the role of Officer Jenny, or even Nurse Joy if you're into that sort of thing.

But making it more "adult" by upping the violence and adding in drugs and hookers... uh, no. I mean, even if the series wasn't targeted primarily at kids, why would you want any of those things in a game filled with cute, fuzzy animal-like creatures? It's just a silly concept and would just turn me off completely. That's probably why it's never been done in any game, ever.

It'd be an interesting idea, but
a) You'd have a hard time making that sort of transition feel natural. I'd love a more mature Pokémon game, especially one with more diverse RPG elements as described in the OP, but I'm not really sure how one would pull it off without making it feel forced. (Oh, and for the record, sex/drugs =/= mature)
b) I REALLY doubt this would ever happen. BW was more mature in some ways, but Game Freak and Nintendo know better than to step outside the lucrative pocket they've thus far occupied.

I would want an adult protagonist who actually is not just a person with an heart of gold. He is a person with shades of grey, with sarcasm, and a person who can actually get angry and also have some views and opinions, instead of a dumb guy we have now. He can also be given the ability to react differently in situations. For example, the PC should have the option whether they want someone like N to be put in prison or be left alone, etc.

I would love more of an element where your choices affect how the games turn out. One of my favourite games was an early DS game called Lost Magic, and about half way through you have the option to become evil or not, but you turn in good in the end for the final boss.

I always wanted in Red and Blue to be able to accept the offer on Nugget Bridge of joining Team Rocket, but then to keep you on track maybe have you realise it's not for you, and go against them leading up to a battle with Giovanni in the HQ
