OK, i had no problems with your post, until you mentioned Ash Vs Cress....

did you actually see the battle?, it makes total sense that Pikachu lost, it was strategy, Cress was prepared to deal with speedy electric types like Pika, attacking its feet and confusing it, then attacking its brittle defense little by little is truly genious.

I agree. Cress did use a truly good strategy against Pikachu. He's a GYM LEADER and a Water-type specialist so it makes sense he'd have counter measures against Electric-type Pokemon. (lol I just get sick of hearing that Pikachu should have beat him...)

I don't understand why everyone is bashing the new Team Rocket. I seem to remember that while DP was going on, everybody thought they were getting stale and repetitive. While I think the change is a bit drastic, I also believe it was a very good and refreshing idea that honestly should have been implemented earlier on. I'm sure as the series goes on there will be an explanation for it.

Now, anyway... my major complaint about the anime is that Ash is still, apparently, ten. Changing this would solve two problems at once: 1) it would add to what little plausibility the show has, and 2) it would actually allow him to mature a little.

^^ I believe that the TRio changing, although with little buildup, was refreshing. The problem is, they're not getting any screentime, just 30 second cameos (if that.) They get this sudden change, only to be phased out.

If TPCI had just dubbed Team Rocket correctly the change would make sense and not seem so jarring.

So I guess my biggest complaint is how DP was dubbed.

My main problem is when Ash's Pokemon get into one of Team Rocket's classic cages. Why doesn't he just use the Pokeball to get them out. Even if it's Pikachu, I'm sure it won't mind being in a Pokeball just long enough to be called back out as soon as it's returned to the ball

TR's change. Its good that they made them serious and all but at the cost of their whole personalities? A bad move.

Pikachu's power issues is another thing that bugs me. I can understand Pikachu losing every now and then but losing to a rookie? Thats just lame.

I honestly don't think there's nearly as much character development as there could be.

There is nothing really and truly honestly bad about the series TBH. If the series was changed to every fan's enjoyment, would it really be that good of a series? I'm not questioning the OP's motives at all, but honestly speaking, if fans controlled the series, would it be as popular? Absolutely not from my standpoint, because although I've just joined, my many months of being a guest shows me, that especially on here, people don't agree all the time.

This is fine, if, and only if, as fans we had no say, which we thankfully don't. It is natural to be angry at the writers for them not to do certain things the fans want, but at times wouldn't you say as fans we become selfish and unappreciative? It seems like to me, that no one truly values the show, unless it goes according to plan. I must admit, I've had my moments as well, but the show is only enjoyable, when a fan says it is, which is sad.

Ash still being 10. I could handle anything else, if they just let him age.

I honestly don't think there's nearly as much character development as there could be.

They generally only funnel it to a select few characters.

But since now most characters only last a couple of years, they get a decent amount they need.

I'm probably beating a dead horse but I'm part of the majority that think either Ash should have matured or been replaced by a new ten year old trainer. It's also kinda disturbing that they trust ten year old kids to travel this world to begin with. What's the life expectancy on Pokemon world I wonder...

I seriously hate the new team rocket. and I don't like that brock isn't returning. I mean, yeah, he's gone in the orange islands season, but not for long. and the fact that they don't Chansey in pokemon centers in the Unova region. I know it's like, new to that region, but come on! chansey is the nurse joy pokemon! and don't get me started on offer jenny's hair cut...

I'm sure it's not just this...

Brock was beginning to go stale, so bad that sometimes it makes you wonder if during DP the writers even knew what to do with him. Honestly, Brock should have been gone a while ago, the writers screwed him over so badly, its not even funny. The new designs are because its like Ash is going to a new country and considering that he had to fly on a plane to get there, that's pretty much what I assume they were trying to get at. Think of Unova as Japan and America as the four previous regions, sure, there are tons of similarities between the two countries but at the same time, plenty of differences, considering the previous generation of Pokemon are extremely rare/scarce/hardly exist there, it makes sense that they would have the Pokemon of their home region sub in for the roles we'd usually see Chansey or Growlithe in and for Jenny's haircut, new set of cousins/sisters/whatever they are by relation, different hairstyle, different region I think its a nice look for them.

It's not that I have an issue with the rotating cast per-se... 670 episodes and 14 years just wouldn't work if it was still Ash, Misty and Brock (who was really overstaying his welcome by the end of DP, IMO).

I dont think i will ever understand mindset of "show not being possible to run properly if cast isnt being replaced".

Plenty of other animes carry out same characters for years like Dragonball(did),One Piece or Naruto gradually developing characters instead of throwing them out like garbage still doing succesfully.
Same goes with some long stays in pokemon itself like Ash or TR doing well even after being part of this show for over 600+ episodes.

It doesnt really matter how long characters will stay as long show is being enjoyable with writing staff doing their job properly.

In my opinion it would be better if writers actually fixed their mistakes of misstreatment of Brocks character renewing him and starting to develop in some notable way instead of being left for most time on sidelines just to use easy way of ditching him out than doing something with his story due to their lazyness.

Speaking of character being "stale"thats matter of opinion really. Many people liked Brock as character in DP having some good moments tbh,but were dissapointed with severe lack of screentime with writers not giving him required attention.

Biggest issue with Brock was his stupid goal, since they couldn't show him forcing two Pokemon to have sex. I have no idea what they were thinking when they put that in the anime.

Because breeding Pokemon isn't what his goal is. They're two completely different words in Japanese.

the black and white theme song is bad. why couldn't they just keep the japaneese opening? They did that for naruto and teen titains back then...
