What kind of textbooks/encyclopedias/etc. would you expect to find in the pokemon world?

I am sleep deprived, and for some reason my brain has decided it wants to think about what kinds of books aspiring trainers/professors would have to study in school? This is something silly I would think about as a kid over summer break, too. So I figured it might be fun to pose this question to other pokemon fans as well. :p

Obviously there'd be school books with chapters based on type advantages and things like that. Probably books on regional histories. What kind of ideas do you guys have? Not gonna lie, even as a kid I was straight awful at coming up with ideas for this sort of thing and basically played pretend Trainer School with my copy of the Deluxe Edition Pokemon Handbook.

anything regarding the lore of legendary Pokemon would be pretty awesome to study upon, I'd imagine!

This is actually quite interesting. I'd imagine that I might see the various regional professors being mentioned and credited when a textbook is on their specialist subject, like Elm/Birch/Rowan for breeding/habitats/Evolution.

Yes! I always love thinking about this kind of stuff. What kind of books they would use in the Pokemon world and what different things they would teach.

I think for sure each region would have a encyclopedia that is a more in-depth Pokedex with all the Pokemon that inhabit the region in it. It would not only include the Pokedex entry, but it would include a lot more about them, from their diet, to whether they live in colonies or prefer a more solitary life, what kind of Pokemon are their predators out in the wild, and what kind of Pokemon are their prey, all that.

I can definitely see a Geography of the Pokemon World book which talks about where each region is, their relations, their population sizes, the usual things.

It's not something that has been explored too much in the games, or the anime, but I can imagine that if the Pokemon world was real, there would be a lot of subtle species variation with the Pokemon. We have seen this done more dramatically with the regional variants, and some Pokemon having different forms depending on where they live, like Shellos and Gastrodon, or even random patterns like Spinda has. But I can imagine there can even be small bits of species variation in Pokemon too, if the Pokemon world were real. So I can imagine they would have a book on Species Variation in Pokemon, or a section of it in a Zoology textbook
What actually inspired me to mention this one was an image I found on Species Variation in Pokemon, that was made to look like a textbook.

It's really fun to think of the Pokemon World in a more in-depth way like this. Would it be similar to our world in the way that they do go to a higher education, and what kind of books do they use? What do they learn?

Oh man I saw that image you posted before and its one of the things that made me interested in this idea in the past!

I'm sure there'd be other kinds of books too. Like "Tactic or Torture: the Mega Evolution Delimma" based on the dex entries for mega evolutions.

There'd probably also be a few papers written on Eevee's biology and evolution capabilities and people being like just where do baby kangaskhan come from?!
