At first I thought it was a minotaur-like creature but after seeing bigger images of it, it has a gorilla and orangutan-esque appearance. So I'd say an Oranguru would be his Pokemon. The wiki states he's a wise teacher and an entity of nature, Oranguru are very similar in that they are considered "people of the forest" and have a wise teacher-like disposition.
